The Forest

Ever since you were just a child you've heard the stories. Stories all parents told their kids to scare them into obedience. Despite being scared shitless of the stories, once you grew older, you realized it was all just nonsense. It was just a forest, nothing to worry about.

Or well, did you truly know? This thought struck you at some point. People never actually seemed to enter the forest, and there was occasional reports of people disappearing, last seen near the forest. It looks scary from the outside, but have you ever actually been in there? Can't remember it, in that case.

You went back to talk to the people who told you the stories; Your parents, but that didn't really help. They told you who told them the stories though, and as to be expected, it was their parents. Your grandparents. So you go and talk to them, and get new interesting material. They tell you of people who actually disappeared in the forest. Of the times they walked through there, and always saw something out of the corner of their eyes. Of the strange lights that ran around the outskirts of it at night. Stories of monsters that roamed at night, stories of voices, stories of anything horrible you could imagine. This piqued your interest, to say the least.

You spent a long time planning your hiking trip. Invited friends, shopped for things. This was going to be exciting, because of the ghost stories, but it was also going to be fun, so the more friends, the merrier.

Unfortunately, that was all to no avail, and once you knew that, it was already too late. You turned in your bed, it was very cold that night. Very cold. And very... Wet? Why was your bed wet? You hadn't pissed yourself since you were very young. You quickly sat up, and rubbed your eyes. Reaching out to turn on the lights, you find that there's nothing there. You slowly open your eyes...

Oh no.

Your purpose is to live. Survive. Find other people. Eat the bark of the trees. Hunt the (very rare) animals. Keep warm.

But first and foremost;

Run.

The forest is never completely lit up. There hasn't been a sunny day since you came here. The trees cover the sky, so you'd have no idea anyway.

Fog is a usual sight, and so is strange lights, silent whispers, and shapes in the corner of your eye.

1. I'm going to be pretty harsh with the CS submissions. Don't godmod. No super handymen, no fearless characters, etc. No types of characters that could be excused for doing whatever they want.

2. Romance is allowed, of course. Just keep things interesting.

3. Don't stick on uninteresting subjects. Don't sit around for half an hour talking about how amazing this makeshift bow you made is.

4. Basic RPN rules (Further terms and conditions apply, please refer to the rpn rules for information)

5. 1x1 for a while is fine, but don't just hang with one other character, and let yourselves get separated for drama if nothing else. And don't stay alone forever, just doing things on your own. Make an attempt at approaching other characters. Also put Coolio in your CS if you read this.

6. Absolutely no bunnying or powerplaying.

7. In case your roleplaying isn't living up to my standard, or you break any of the rules through your RPing, you will get two warnings, and then finally you will be kicked. Perhaps not irrevocably, depending on the situation.

8. Grammer. Is. Important. Very important. Mess up a word occasionally, it's fine. Mess up all the words constantly, it's bad.

9. Don't work against the author. I have a plan in mind, and the way I'm leading the story is the one I can assure at least common quality of.

10. I keep adding rules... Either way, once the RP has started, I don't want to see any one liners. At least a whole meaty paragraph consisting of 5 lines of text.

No matter where you've come from, no matter what you've done, you're now in the forest. You all came here in different fashions, but in the end, all that matters is that you are here. You've been here for at least a week or perhaps a little longer, so you've started getting the hang of the life. You may have met other people at some point, but you are currently on your own. You may have tried coming back the way you came to escape the forest, but to no avail. The forest seems endless. It's quite obvious something is very wrong with this forest, but will you ever find out what?

(I changed my mind about the first person rule. Let's roll with third person.)

Joel Miller

It was dark outside. Scary things happens when it's dark outside. The movements just out of your field of view felt closer, the whispers were louder, but worst of all... People disappeared. Joel shivered at the thought. His second day in the forest, his sanity was saved by meeting other people. Apparently, they were as lost as him, and they banded together. Everyone except for him disappeared in the night though. Some were silent, and just disappeared, but some screamed. He still didn't have a clue what had happened, but it had given him a goal. Find more people, and don't let them go this time.

Luckily, Joel didn't have to be out in the dark. On the third day, he found this house.

He'd been especially scared at the time, and was more prepared to run into an old building than staying outside. The front door hadn't budged, but he climbed a nearby tree, and managed to jump from it to the building. He had made himself at home in one of the upper floor rooms, but he had never had the balls to leave it. It sounded like things walked around downstairs at night, but it was still less frightening than what happened outside. At least he didn't disappear.

