Arc 1: Welcome to the Conception

It was a nice Saturday afternoon in Tokyo. Akira Satou was planning to head to the batting cages to just hit baseballs for fun. He was not on the baseball team or anything, he just wanted to hit baseballs because he had nothing better to do today. Akira started to cross the street and headed towards the Yougen-Jaya district. The warm air felt nice to Akira and reminded him of Tsurui, he missed living there but being in Tokyo gave him more opportunities. He could pursue his dreams of being a Mangaka and getting published in Shonen Jump. Akira had left behind everything to go to Tokyo and try out for an assistant position for a Mangaka. He was hoping that he would be an assistant for Aoki-sensei who created Shark, which was a popular manga around the world. Akira also was hoping to start his own Manga series sometime in the next year and get it out of his mind.

Yougen-Jaya was a little bit quieter compared to other areas of Tokyo, which was nice. Akira hated the noise pollution and the crowdedness, always having to worry about hitting someone in the jaw from being too close. The young man made his way across the alleyway to the batting cages, passing some people on the way. There were some old timers and middle-aged people hanging around. They seemed to be chatting about some recent thing that happened that Akira did not hear. He stopped to listen to them.

"Did you hear what happened at Yoyogi Park?" An old timer asked his buddy who shook his head. The old timer gasped, surprised that his buddy did not hear about what happened with this strange cult calling themselves the Eye of Gagea. Their leader Hikari Endou led a sermon about the Genesis of the new world, which was stopped by the police of course. The old time wasted no time telling his buddy about what happened. The other was shocked as well and the two started to worry and continue to chat about it.

Akira went wide eyed as he listened to their conversation. He then kept walking and processed the information he heard. It sounded like this cult was going to try to do something awful or was predicting something that was going to happen. Akira did not know which one was worse. But it might just be a cult being a cult and predicting something that will never happen. It could be a hoax, and everyone would laugh about it in a few weeks.

Work was hardly exciting for Ren Okada as he was sitting at the ticket booth for the metro. He sighed; things were not picking up like he wished them to. Ren was almost done with his shift and was counting down the minutes on the clock. There were only a few people that passed through the metro and paid for tickets. Ren was so bored right now; he pushed his glasses on his eyes to keep them from falling off. He got this job after finishing high school since he could not afford college. It was a job that paid well but was boring as hell. Ren wondered what he should do after his shift and where he should go. There were so many things to do on a Saturday, Ren was sure that he could find something to do. Ren had grown up in poverty almost all his life and so he was not used to being able to spend money. Now, he had a chance to have a bank account with some money saved there. Ren just had to make sure that he did not spend it all in one place, which was not too hard for him.

Ren played with the pen on his desk as he waited for someone to come. No one seemed to come through, which made the time drag on. Ren groaned as he dropped his head on the desk in boredom. Time was going by so slow right now. The radio that was in the booth was talking about the recent news in Yoyogi park suddenly, making Ren perk up and listen in. Apparently, some cult was doing a Sermon about some weird thing. Ren did not understand a thing that the newscaster was saying. What about Genesis? Wasn't that some religious thing? Ren didn't really know or care to know.

A person actually came up to the ticket booth. It was a man in a trench coat who was holding a briefcase. He looked to be in a hurry to get somewhere, Ren noticed on his briefcase it said Cyber Communcations. The man looked impatient with Ren already as he handed some Yen to Ren for a ticket. Ren took the Yen and put it into the cash register as he gave the man a metro ticket. The man did not say thank you as he left the booth, but not before taking out his phone and having a phone call.

"Yes? Okay I am coming with the briefcase," The man answered.

Ren didn't really pay any attention to the conversation, but he found himself wondering what was in the briefcase. Was it just some business thing? Ren assumed so and shut down any thoughts he had about it.

The motorcycle engine roared to life as Kota Fujita raced down the highway. He had to meet a client for a job they wanted done. He was a contracted bug killer or a pest control person. Kota preferred to say Bug Killer though because it sounded cooler. The young man was heading towards Yoyogi park to meet the client. Kota had clearly not heard of any current news and what was happening at Yoygi park. He soon arrived at Yoygi park and parked his motorcycle. He took off his helmet and got off of his motorcycle. He started to look around for the client in the park. There was some gathering happening at the park though, which distracted Kota.

