Okay Basically so basically this role play is an experiment that I'm doing just to see if it can be done. If anyone has played in the werewolf games before you'll catch on to this very quickly, but or now I'm going to explain what's going to happen:
The Death note has returned to the world of the living and with it its shinigami. one unlucky or maybe several unlucky souls have picked up this Death Note and have decided to use it for the same reasons it was used for last time, for evil. The police want to know exactly who is responsible for these killings so if the public has any information they are asked to report it immediately.
That's basically what's going on. Players will sign up their character and I will PM them a role and possibly a sub role if they are lucky. Roles will be posted later.
For now I give you some rules:
1. No stealing other peoples roles, if your not holding a death note don't make it so your character suddenly finds a death note
2. For the death note user especially and other characters, you will know no ones name at the beginning they have to be told to you or you have to have the shinigami eyes, which has a special rule.
3. The will be a poll and every so often the police will arrest some one depending on the results of that poll
4. I am God... well the god of death. I am playing as the shinigami, and I will post the death scenes of those who the death note user kills.
5. If the Death note user does decide to get the shinigami eyes instead of his life being cut in half I'm going to start to give hints on who it is (simple stuff like is a he or he/she works).
6. Your going to have to reveal your name at some point during this rp, so be careful of who you reveal it to
7. The Death note user should stay as discrete as possible and not reveal anything about having a death note in his post because then people will vote against him
8. The whole point of this role play is to kill before you get killed, so you find the death note user and you win, he kills you and you lose.

Roles:
Death note user: The death note user is the antagonist in this role play. he will have the power to kill you if he finds out your name. This role player should be extra careful in revealing who they are, especially in the presence of a detective.
Shinigami: That would be yours truly. I'll be handling every death post that occurs in this role play and if the Death note user so chooses to get the shinigami eyes every kill he makes I'll give a hint as to who he or she is.
Head of Police: Also me... I'll be in charge of the arrest post for every time someone gets arrested.
Detective: A role assigned to the main protagonist. They are able to discover more about the criminal than the average person. They get a hint every time the death note user kills wither he has the eyes or not.
Double: Every felt like you were going to get shot, well you shouldn't because now you have someone who looks exactly like you and is willing to die for you, or for your money. A person with a double has a one time save from being killed.
Sub Roles:
Civilian: Just your average joe who has a unimportant job
Police Officer: You are helping in the search for kira
Celebrity: Your pretty rich and famous and more likely to have a double
Detectives Intern: You work directly under the Dectective so if he or she dies you take over
