Catharsis
Too Far Gone
Light winds swept over the small town of Ginder, catching any piece of debris light enough to be blown over even the slightest bit. Ginder had once been a Historical Monument for its mass production of steel back during the Industrial Revolotion, however now it was nothing more than abandoned buildings and wrecked cars that wouldn't be moving anytime soon. The down was desolate, except for the small group of people who had managed to find a building that had not been affected by the bombs dropped in order to clear the town of the rotten ones. There was only one light in the town that night, and it belonged to Jane and her husband, who had taken to the roof of "Grubbs Grocery".
Jane's lantern illuminated the roof, creating the illusion that the trees and buildings surrounding her were dancing around in the night. Behind her, Raime was setting up her and her father's old tent. "Just out of curiousity, how many holes are in that thing by now? I mean, there has to be a few. Seeing that bugs like to come visit me in the middle of the night." she asked, turning around and watching her husband at work. She was glad that they made it back to eachother, but she felt bad that most of the work they did fell back on him because of Jane's right hand. He had diagnosed it as a second degree burn, but Jane knew it had a little infection in it. It seemed to be healing though, since it wasn't hurting as bad as it had been yesterday. She decided it would be best if she kept it wrapped up just in case. It was a little chilly on the roof top, but not to bad. Plus, she was willing to deal with the coldness since it was safer on the roof.
She looked down at her bandaged hand and rolled over her losses. First it had been her training facility, Quick Paws, something she had worked her whole life to build, had been set on fire by bandits in the mist of all the insanity caused by the outbreak of walking dead. Then it had been her family, with all the death around her there had been no way to contact them, as they lived out of state. Same thing happened with Raime's parents. So now it was just the couple. It had been a long while since they had seen anyone else besides eachother. At least, anyone else alive. That being said, Jane had lost a lot of her sanity too. She had been accoustomed to the easy life, where she hadn't been fighting for her life, but now malnutrition had begun to set in and her skin was hollowed, but her muscles were stronger than ever from all the physical things she had been doing to survive.
