Long ago 6 ultimate weapons where getting created, each embedded with a magical property. During the process a evil spirit took over one of the magicians and a weapon of darkness was made as well. The darkness was stronger then the others because it was a time of war, and the hate and fear gave the darkness power. 6 hero's gave there lives driving the darkness to another realm and sealed the evil away. 160 years later the darkness finds a way out and death and war spreads again.

The night was cold as Talrics made his way back to his village. He carried a bag full of gems that he found from the mountain base to sell to caravan that was visiting. As he got closer he saw the pillars of smoke coming from the tents and houses. The smell of meats and wine filled the air and laughter and dancing filled the streets. Talrics found the gem trader and showed him the gems he found. "Well you have some pretty good gems here but i have seen them all before so i can offer you 200 coins for all of them." the trader said. Talrics sighs, alright that will be fine. He takes the coins and starts to head back to his house.

When he gets back to his house he puts his bag down and heads to his sisters room. She was asleep in her bed and Talrics pulled the cover her and decided to go out and look around.

Anora sat in a large tree just staring up at the stars, she should have been heading back to her village, her father would be worried, but Anora was to lost in her own thoughts to care. As she stared at the stars she began to see shapes and from those shapes she told her own stories, tales of gods and monsters, of love and betrayal. This was not uncommon for her, she loved stories and found that her favorites were those which she created herself. Time flew by quickly and eventually the moon drifted behind a the great trees leaves, leaving Anora in near darkness. So with a sigh she climbed down from the tree and began to walk home, trailing a boar behind her that would serve as the next few days meat supply in her household. This was the routine, she would hunt for her father and older brother and anything extra she killed went to merchants. That day she only managed to get one boar because for some reason the animals were in hiding and those that weren't seemed to be fleeing from an unknown source of danger. At the time Anora thought nothing of the animals strange actions and returned to the village with a bored expression, ready to bring the meat home and salt it.

The streets where packed with travelers and villagers buying and selling goods. I dont find any thing i want to do so i leave the village and head towards the river to see if that girl would be there again. After a hour of walking i make it to the river and a lady dressed in white is sitting on a rock. "You came back, why, i told you bad things would happen if you saw me again." the lady said not even turning to see who it was. "I dont know why i just felt like i should, i feel like i should know you for some reason." Talrics said as he approached her. "Tonight your life is going to change, you will lose everything you love and you will be tossed in to the world on a adventure you cant turn down." the lady said as she stood up. she walked in to the river and started to disappear. "Go back to your village and start your journey, everything will come together in time i promise." then she disappears. I panic and run back to the village.

The second Anora stepped out of the tree lines she knew that something was wrong, her village looked bright off in the distance, like every home had it's lights on. She dropped the boar and ran as fast as she could, the screams reaching her ears half way. By the time Anora entered the village most of the screams had fallen silent, yet that didn't stop her. She began bursting open doors and dragging the silenced villagers away from the flames, even as Anora did she she knew that she was to late but her body moved on its own in a desperate frenzy.

By the time that the sun rose Anora was sitting in the center of town, head tucked into her folded arms, with everyone she had ever know on the ground next to her. The flames had turned into cinders but the ashes covering herself and fellow villagers couldn't hide everything. Most of the villagers were severely injured, cuts across the gut, broken limbs. It looked as if someone hurt these people to the point that they couldn't escape and then locked them in their houses to burn to death. Anora didn't cry, not yet, she was far to in shock to do anything more than sit there, it was only when she began digging the first grave did tears begin to flow down her cheeks.

The village comes back in sight and i see the pillars of smoke from the tents and houses but there is more smoke then there should be. Talrics gut knotted up and he wanted to throw up. He jumped the fence at the back of the village and saw nothing. The houses had been burnt down already and the tents had been knocked over. Belongings from the houses and tents where scattered all along the road along with clothes, food and cups that spilled on the road. Talrics couldnt tell if the red on the road was red wine or blood and he didnt want to know

Talrics made it back to his house. It was still up but it looked as if any second now it would fall. He kicks the door down and goes to his sisters room. He finds her laying in her bed still but her bed was now all red. Talrics walked slowly towards her afraid to see what happened. She was gutted, Talrics left he house crying and fell to his knees outside the house and threw up. There where a few houses left standing but other then that everything was gone. Where are all the bodys Talrics thought. He stood up and looked for any one that may be alive. Talrics made it to the entrance of the village and he stopped dead in his tracks. Blocking the entrance to the village was every body from the village and the caravan made in to one big pile. A ocean of blood slowly formed as all the blood drained from the hundreds of bodys. Talrics collapsed and past out.

