Fantasy DarKode Academy

Ravynne Clave

Professional Hunger Inducer

"Welcome to DarKode Academy, home to all beings with an ounce of magic running through their blood! This prestigious school has been left in the dark for far too long, admitting only the most promising of students in through their doors. And what comes out? Only the best alumni the school has ever had the pleasure of teaching!"

"We're known for being a little eccentric around here, but that's something we value within our walls! You'll be taught how to harness that power you've felt lurking inside you. All the while making friends, enemies, rivals even, and maybe you'll even find some love. Please be wary of the closed off corridors, they're that way for your own safety. As much as we encourage your curiosity, we don't take kindly to disobedience."

"Do you have what it takes to be welcomed into our academy? If you believe so, go straight ahead and register straight away. We'll be sure to review your form before either accepting or denying your admittance within our fold."

"Isn't it beautiful here? Don't be fooled simply by the outside. There is much to be feared within that we try our best to keep you away from. However, even we are not capable of keeping you safe forever. What part will you play within our story?"

"Oh? Do you wish to know who we are? Let me make the introductions. We're the Shadow Council. We're inferior only to the Headmaster and professors within the academy. We do have a limited number of members, however, but we're not exactly privy to how the Headmaster makes his decision."

Courtyard

A young woman with pale blonde hair made her way outside, her steps silent as she walked through the multitude of cherry blossom trees. The wind shifted slightly, swirling around the individual, sweeping up the scent of vanilla and pomegranate into the surrounding area. Cerulean irises skimmed the many students residing in the open area, relaxing and soaking in the rays of the sun. School wasn't meant to begin for another three weeks, but it was known to be open a month before so everyone could settle in. Caterina, herself, had been in the school for almost two months now. Being part of the Shadow Council, her attendance was scheduled for two weeks before the term.

'Well, my job isn't easy but it sure isn't boring, so I can't exactly complain,' she thought, running a and through her light colored hair. With a small sigh, she placed her green and black bag underneath a tree and lined a blanket just beside it. Sitting down on the soft fabric, she opened her bag and pulled out a journal. Caterina was in charge of writing down anything of importance that happened within the academy, so she could report it during the Shadow Council meetings. Her observations weren't to begin until after the term started, but she found herself immersed in studying the newcomers of the school. It was only her second year after all, just with a higher position than she had the year before.

"Makes a person wonder just how much people really pay attention," she muttered to herself, leaning her back against the bark of the tree behind her. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but she wasn't exactly in the mood to isolate herself within the confines of her cabin. Closing her eyes, she relaxed her body and tried to ignore the laughter around her. It was difficult to do, especially when a certain voice made its way into her sensitive ears.

'Great, Maliyah herself,' she thought, peeking through her right eye as she turned her head in the direction of the voice. Sure enough there sat the bane of her troubles: Maliyah Jayde Emerson, dressed in her usual inappropriate clothing. Unfortunately, Caterina was in no mood to deal with the woman so she turned away in an effort to ignore her presence. Or her very existence.

Said girl's lips turned up into her trademark smirk, having caught the Shadow Council President's eyes on her from her peripheral vision. It was a known fact that both women didn't get along, in fact, they utterly loathed one another. Maliyah, however, loved causing mischief, for she knew just how much Caterina despised having to have anything to do with her. Flipping a strand of flaxen hair behind her shoulder, she turned back to her friends as Lionel's voice reached her.

"-ook within the Restricted Section that has a variety of spells for some epic pranks!" Maliyah rose a delicate brow in question to her friend's statement.

"Epic pranks you say?" she asked him, catching sight of Macy's excited expression at the glint now within Maliyah's icy orbs. If there was one thing that was known about Maliyah and her crew, it was their incessant need and desire for pranks and mischief.

"What do you have in mind Liah?" Macy asked, practically jumping in her seat at the prospect of another prank. Lionel, Farah, and Thorton looked at the other girl and easily broke into fits of laughter. Students a few feet away from them caught sight of Macy's expression and stumbled away from the group of black clad teenagers. Rolling her eyes at their fear, the blonde stood up and dusted herself off.

