Nothingness
Two Thousand Club
Demon Slayer Corps.
The Demon Slayer Corps. is an organization that has never been recognized by any Government throughout the world. The original origin of them is unknown but it is known that they have been around since ancient times. The goal behind the organization is to protect the innocent from demons. The men and women within the Corp. are known as 'Demon Slayers', dedicating their lives to destroy demons even though they are merely human themselves. At first, there were hundreds of Demon Slayers that made up the organization and as time went on, more and more men and women joined till their numbers began to reach the thousands. However, as time went on and new generations began to take over, their numbers began to dwindle, by the death of demons taking young lives, retirement, and the disinterest or belief in the organization. To this day, the name of the Demon Slayer Corps. is more of a rumor and myth than anything and the number of actual Demon Slayers have reached well only in the double digits, if that.
Ranking
When the Demon Slayer Corps. was still around and flourishing, within the organization, Demon Slayers were all marked with a rank to determine how powerful they were. These ranks ranged from Mizunoto as the lowest starting rank to Kinoe which was the highest rank. There was a rank that was above Kinoe that was known among the Corp. as Hashira, which were considered the best of the best out of all Demon Slayers within the organization. The requirements to rank up within the organization have always had to do with the number of demons defeated or how powerful the demon was that had been defeated. This information is recorded by a Kasugai Crow that relays both information and gives missions to Demon Slayers, each individual is given a Crow when they first join the Corp.
There are two other ranks that while are not listed, are still considered important roles in the organization known as Tsuguko and Kakushi. The Tsuguko are talented Demon Slayers that a Hashira has selected to become their successor if they should ever die or retire. While it does not guarantee their future position, it allows the chance that the Demon Slayer will have a much higher chance to replace their mentor when the time comes compared to any other individual.
The Kakushi are individuals who have no swordsmanship skill but are still a part of the Corp. their duty is considered the 'cleanup crew' as they come in after large battles to provide medical care to those who were fighting.
To this day, the whole concept behind the ranking system has nearly been extinguished due to the lack of Demon Slayers and the fact that the organization is practically disbanded. Strangely enough however, even though the system may seem forgotten, those who still continue on the legacy of Demon Slayers are still capable of summoning their rank mark upon the back of their hand if they call forth for it. Including this is the fact that if an individual has decided to become a Demon Slayer and were somehow able to find a Trainer, then they are also given a Kasugai Crow. Where these Crows reside to this day that they continue to serve is currently unknown.
Nichirin Blades
Special weapons wielded by Demon Slayers that are specifically forged to destroy demons. All Nichirin weapons are forged with two ingredients, Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Ore. Both of these ingredients can be found on the top of any tall mountain allowing them to be bathed in sunlight. Because of this, when weapons are forged with these materials, they absorb sunlight allowing Demon Slayers to destroy demons with them. When decapitating a limb of a demon with a Nichirin weapon, that specific body part will disintegrate, and the demon will be unable to regenerate from the wound. If a demon's head is cut off with this weapon, they will be killed.
Every Nichirin weapon is unique to its wielder, as once an individual has obtained enough skill, the instant they wield a Nichirin weapon, the color of the blade or whatever the weapon may be, will change to a specific color to represent them. It is said that the color determines normally what type of Breathing Form the user should or will master eventually. Aside from the color change, it is not uncommon for weapons to obtain markings all over their weapon once the individual has a hold onto their weapon as well.
