Deathlords & shadowlands

Ten Thousand Club
I was counting known shadowlands yesterday and noticed that there are enough for each of the "described" deathlords to each have one.  But, some where i read (i think bone & ebony) that the First & Forsaken Lion doesn't have one. Is this correct or have i missed something.

I find it hard to believe that he couldn't aquire one since there are some available and he has a GIANT army.  Now two are far southwest on the opposite side of the mountains where Gem is located, and i haven't read anywhere in the Abyssal book that they are "owned" by any of the deathlords.  I find it hard to believe that since the shadowlands out number the described deathlords that each wouldn't own one.

Just curious on others thoughts.

Not all Deathlords have thier own shadowland -- at least none big enough to show up on the big map. Likewise, not all shadowlands are claimed by a Deathlord. Not all Deathlords give a shit about Creation, or would even want them. Some of them are too busy in the Underworld.

Yeah but when they talk about the F&FL it says he is "looking for a shadowland he could control or possibly starting his own".  I just figured since some are unclaimed he wouldn't have much of a problem getting one.

Remember, the Lion is confined to the Thousand, a very specific region in the Southern Underworld.  That's where all his shit is: his troops, his war machines, his Manses, etc.  So if there ain't one near the Thousand, it doesn't mean dick to him.

Yeah i went back over my notes (was considering using him in a game) and your right. He "could" take one but he's so isolated.  Thanks for reminding me.

And it's not really UP there on his list of priorities RIGHT now, as I remember.  Doesn't he want to become supreme ruler of the Underworld first then conquer creation under his soulsteel-mail-shod fist?

I know canon wise they have it in the Autochthonians or Bone and Ebony book it talks about F&FL working a plot with the fair folk in the south to attack civilization and there bye start a shadow land he could use.  If i remember correctly he was goignto wholop on creation then take the army and bring it back into the underworld to try to wholop on his malfean master.

Psychoph's right there.

B'sides, the Forsaken Lion does have a Shadowland, sort of: the Firepeak Mountain. It's in the furthest north of the Thousand, and thus perfect for him. No other Deathlord can possibly take it for themselves, and it's near enough An- Teng (in my mind's eye; it's not on the map) and the Lap for him to begin conquering Creation.

In other words: the writers fucked up, again. He wouldn't spend that much energy on destroying Gem if he had another Shadowland, much closer to civilization albeit smaller.

Meh.

Yes, it's in the Firepeaks and yes, the rulers of An-Teng know it's there. They avoid it like the plague, but they talk of it not being assailable even if they turned the Terrestrials toward it. So yes, White-Wolf fucked up. First and Forsaken also has a Deathknight in the area, and is planning on expanding the shadowland. He also has incredible influence in the region's ghosts, which the people revere. So yes, An-Teng is slowly falling to the clutches of FaFL overtime, and the Solars...and the Lunars...and they're trying to rebel against the Realm. Yeah, big ol' shadowland a comin'.

His planned attack on the South already happened and failed: Read AB:E, and in Crow's story she talks about how her efforts alerted the Scarlet Empress to the invading FF army and led to their eradication.

I think until the Locust crusade he is aware that he could invade Creation, but in doing so he would alert the other Deathlords to his power, and it is his more ambitious goal to conquer and subjugate them first.

Bearing in mind that a lot of the man's stuff won't work in creation, so he might feel he needs more resources before an outright attack on Creation is possible. Comes down to his insane need for overwhelming power; he might think that because of his lack of power to defeat the Malfeans so many years ago, he needs even more power now to achieve lesser goals. Sort of a pompous inferiority complex.

In the Locust crusade, the smart divil arranges the killination of a Gem Lord, creating a Shadowland beneath Gem. Clever boy. Of course, the Alchemicals might want to fix that, and they can, given time. Anti-shadowlands tech for the win. I've always been in favour of making another Lore tree for dealing with Shadowlands, like the Wyld tree.

Pity you haven't got any high-essence DK martial artists around.

*cough, cough*

... why must everything be Martial Arti:ified around here? Is nothing sacred to you anymore?!?!
