Filled with DETERMINATION
The divine and the damned have long waged war over the souls of the mortals, but none thought the war itself would ever see a conclusion, that is until it did. In one final climactic battle, the forces of light and dark clashed above the great city of Ravenhold, the largest city in the entire land of Vexis. Here the fighting was the most vicious and savage of the eternal conflict, and so many lives were lost that their souls created a grey mist that covered not only the sprawling city-state, but the lands around it, creating a wound on the land that may never heal.
Since then, many have come to the city in search of artifacts, lost knowledge, and/or power from the ancient conflict, few ever return, and those that do speak of horrifying creatures. Dead men animated by souls of the divine and the damned, corpses of demons and gods alike possessed by the souls of the other, rising to kill and die once more. These immortal souls, long mad from their state of neither life nor death, are beyond reason, and will attack any mortal with the same hate-filled ferocity that they would a demon, or a corpse possessed by the maddened soul of an immortal no longer able to tell friend from foe.
You were born into the southern kingdom of Val-Reth, a noble though not royalty, and were destined for great things as was befitting your lineage. Your younger sibling, Vaena, whom you have never fully seen eye-to-eye with, sought to inflict a cruel prank by embarrassing you on the day of your nineteenth birthday. Her method was a brew that she believed would sour in your belly and cause you to vomit in front of your guests, providing her with fresh ammunition for years to come. Instead, her concoction proved to be lethal in its toxicity, and you died.
Distraught, despairing, and distressed, Vaena confessed claiming that she had only meant to embarrass you, not kill you for no matter how bad the blood between you both, you were still her elder sibling, and in her own way, she still loved you. Your mother, stricken by grief, demanded Vaena's death but your father calmed her and convinced her of a different path: if there was one place in all of Vexis where a solution to defy death could be found, it was in Ravenhold and so your sister was dispatched never to return upon pain of a most terrible death, unless she found a method to undo what her prank had done.
That was five years ago.
Yesterday, your sister did return, older and... changed, she bore a strange wooden vessel, shaped like a seed and roughly the size of a swaddled baby, the vessel's outside was etched with images of a massive eight-eyed dragon being impaled by six spears. You were naught by bones now but your sister was certain that such a thing didn't matter and so under threat of being flayed and burnt, she was marched to your crypt, your tomb opened and your bones laid bare. She worked the strange vessel's odd lock, removing the six spears from the dragon's chest and opening the lid, she then poured out onto your corpse a strange, milky white mist that blanketed it entirely, and stepped back to await the result.
At first nothing but as the mist sank into your bones, they rattled and shook, pulling together, sinew, blood, muscle, and lastly flesh forming over them, dragging your soul back from the underworld and binding it to your body with unnatural power. You lived once more, stronger than ever, and though confused and agitated, you were once more blessed with the gift of life.
But all is not as it seems.
You start to showcase strange powers, such as flight and other supernatural abilities that can only be classified as 'magic', something unheard of as only the divine and the damned could boast such power, and yet there was no denying what you had gained. Vaena revealed to you the likely cause of this was the process of your revival, that she had used a demon's soul to reanimate you, making you something beyond human and beyond demon.
Now, with your miraculous revival, foreign armies march to claim your home, you and your sister to learn of how she accomplished this, more ill-fated adventurers than ever make for the cursed city of Ravenhold, thus feeding more corpses and more souls into the cruel machine that was the dead city, and in all of this, you are given leave to decide the fate of your murderer, your sister. Yet you are also starting to wonder how she managed to stay alive where experienced and prepared men died, and if she too is not something more than human. On top of that, the Royal Family has taken a dangerously intense interest in both you and your sibling, and that gene pool is shark-infested.
With conflict and danger closing in from all sides, what will you do?

Some answers to question you may have:
1 - any gender and sexuality is available for your character, the elder sibling
2 - Yes, I will be playing Vaena
3 - We can share all the other characters, using them back-and-forth as our writing requires.
4 - There will be combat
5 - Romance is entirely optional, should you wish it
6 - This will be LGBTQ friendly (even if some of the characters are not) but not necessarily LGBTQ centric
Most importantly
How your character deals with their new demonic powers and possibly appearance is entirely up to you, whether you hide them, embrace them, try to rid yourself of them, become a Demon Overlord, Become a Dark Hero, it's all up to you. The setup above is just that: a setup.
Also, this story will examine both Vaena and your character, though again how this develops is entirely open, nothing is set in stone.