"Let's head to the library, shall we?" she asked them, pulling Macy up with her as the others followed behind them instantly, "We have better chances of not being overheard there." Maliyah and her group made their way out of the courtyard, the crowd easily parting for the resident troublemaker as she walked into the building with her friends.

Thump.. Thump.. River's heart raced as he walked hesitantly toward the courtyard, practically dragging his feet as he went. School Who knew the thought could be so terrifying? For most everyone else it probably wasn't but for him, it was like the first time all over again. How many years had it been since he had actually been to a school? Too many. The closer he got the harder his heart pounded.

Why did I talk myself into this he thought, trying but failing to calm down. The sun was high in the sky, the crisp cool wind blowing through the surrounding areas carried various scents his way. He shivered but it wasn't the cold that brought on such an action. There were so many people, too many and as he reached the courtyard he froze, paralyzed. Fright found its purest form in him and at that moment breathing and moving seemed impossible.

His steel blue hues widened as he took in the crowd. What had he gotten himself into? He tried to breath but only managed to wheeze and he knew, if the panic he felt showed outwardly they would eat him alive. He wore a pair of loose skinnies, a purple shirt, sneakers and a light hoodie. The hood was pulled over his head, the pendent on his necklace reflecting the sunlight as it dangled on his chest.

Standing amongst the students, his steely eyes continued to rake the large crowd. With his face hidden in the shadows of the hood on his head it was impossible for anyone to outwardly see his panic though that didn't mean they couldn't sense it. How did it not cross my mind that there would be so many students? It wasn't that he was scared of people, why would he be? He just didn't like crowds, with all of their noise and the many different scents that found their way up his nose. It was all very nauseating and made him nervous, putting him on edge.

Still, despite his inner edginess he knew he had to keep cool. Maybe if I keep my head down and walk off they won't notice me he thought as he moved further forward. He had to get through this crowd and somewhere more private, he couldn't deal with this many people much longer.

His eyes planted their gaze on the ground as he began to push through the crowd. River didn't know where he was going but he continued, feeling something that urged him forward. What was it? It was strange but whatever it was, it felt familiar. The closer he got to the source the stronger the pull became. Then he saw her, the girl he had saved a year earlier was sitting under a tree.

Now he understood, it had been her scent that had drawn him. The sight of her was enough send his panic into overdrive. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. His heart fluttered while he shook under the emotion he felt suddenly rooted to the floor. Oh no! What if she sees me? Please, he begged silently, Please don't look up, please don't see me!

Courtyard

Caterina sat underneath the cherry blossom tree, her body lax as she relished in the sensation of the wind rustling her blonde hair and caressing her ivory skin. The noise of the many students around her was nothing but a buzz in the back of her mind. It had been so long since she had allowed herself to relax. A few people looked in her direction, marveling at the rare sight of her limp form against the bark of the tree. However, the young woman’s mind was currently overtaken by a memory, one that haunted her for almost a year now. The face of a nameless boy appeared in her mind’s eye, mesmerizing the vampire simply with his memory. She had searched for him days after that night, hoping he would appear before her as he had before. But he never did. Now, many months later, it was beginning to seem like a depressing desire.

‘I wonder where he is now. In fact, I wonder if he thinks of that night as much as I do,’ she thought, a soft sigh escaping her lips. It was a recurring dream of the night he saved her, there was hardly ever a day when he wasn’t in her mind. Caterina didn’t understand why he had run away after rescuing her. She hadn’t gotten to thank him that night, and her parents had been grateful to a man they didn’t even know. Running a pale hand through silken locks, she opened her heavy lids to reveal dazed cerulean orbs underneath. There was a noticeable trace of longing and sadness within their depths, something she instantly hid away with a few blinks. Straightening her back, she turned her head slightly to the right and frowned at the appearance of a new figure making his way through the crowd.

‘He wasn’t here before,’ she realized, her brows furrowing in her usual curious manner. There was an unfamiliar ache in her chest as she watched him make his way through the students. Shaking the feeling off, she turned away from the unknown male and picked up her bag from beside her. The multitude of people around her was beginning to irritate her. Standing up, she dusted off her blue halter sundress and pulled a leaf off the white wedges. Tossing her golden hair over her shoulder, Caterina moved away from the tree and began walking through the courtyard. It was too much to hope about leaving without interaction.

