Alcoholic hallucinations

Alcohol hallucinosis is a rather uncommon alcohol-induced psychotic disorder only being seen in chronic alcoholics who have many consecutive years of severe and heavy drinking during their lifetime. Alcoholic hallucinosis develops about 12 to 24 hours after the heavy drinking stops suddenly, and can last for days. It involves auditory and visual hallucinations, most commonly accusatory or threatening voices.
Causes
The cause of alcoholic hallucinosis is unclear. It seems to be highly related to the presence of dopamine (the hormone released in your brain that makes you happy) in the limbic system with the possibility of other systems. There are many symptoms that could possibly occur before the hallucinations begin. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, irritability, insomnia, and indisposition. Typically, alcoholic hallucinosis has a sudden onset.
Treatments
In general, alcohol abusers with withdrawal symptoms, such as alcoholic hallucinosis, have a deficiency of several vitamins and minerals and their bodies. They could cope with the withdrawal more easily by taking nutritional supplements. Alcohol abuse can create a deficiency of thiamine (This vitamin plays a critical role in energy metabolism and, therefore, in the growth, development, and function of cells) , magnesium (This helps to maintain normal nerve and muscle function, supports a healthy immune system, keeps the heart beat steady, and helps bones remain strong. It also helps regulate blood glucose levels and aid in the production of energy and protein), zinc (This is needed for the body's immune system to properly work), folate and phosphate (Approximately 85% of the body's phosphorus is found in bones and teeth) as well as cause low blood sugar.

Overall personality
His primary goal is to find out their meaning in life. What is his purpose? To be a punching bag? This is a question constantly blocking up his mind. If he finds no answer than what is the point in living?
Generally thoughtful and considerate, he is a good listener and puts people at ease when allowed to. This ability came from years of having to comfort himself. Although he may be reserved in expressing emotion, he have a very deep well of caring and are genuinely interested in understanding the people that he finds interesting. This is generally sensed by others who take time to see him, making the a valued friend and confidante. He can be quite warm with people he knows well. His only best friend, Jacob knows this fact.
He does not like conflict, and goes to great lengths to avoid it. If he must face it, he will most likely be submissive to the person who is stronger. As he was thought to do growing up.
He was flexible and laid-back, until his drinking started years ago. Drinking changes him. It is a slight change that could be looked over if it wasn't for his condition. Alcoholic hallucinations leave his personality flipped around completely.
During his episodes he has headaches that make him irritable, dizziness, irritability that causes him to become snappy, insomnia, and indisposition. There is really no one that would like to be around him during his episodes.

Short family member bios
Mother-Dalilah
His mother was his one and only roll model. She was quiet and extremely sweet, and she tended to her children the best she could and doted on them like any loving mother. Unlike her husband, she was very gentle, having the strength to stand up for her children. Delilah loved him. In a car crash years ago the life of Delilah and all three of derek’s sisters.
Father-Charles
Derek has never liked his father, nor his step mother. Charles has done a well job at convincing his son that he was nothing. Charles has an overbearing need for power and he gets that with Derek. He uses his words as weapons just as much as his hands, because it takes both to break someone enough for control.
Oldest sister- Mary
Mary Jane. That was her name. She was the girl to always smile through pain. She would always stand up for the people she cared for, Just as her mother did before her. She was Derek’s age when she died.
Middle sister- Lola
Lola grace. She was the antisocial one. She had large amounts of social anxiety. She wouldn't stand up for anyone, even herself. She was fifteen when she died.
Younger sister- Kenna
May. She had health issues since birth. Part of the family was on the way to her doctor's appointment when their car crashed. She died at the age of ten.
Friends bios
Jacob has always been there for Derek. That is what best friends do after all. Jacob was at first the only one that was able to calm Derek down.
Derek is able to peacefully retreat to Jacobs house any time. Even though Derek knows the risk of getting in trouble by his father he goes anyways.

Home backstory
Tragedy. This word being used simply implies something terrible.
This boys journey started with his mother’s lie. His mother’s lie that after years of having children that there would be no more. She had no intentions of harming her family. She was getting ready to leave, Leave this asshole of a husband.
She was confident in the fact that she was finally on birth control, cas she didn’t want to bring another child into their broken little family.
All birth control has a failure rate. That is how Derek came into the world. Through a night of torture emerged a life. Even though he was a mistake, Dalilah Was determined to keep this child safe. To keep her family safe.
Derek was a kind child, able to take care in making his sisters feel cared for. Make them feel safe even when Charles was raging. Even when his older sister was drugged and passed out. Even when his mother told them that it was okay, he knew it wasn't.
His entire family was actors. He was merely an actor in the roll of the victim. From a young age he taught himself to keep a happy smile on, even when his life seemed the worse. People relate the act of covering depression a mask. Well.. Derek had one of the most well crafted masks out there.
Derek developed depression early on into his preteen years. This wasn't just due to the fact of his father's torture hold on the family but because soon after his tenth birthday his father would be his only family.
His family took off one day. His mother texted him to stay where he was at school until she came to pick him up. His youngest sister had an appointment in a neighboring town. So that is what he did. He waited, watching the television in the Student lounge. He distinctly remembers not being able to find the remote to change the channel off of the local news. This is how he found out. How he saw the car pile up. His family was dead. He was alone with his father in this world.
His depression was moderate. It came with it's own challenges.
Derek was twelve when the had his first full beer. With his father's constant drunken state it was more prevalent of a substance in the house than water. The beer changed the small boy. It left him craving more of the numb feeling it gave him.
Drinking is a gateway of sorts. A gateway to try new things. Other things. Smoke and nicotine tar filled his lungs before his sixteenth birthday.
Alcoholic hallucinations became prevalent as he entered his late teens. This pushed the young boy to become timid when around people he didn't want to hurt. Anger filled his veins as his insomnia wouldn't let him sleep.
He reached for his pocket knife on these sleepless nights. These actions became prevalent over time, as he trusted no one else to bear his troubles.
Derek's home life is something he doesn't share. His father started to use physical weapons, words and maybe even forcing himself onto his own son. Charles did unspeakable things to him.
Nothing stood in the way between this boy and death accept himself. That small part of him. That child hidden away That had hope of a better life.
