Fantasy Destiny

CloudyBlueDay

made up of opposites

The four children were all sitting in their first periods, tapping their fingers on their desks, bored out of the their mind.

Until.

It was as if someone was beckoning them out of their seats. They all made poor excuses to get out of class and they all walked to the same place. They walked to the center of the school in the hallway, and they all stared at each other, none knowing how to speak. What was going on?

Oh, if only they'd known.

Jackie was sitting in class, bored out of her mind. Her so-called friends were gossiping in the back of the classroom, not paying any attention to the lesson at hand. She was at least trying to pay attention to Miss Whitlock, who was trying to have the class analyse a poem called "Making a Fist". The most frustrating thing about it was that she knew the answer, but couldn't volunteer in front of her friends. She wanted to run - she needed to leave class. She felt as if she had somewhere to be, with her mind chanting run, run, run, move, move, move. She felt trapped in the room; she needed to get out, to leave, to go!

Tentatively, Jackie raised her hand. "Finally, someone has an answer to my question!" Miss Whitlock looked at her expectantly while her friends looked at her in shock. "No, Miss Whitlock. I forgot to sign up for the track and field team and the deadline's in five minutes! Can I please go? I can't miss out this year!" Jackie pretended to look panicked while seeing her "friend's" faces return to normal. They knew Jackie loved to run and she won many competitions for the school. Returning to their conversation, they relaxed at the thought that she wasn't a nerd or a teacher's pet. Her body and mind screamed at her to run, run, run, move, come on, let's go! After thinking for a while, Miss Whitlock relented, "Fine. But I'm only allowing this as you win our school awards for this sport. Sign up earlier next time." Jackie jumped out of her seat, and sped off with a quick, "Thank you!" She wasn't going to the sign up board, that was obvious. Her feet seemed to know where to go, to lead her to the center of the school in the hallway. The urge subsided, leaving her wondering why she was compelled to come to this spot. Looking around, she didn't see anyone else, so she brushed her hair behind her shoulder and sat down, cooling down.
