DEATH RACE.
That's the name of the new Artificial Intelligence (AI) game that has caused the world go head over heels. Everyone, from the very young to the fanatic adults, are going out of their way to try to get the game. This game is unique because of a single feature; it learns from its users.
The company that created the game, UNIVERSAL TRUTH, has released the exclusive console [TRICK] which is the only that can read and play DEATH RACE, the sci-fi game. However, this is not a normal console. [TRICK] comes with a 'state of the art' multi-sensorial suit that covers 95% of your body, and a comfortable helmet that connects your senses and brain activity to the console.
[TRICK] looks like a giant box where the player lays down and rests... pretty much like a coffin. It comes in various sizes, shapes and colors, and according to the most popular fan magazines, it’s worth every cent of the five hundred thousand dollars that users have to pay for it.
✲ [Characters]
No matter what you look like in real life, any user can personalize their character to be just about anything that the human mind could possibly dream of; from the various mythological creatures, to the different beings that have been created for the movies, such as vampires, werewolves, witches, vikings, mermaids, elves, trolls, demons, angels, aliens, or simple humans. The Avatar, as the in-game persona is called, must have humanoid features in order to fully adapt to the user.
Only one character per human DNA is allowed though, restricting the game to one user per character.
Once a character has been created, the user is able to control their new body at will, just like their own. While connected to the game, your body and mind will BECOME your character's and LIVE the game to its fullest.
The console [TRICK] has been tested many times for safety and comes with short trial games created for BETA users to learn how to use the game interface, as well as figure out what type of Avatar they'd like to make. So far, developers have restricted the use of wings and cyborg appearances as they do not perform well. The executive board of UNIVERSAL TRUTH has stated that the game is harmless, and that no matter what goes on within the game, the users will be protected by AIM, the sentient Artificial Intelligence Machine goddess of the game. However, every player must sign undergo a rutinary testing of body and mind before even trying out the BETA, as well as signing a contract before buying the console stating that the company is not responsible for any physical/mental problems with the user, and recommending that the players have a healthy body/mind before even trying it. For the players that make it inside the trial games of [TRICK], AIM is supposed to be the guide, mentor and adviser.
The press is constantly reminded that, as the characters level up and gain experience, so does AIM and the game itself, which is filled with side-characters with AI features of their own called NPCs.

By midnight in December 30, 2040, the game will be released in a particular way. This fated and already feared night UNIVERSAL TRUTH will release ten GOLDEN TICKETs, one for each of the participant nations that helped develop the game; United States, Russia, Japan, China, Germany, France, Mexico, India, Korea, and Ghana. This was made with the purpose of international interaction, and an obvious benefit for those countries to be the first in having a player in DEATH RACE.
The catch? These tickets cannot be bought with money. They are lucky tickets for a reason! A special lottery will be made for this purpose only, so just anyone will be able to win. The only requirements are for these GOLDEN TICKETs users to be between ages 18 and 30, have finished high school, medical exam, and sign the contract under the Terms of Service of the company.
These 'sponsor' countries have already started an international friendly bet on which user will come out victorious. Skeptics criticize the impact this could have in the game outcome, but UNIVERSAL TRUTH has promised that no outside help will be able to reach the users once AIM takes control. This sole statement has many families worried for the fate of their loved ones who plan on joining the race.

Ten GOLDEN TICKETs. Ten first lucky players, each from one of the participant nations, will be thrown head first into this crazy game who's final goal is to find and open the "Reality Gates". Through a series of quests, jobs, and (obviously) races/matches, the users will be given tips and hints as to what to do.
As you can imagine, there is a small war going on in the black market, trying to get those tickets however they can. Furthermore, the ten Golden players will be taken to a secret location to start the game.
How will this game start and who will be these Golden players? Will they get along? Will AIM guide them correctly?