Anora pushed through the night, her hands and mind screaming in pain, but her despair blinded her to that. All she knew was that these people deserved to be buried, they were good and honorable people. She quickly realized that she was not able to dig all of those graves at full depth. So in the end she buried families in the same hole and those that did not have families were buried with friends. She took great care that every persons grave had at least one flower and a wooden grave marker with nothing but their names written on it. Only once every person was deep in the ground did Anora allow herself to leave the center of the village. Like a zombie she stumbled out of the village and into the forest where even in her dazed state she managed to find a stable branch to pass out on.

Anora had no idea how long she slept, all she knew was that it was dawn when she passed out and when she awoke the sun was out. Slowly she climbed from the tree and walked back to the village, wishing that everything yesterday was a dream but her sore muscles forced her to remember. With a deep breath she entered the village, looking at all of the grave markers with a newly determined gaze. She would find out who did this and make them pay.

A breeze and a warm feeling on his face woke Talrics up. Sitting up the first thing he saw was the bile of body. So it wasn't a bad dream he thought to himself. Standing up he wiped the side of his face. Blood drenched his cloths and his face. The blood from the bodies had reached Talrics while he was passed out. Looking around none of the houses were left standing. It was now one big clearing with ashs and random objects. Talrics walked around grabbing anything that he could use or eat when he left. His plan was to head to the closes village and see if they had the same fate. Talrics found some spare clothes, food, empty water jugs that he would fill at the river and a sword. Nothing much was left, who ever did this looted all the good stuff.

Talrics walked past the pile of bodies and on to the main road. He was going to find who did this and find out why no matter what. As he walked he realized that there where no footprints anywhere. The road looked how it always looked, a few cart trails and a few footprints here and there but the road had no sign that a group of murderers had came from this way. So how did they get here Talrics thought to himself. Nothing made sense. For one he never found out who the lady at the river was and how did she know this would happen. Unless she was behind it, but she couldn't have she seemed nice. Talrics shook his head. "I will think about it all later there is just to many questions and i have now answers." The net village was about 5 days away from his but he wanted to get there sooner just in case they haven't been attacked yet so he could warn them.

Anora had a feeling that this was not a singular event, there was something in the air that told her this went deeper than just bandits attacking a town. Before leaving to find the culprits Anora rummaged through the rubble and found enough food and traveling necessities to stuff a single bag. She tried to find hits as to where the criminals came from or went but there was none, no footprints in the dirt or made from blood. She only had one choice, to head to the nearest village and see if they were alive or had suffered the same fate as her home.

Anora started down a path that was frequented by merchants and travelers since it lead directly to the nearby town. It was a simple dirt road, large enough for one large cart or two smaller ones to pass by comfortably. It would take about five days but Anora didn't mind, she normally stayed away from home for at least a week. Three days passed without company until she saw someone off in he distance, Anora was happy to see another living person but she was cautious, the boy may have been a member of the monsters that came after her village.

Talrics usually made this walk to the next village once a month for trading. He usually went with his sister so this trip only hurt and reminded him more and more of what happened. Talrics went into the woods for about a hour or two everyday to hunt and sleep in the woods so no one would find him. On day three when Talrics woke up the lady in the white dress was sitting next to him. Talrics jumped up and grabbed the sword next to him. "You did that didnt you, its your fault that everyone is dead!" Talrics yelled his grip on the sword tightened. "No i had nothing to do with the attack. But i dont have much time here. I came to tell you to trust the women you meet today, and your answers will come to you." the lady said then started to disappear again. "Wait who are you! Why me! Tell me something!" Talrics yelled. When she was gone Talrics fell to his knees.

Nothing made sense to him he thought to him self as we walked the dirt road again. Who would he meet and how would he get answers from her. Sooner then he expected might get his answer because he saw a figure down the road. Talrics ran towards the figure to see if this is the female he was told about.