Some cult leader was giving a Sermon about a Genesis happening. Supposedly, a new world was going to form and replace this one. Kota did not like the sound of that. So many people would die for this new world. The cult leader opened her arms wide and continued her speech about the new world and how it would be destiny for it to replace this world. She seemed disturbed and scared of what was going to happen next. Kota also noticed some of the cult members there were chanting the name of Cyber Communcations CEO Kenjiro Ishil. Kota raised an eyebrow at that oddity.

"This is a world of sin," Hikari announced through a megaphone, "in order for us to repent our sins, the world must be rebirthed." Chills ran down Kota's spine as he took in those words. He could not believe his ears, was this world going to be destroyed? Sure, the world was not perfect, but it did not deserve to be destroyed and remade. Kota wanted to do something, anything to stop Hikari or whoever was going to destroy the world.

Soon, the police arrived and began stopping the Sermon. Several police officers were arresting the cult members that were gathering in the park. Kota saw Hikari getting arrested and escorted to a car.

Akira messed around at the batting cages for a while until it was dark out. He checked his phone, and it read 5:00. He should probably get going if he wanted to avoid walking home in the dark. Akira yawned a little bit and exited the batting cages. He started the trek of walking back to his apartment in central Tokyo. People were starting to panic as they were running in the opposite direction that Akira was heading. He wondered what the panic was about, not noticing the darkened red sky above. An army truck was parked on the street, with soldiers climbing out of it. Now that started to worry Akira a little bit. Maybe he should be running the opposite way as well. Akira had a bad feeling in his stomach that lingered, threatening to make him throw up.

A gust of wind hit the army truck and soldier, causing them to fly away. The demon responsible for the attack reared its ugly head at Akira and growled. It was hungry and wanted to eat humans. The demon started to approach Akira with the intent of eating him whole. "Me eat you," the demon bellowed out as it neared Akira and attempted to attack him with its claws. Akira managed to dodge the attack by sheer luck and run the other way. He ran as fast as his legs could as adrenaline coursed through him. Akira had never felt so scared in his life. The young man was hoping that he could get away from the demon.

Several soldiers started to shoot at the demon chasing Akira, diverting its attention. Akira looked back and thanked his lucky stars, surely, they could kill this thing, right? Wrong. The demon tore through them like butter. Akira sighed and looked straight ahead and kept running, having no time to morn. He soon saw a building that he could hide in from the demon. Akira took the chance and ran into the building

The building gave a lot of cover for Akira, which he was happy about. However, it looked like he stumbled into a science lab of some sort. Akira had no time to waste as he ducked under one of the desks. The demon followed him in the science lab and looked around for him. The demon growled, irritated that he escaped from its grasp. Soon it gave up and walked out of the building to look for other humans to eat.

The commotion outside was enough to rattle Ren and shake him out of his bored state. He wondered what was going on out there and if it was bad enough to get out of his booth. Ren was thinking that yes it was, and he should leave. Before he could however, a demon floated down the metro stairs looking for humans. Ren ducked behind his booth and felt very scared all of the sudden. What the hell was that? Ren had no idea what that thing was except it looked like a lady with wings. If he did not get out of there then he would be dead. Ren tried to find a way around the demon and to the outside where he could escape.

Ren attempted to sneak by the demon as her back was turned. He was almost to the stairs, but then his foot hit a soda can. He silently cursed to himself as the demon turned around and looked at him. She grinned and charged at him. Ren scrambled out of the way of her attack but got hit, which knocked him back into a wall. The breath was knocked out of him as he hit the wall. He groaned but got up and ran for the stairs.

The demon followed him as he ran up the stairs. Ren was running as fast as he could, but he could not lose the demon that was on his tail. Ren ran through the destroyed streets and soon found a building that he was sure that he could lose the demon in. The building was a science lab and seemed to be good cover for him to hide out in. Ren ran inside the building and looked for a good hiding spot, or at least to lose the demon.

Ren found himself in a maze of computers and desks, which would surely confuse the demon. He just needed to pick somewhere to hide out and make sure that it was safe. He did not notice Akira under the desk as he decided to hide under the desk next to Akira.