He sat on the bed, looking at the door leading down to the rest of the house. He never slept a lot, which was understandable, here out of all places. Something had scratched at the door. That was the first time. Joel closed his eyes and rubbed his palms against his face. He just wanted to go home. He should never have wondered about the forest. Why was he so dumb?

Day 8

Lily lay on the ground, huddled up next to a fallen tree. She cursed herself for being stupid enough to come to this damn forest in the first place. Initially, she'd been well-prepared, but on the second night there, had awoken to the most awful scream she'd ever heard, seemingly only a few feet away. Instinct had taken over, and she'd fled, forgetting all about her possessions in the process.

Since that day, she'd continued moving in the same direction. She'd have to reach the end of the forest eventually... wouldn't she? Lily silently marveled at the fact that she hadn't met anyone, yet. Though she didn't plan on it, initially, the screams that could be heard from various parts of the forest were an indicator that there HAD to be other people out there.

Finally summoning the courage to stand, Lily began to walk in the same direction she had only a few hours earlier; determined to find her way out of the forest.

Sammy felt sick. Her stomach clawed at her, growling and begging for food.

She had come with nothing, absolutely nothing. Was she stupid? She couldn't have grabbed anything? No, she wasn't stupid, in fact, she was reasonably intelligent, she had just been terrified. Sammy had needed to get out of the situation she'd been in. She was in immediate danger and immediately needed to not be. So, knowing the way that people felt about the forest, she turned to the one place she knew that they wouldn't follow her. The one place she knew that she'd be safe. Hah.

Isolated. She was completely and utterly isolated. Since she had crashed into these woods, about a week ago now, Sammy hadn't so much as caught a glimpse of another living being. She hadn't heard anything, seen anything, felt anything. She'd never been so lone. At first, she almost welcomed the desolation. There was no one to ask about her brother and no prying eyes watching her every move (or at least she thought). But then her skin began to crawl as the quiet pressed upon her like a thousand, muted bugs.

She was cold, dirty, thirsty, miserable, and hungry. So. Effing. Hungry. She had managed to scavenge up a hand full of berries last night, and this morning she had found a couple nuts that could suffice as "food". But she knew that she couldn't last on the forest's left overs for much longer. She needed sustenance. Fast. If only she could find her way out of this godforsaken place.

So she trudged onwards, her already filthy runners scraping along the moss ridden floor of the forest. And then she saw it. The house.

Yunno Gasai

Dead leaves crunched under Yunno's black mary janes and tall dark tree loomed over her, creating shadows that were crafted from the moonlight that managed to sneak through the canopy of leaves. It only had taken her a day after she buried the bodies to figure out that she was hopelessly lost, and another day that there was something very strange about the forest.. Luckily she didn't dispose of her kitchen knife or her uniform for is she did she wouldn't have a weapon or another set of clothes. In fact she was still wearing her uniform aka her Sailor fuku that consisted of a black sailor skirt, knee high socks, and basic sailor top with a red tie. Around her shoulder was her black school bag and clenched in her hand was her kitchen knife. She was grasping it so hard that the hilt of it was digging into her palm and her knuckles had turned white. It was her fourth day now and she made quite a dent in her supplies but was otherwise fine. Though she was also paranoid and tired, her brown eyes would constantly scan the area and her legs were always poised to break out in a run or fight back. She had yet to find anyone else and even her supposed optimism was draining on her. Because of that the insane side of her that made her do whatever possible for survival and come out as the victor made an appearance and was now the only thing keeping her going.

This forest must be some sort of test, a test of the survival of the fittest...though maybe I'm the only one here...no that can't be it.

Trudging along Yunno spotted something in the distance, it looked like some sort of structure. Her optimism immediately bubbled back and she found herself running toward the building. As she got closer she saw it was a house which made her run even faster. After a bit of running she was halfway there. She stopped however as she didn't want to jump into anything without actually thinking about the situation. From what she could make out the house was an old thing that had some parts that were crumbling off of it and had some of the wood falling out of the walls. However it was shelter, something she desperately needed so Yunno found herself slowly inching toward it with her knife brandished and muscles tense. Once near it she scanned the area and went up to the door. Instead of trying to open the door she pressed her ear against it. Inside she heard something, like someone walking around. Still cautious as she had no idea what exactly was in the building she carefully tried the door but find it wouldn't budge.

Damn. Maybe if I climb a tree and go through a window...

Finding a suitable tree she started climbing. Luckily her years of gymnastics made it fairly easy to scale it and jump into a nearby window.

Once in she looked around and saw a tall male with dirty blond hair and pale skin sitting up on a bed. Immediately after she spotted him she dashed over to him and pointed her knife at him. She would be shocked to find another person if she wasn’t so paranoid right now.