Anora continued her walk towards the boy, ready to draw her bow if necessary. When the boy was close enough to examine Anora felt more at ease, in spite of the sword on his back the purple hair and young appearance gave him a boyish and playful appearance, nothing to be overly concerned about. When they were within talking distance Anora spoke first, "Are you from the village down the road?" She asked pointing behind him, "Is it... is everyone... okay?" She said hesitantly, not knowing how to word my question without worrying the boy. As Anora awaited an answer she took time to look at him more closely, he didn't look like a merchant since there were no visible goods of any kind nor did he appear to be traveler since they rarely crossed great distances alone. I guessed warrior or sword for hire because of the blade and the armor as well as his muscular build. He had a strong face with bright orange eyes, a rather interesting and rare appearance in this land.

"Are you from the village down the road?" the stranger asked first beating him to say the first word. "Is it...is everyone...okay?" she asked. Talrics reached for his sword and pulled it out and pointed it at the girl. She looked to him maybe 20 or 21, young, but he knew from her looks she was tough. She was tall and medium built, she looked like she could blend in with the forest at any moment and you would lose her. "What do you know, tell me everything why did this happen, did you have part in this, THEY ALL DIDNT DESERVE TO DIE!" Talrics yelled. He felt tears starting to form in in his eyes. Talrics lowered the sword and fell to his knees. "Please im so confused tell me why." Talrics said no longer holding back the tears.

The moment the boy drew his sword on her an arrow was pointed at his forehead, ready to be released and take the life of the boy. Anora lowered the bow but did not put it away, not trusting the boys unstable emotions to keep him docile. She looked down with slight disgust, she understood his pain but the way he was acting was far from her own coping methods. He cried openly and acted rashly, but Anora pushed the pain inside and saved it for a later date, after she found revenge. With a sigh she spoke up again, "No I didn't have a part in what happened to your village. My village was burned to the ground and every person within the walls were murdered long before the flames could take them. I guess the same happened to you?" She didn't bother to wait for an answer, the boys sobs told her enough, "Who are you? Why didn't they kill you?"

Talrics stood up wiping the tears from his face. "I wasnt there i was in the forest relaxing at the river when i headed back everyone was dead."Talrics put his sword away and wiped his face one more time. "My name is Talrics i was a farmer and the hunter from my village. Who are you and why didn't they kill you?" Talrics said. Talrics looked at her and knew she was tough but he was to so why couldnt he hold back those emotions every time he thought our talked about what happened. He suddenly felt weak and small.

"Anora." She started simply, also putting away her weapon. "I was hunting, the animals were all skittish that night, so it took longer. I guess now I know why..." Anora added on. Anora was a good few inches shorter than this Talrick yet she didn't feel it, she felt like she was looking down on the boy. To remove this feeling Anora stepped back absent mindlessly, and looked back towards the way Talric came, "I don't suppose you found any clues as to who these people are, did you? There was nothing usual at my village, it was like ghosts came in and did it." Anora chuckled without humor, "Hell, it may have been. It's not like this land is unfamiliar with ghost stories"

"Same on my end, nothing. No footprints or any sign except the fire that anything was there. I have no idea how it happened. My father always told stories of people who had magic strong enough to open portal and go anywhere in the world but if that did happen that dosent explain the no footsteps." Talrics said as he started to pace."Anyways i was going to head you your village for clues or help or anything but i guess that option is gone now. So i guess i will keep going until i kill how ever did this."

"I'm with you there, but where are you going to go? Do you plan on just running around pointing your sword at anyone you see until you get lucky?" Anora said, still a bit sour over him threatening her randomly. She stood still without twitching even a finger, it was a habit she gained after many years in the forest waiting for animals to pass by. "I think that someone or something attacked our village and killed everyone for a reason. Not a single person survived the attack but us, I don't know about you but that makes me a bit nervous" Anora sighed and looked at Talric in the eyes, "I think we should team up"

"No i over reacted. You are the first person i have seen since the slaughter and just lost my cool it definitely wont happen again. As for where im going i was thinking Varclis the city of magic, maybe they can have some sort of explanation for what happen because they have seen or heard something like this before and i dont think a major trading city will be wiped out like our villages." Talrics said. He noticed the weather start to get cold and a weird fog started to come from the forest which drifted lightly and in a slow creepy pace across the ground. "Yeah i think we should team up as well, if it happened to both of us no need to go out on separate journeys when we can get it done together."

