Smile! Be bright!
I overthink my plots. I overthink partnering up. I overthink gameplay systems and where and who I'll run them for, and end up running none of them.
Let's not do that tonight. Tonight I'm gonna start a thread in ten minutes flat. Tonight I'm going to take a sip of brandy in the candlelight, listen to the weakening rain on the window, look you dead in the eye and tell you about the Deep Wood.
The Deep Wood is a forest without fathom, a fractal space accessible from many worlds in much the same way as a cancer spreads between different organs of the body. Its borders melt into ordinary thickets and woodlands and jungles so smoothly that no one ever enters it the same way twice. Its upper canopy is a landless sea of green stretching evenly in all directions, but underneath, the forest floor slopes only one way: Down. Deeper and deeper, darker and darker, the hidden tree-trunks below the leaves growing as tall as mountains to reach the sun from the rotting abyss thousands of feet below.
What god in agony first spat out this insult upon Nature? None can say- at least, no one you've ever met. Down there are mad shamans and wild druids, speakers of spirits and brewers of potions. Insects grown too clever for their own good and birds that have forgotten the sight of the sky. Where swords rust and bones rot and stones sink under the seething wormy soil, strangers and freaks turn around and around, seeking a way out - or further in.
Some have been there for years. Some have been there for centuries. Will you be next to join their number?
This is a simple exploration concept for characters of more-or-less any background, sex or species. It's also a setting test. Characters may find something they're looking for, or find a way out. They may find someone they're drawn to. Either way, the nightmare may not last long.
I'll play with anyone who's an adult and can send me a writing sample or interesting character: weird, melancholy, intense, anything that fits. I will take your preferences into account with regards to what themes you'd like to see and what kind of people your character will encounter.
I am open to as many characters as you wish to bring, and to as many players as I think I'll be able to manage, but only one-on-one. If the setting flops, I'll let you know, and wrap things up.
Message me anytime.
