roles.
president
taken
The head honcho. Though she's got to listen to what the chairs think, she's the one calling the shots.
vp
taken
The right hand man.
chairs
open
Secretary, treasurer, road captain, sergeants-at-arms, ect. The guys sitting underneath the pres and vp in the chain of command, who are present at every meeting and have sway in what the club does and how it operates. They'll have been with the club for some time, and were voted in.
patched members
open
Full members of the club, complete with voting rights, but no special duties or titles. Doing a lot of the day-to-day grunt work, but trusted to handle themselves.
probies
open
You want to be in the club. You just haven't gotten there yet. If you can put up with being sent to the autoparts store for blinker fluid for a year or so, it just might happen.
affiliates
open
You're not in the club, but your sister is, or your best friend, or somebody. You may or may not know everything that's going on, but you're usually involved more than anyone would like, including you.
extra information.
This rp is not first come/first serve, we will be approving characters that we believe will best fit with the tone of the story. Characters should be 18+. If you have a concept for a younger character please dm either myself or TrashRabbit, we may be open to one or two younger characters.
Your character does not have to have to have powers, but if they do, please remember that we're looking for concise concepts, very classic X-men in brevity but able to be used cleverly in scope. If your character has a powerful mutation this causes more problems than it solves.
HMDD--Human Mutation Deviation Device, also known as the Device, or the tester. This device has been used to classify and identify mutations for the last 50 years. Scientifically the device measures how much genetic deviation a person has in areas associated with dangerous mutations and powers. This does not always line up with how effective or dangerous a mutation is, however due to propaganda it often treated as the end all be all to whether or not some is allowed in polite society. The HMDD scale is laughably simplistic: Normal, Mutation Positive (MP or M-positive), MPHigh (MPH, like Miles Per Hour is a meme inside the community).
Some one with a mutation that causes them to have a pig face may test MP High, but have no meaningful super power, or someone like Charlie may test positive with no perceivable power at all for a long time.
Mutations are not always powers, and they are not always weapons. But the HMDD is only interested in weeding out those who may have a weaponize mutation. The HMDD is a tool of oppression.
As you may have noticed, we're using these mutations as a metaphor for oppression, of any kind. Please don't make the metaphor do the work of fact.
Characters will also need to be currently living in Dead River, a small town of a few thousand, in rural New Hampshire. This is a former mill town with few job opportunities and an aura of despair.