"I suppose Varclis as good a place as any." Anora agree with a shrug, following Alrics gaze, "That's strange... we should get moving." She said, a bit nervous now. Weather like that shouldn't have been happening this season and even if it did, it seemed to have appeared from nowhere and was giving the distance an ominous look. As the pair walked Anora kept her eye on the fog, watching it creep closer and closer. "Did your father ever tell you anything about creepy, stalking fog?" Anora asked crossing her arms and rubbing her skin as she tried to make the goosebumps go away.

Tarics shivered as the air grew colder and had a slight sting to it. The fog covered the road completely now even as Talrics and Anora walked further and further up the road. "He only mentioned it twice that i remember of. He said it only happens on this road and the mountain forest behind my village. My father said it happened to him once while hunting."Talrics got even more goosebumps just thinking about it. "He said that this only happens when a great amount of magic has been used in the area. When a great amount of magic has been used there is a mysterious cave that appears and a creature absorbs some of the magic to hunt again. My father saw this creature that night he went hunting in the woods. The creature resembles a giant he said, it stood about ten feet tall my father guessed, which carried a mace almost as big as him. This creature ripped of my dads arm then suddenly it vanished as if it was never there. He still never found out why or what it was but he said it was dangerous." Talrics explained as the two kept walking. Talrics kept his eyes on the forest looking out for any sign of a monster but he was sure they would hear him first being ten feet tall.

"Your old man really knew everything huh?" Anora says keeping an eye and an ear out for anything suspicious. "Gods forbid, but should we meet this beast, let's hope that we get to keep our arms. I kind of need mine" Anora said motioning her head to her bow and arrow, a weapon almost impossible to use without both hands. "Although it's not like he can sneak up on us right? Big bulky guy like that we will hear from miles away." She put on a brave face but the idea of seeing a giant was worrisome, she would probably be fine, her arrows would able to reach any weak points on his body. Anora was worried about Talric, a melee fighter against a giant? It was suicide. In an attempt to ease her own worry Anora pulled her bow off of her back and let it sit in her left hand, appearing casual but she was ready to bring it up at a moments notice.

"He knew a lot, he was once known as the worlds second greatest magician. He took part in the tournament of champions 30 years ago and got second place and then decided to just travel, so he has been all over the world." Talrics said spinning the ring on his right hand. "Yeah i would prefer to keep my arms as well, they are very handy to have, especially for you with that bow. I could still use a sword one handed i would just have to downgrade in swords to a lighter weight one." Talrics said as he pulled his sword out again. "We should be able to hear him first hopefully, he is about 10 feet tall so i would think we would hear him." Talrics said thinking about actually meeting a giant. He was confident in his sword fighting skills but he never really faced a challenge before so a giant would be on a whole new territory for him to fight, but he had a partner this time and she used ranged attacks so she would be able to help him. "How good are you with that bow, you know incase we happen to meet that thing?"

For the first time since they met Anora truly smiled, "I don't mean to brag but I'm pretty straight shot. I've been using this old thing since I was twelve and no beast has been able to escape me! Well... accept for a cub I saw once, it was so cute I couldn't kill it." Anora giggled at the memory, but her smile quickly fell when a loud crash sounded across the forest. The two fighters stopped at the sound and listened intently, it was only when another crash sounded that the pair looked at each other before running. They were running side by side, Talrics long legs helping him keep up with Anoras quick speed. Unfortunately for them a large tree flew from the sky and crashed in front of them, causing them halt in their escape. The fog was thick but not enough to keep the two large eyes from finding the location of the human team. "This is not good..." Anora whispered, locking an arrow onto her bow.

Talrics gripped the his sword hilt tight then took a deep breath. Calm down or the enemy already has the upper advantage Talrics thought. "We will be fine we just have to be careful and think of a plan and quick." Talrics said as the giant stepped out of the forest and stood on the other side of the tree in the middle of the road. It reached back and pulled out his mace from a strap on his back and held it in his right hand. Then suddenly it swung and hit the tree down the middle and it shattered in millions of pieces of bark. The two outside pieces flew into the air and the crashed back in to the woods. The giant gave out a roar and charged. Talrics shoved Anora out of the way and then rolled under its legs. A shock wave rolled along the ground as the giants mace hit the ground.

A giant crater was left where the giant hit about 5 feet deep. Talrics took a deep breath and stood in his defensive stance. "Anora i will get his attention, get in to the woods and shoot him as much as possible, it would be better if you where in cover or up in the trees so he wont go after you.I will be fine down here, i can distract him and dodge his attacks."
