Urban Legends. Every town has them. From 30 foot alligators swimming in the sewers of New York, to the Lady standing behind the mirror awaiting for somebody to chant her name. An Urban Legend is defined as a modern story of obscure origin and with little or no supporting evidence that spreads spontaneously in varying forms and often has elements of humor, moralizing, or horror. We've heard them all. Each more laughable then the last.
But unfortunately for the small lake town of Bellmare, 'Legend' is the most incorrect of incorrect words. The entire town has heard it. The story of a nameless monster that hides in the forests surrounding the town. For the unlucky soul who encounters the creature, the horror doesn't end in the forest. The creature torments it's victim, following them on foot, until finally catching up on them and dragging them back into the woods from which he hails.
Adults in the town shook it off as a silly tale to keep kids from going into the forest, and so did the teens. Unfortunately for them, they were wrong. So Wrong.
How do you explain to a town, that a silly urban legend, is true? And is coming to get you, and your friends. When all others can't see the horrific fate that you can't avoid, what do you do? When nobody but those who are dying with you can understand the horrors of the unnamed creature, the only thing to do, is learn more about the tragic fate the lies in front of them.
With only a week to live, a group of teens must find the horrific and gruesome truth that belies the legend, now turned reality. What is it? Why does it want them? And What have they done?
