Dice Roleplay *Help needed!*

Nobody in Particular

Hello!

So, I decided on trying to make a Bravely Default dice roleplay but...

To do that I'd need to know how a Dice Roleplay works.

I think I got the basic's and have a few idea's for this roleplay but

if anyone could help me and give some it's that'd be

lovely, Thank you.

Well, it really depends on the dice roleplay. There's dnd, pathfinder, and systems you make up yourself.

In short, no. Both are very complex systems that I would probably botch up. I would strongly recommend a homemade system for your first go if you're not experienced with either system on a tabletop setting.

As someone writing a number of dice systems, no - no, do not attempt to write one your first time.

What exactly is the roleplay about? That way I can suggest existing systems for you to look at, and see if any would work for you.

Trying to design a system from scratch is like deciding you're going to build a car after looking at a photograph of one.

Some brief research reveals that Bravely Default is a TBS game in the vein of Final Fantasy with jobs and whatnot.

I would advise you shy away for trying to accurately reproduce the whole battle system. It's fairly complicated to transpose that sort of thing even with a solid grasp of the theory; this is your first dice game as well so I would even more so suggest you scale back. I recommend you settle for collecting the elements of setting and lore you like, and then using a simple system.

I usually recommend Fate in this sort of case. It's straightforward, beginner friendly, and free. But I will agree with Grey: more information will allow us to be more helpful in this matter.

D&D 4e .

Seriously it can into FFT type games and Bravely Default is pretty much more of the same.