“President Caterina, good morning!” a female voice called from a little way to the right. Biting back a mournful sigh, the young woman turned to face the individual who had addressed her. She was a slight girl, but Caterina's eyes were on the pendant that resided around her neck. Dragon. The same as hers.

“Good morning to you as well,” she greeted the girl, smiling politely in her direction, “Was there something you wanted?”

‘It seems my trip to the cafeteria will have to wait for a while,’ she thought, pulling her bag further up her shoulder. The strap was beginning to dig into the flesh of her shoulder, and she regretted having packed so much for her small outing. She had planned to head into town and get away from the school. Students were only allowed off campus the month before school started and on weekends. Considering the agreeable weather and her free schedule, the vampire had been eager to head to her favorite shop just on the outskirts of the city.

“Not at all!” the student replied, waving at her before heading back to her friends. Caterina closed her eyes and placed a hand to her forehead, trying to ease the anger building up within her. It appalled her that the girl had approached her simply because she wished to. Just because the term hadn't started didn't mean she wasn't busy. If she hadn’t already sworn loyalty to the Shadow Council she would have demanded to be removed. The one thing she despised of her position was the near lack of solitude. Shaking her head, she walked between the students, nodding and smiling cordially at anyone who greeted her. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the same student she had noticed earlier. His appearance isn't what caused her to falter in her steps but the scent emanating from him.

'Caramel and black cherries?' Caterina thought, the aroma taking her back to a night of terror and wonder. The very same night she had begun to feel anything for anyone besides her family. Her eyes widened as she looked at the man. Despite not having seen his face, there was no doubt in her mind that he was the very person that had saved her that night. And he was only a few feet away from her. The question was: what was she to do now?

Corridors

Maliyah pulled Macy along by the wrist, the other girl not at all complaining at being dragged through the various corridors by the blonde. It wasn't unusual for Maliyah's friends to be manhandled. In fact, they relished in any sort of contact they could have with the rowdy woman. They'd been welcomed into her fold, trusted so long as they remained loyal to her. Nobody outside of their group could understand their friendship, their bond.

"What book exactly are we looking for?" Macy spoke up, moving her shorter legs faster in order to keep up with the one that was pulling her along. She hadn't been expecting for Maliyah to stop walking, so she hurtled forward and ended up with her face pressed against the taller girl's lean back.

"What book are we looking for exactly?" she asked Lionel, her gaze falling to the blonde male of their group. Said man smiled sheepishly, having forgotten to mention the title in his haste to tell them about its contents. It was a usual occurrence.

"Don't tell me you forgot the book's title," Thorton drawled, his dark eyes glaring into Lionel's in a way that made the only other man in the group fidget. Maliyah watched the exchange with amusement, her lip quirking into her signature smirk as she pulled Macy and Farah to her side.

"Now, now boys, there's no need to start anything without an audience," she told them, mischief evident in her silky voice, "We want innocent bystanders as casualties, don't we?" Most would have bolted at the absolute malice shining in her icy orbs, but her friends were only amused by the sadist that was their leader.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go wreak some havoc!" Farah cried, fist pumping up into the air as she took off down the corridor and down the right hallway. Maliyah quirked a pale brow, tilting her head slightly to the right.

"Wrong way, Fay!" she called out, a small chuckle escaping from her lips the instant she saw her friend run back and the left. Laughter erupted through the corridors, but it was the dark chuckle that froze the blood in the veins of those that heard it.

Moments passed and to his dismay her eyes turned to meet his. Oh my God, she sees me... SHE SEES ME! River thought to himself with panic, eyes wide as he slid one foot a half step back. His heartbeat pounded in his own ears, deafening him with the roar of his blood. “Stay back” he had meant to sound more confident but as he spoke his voice lacked power, strength and came out as more of a whisper. Crap! I can't even speak right Frustration mixed with his panic, why was it that she had such an effect on him?

He knew the answer even as he thought it. She was the only witness to the act he had committed the year before. Something he wanted to forget, he would like nothing more but no. It was impossible, even as she haunted his very thoughts, that night haunted his dreams. The night he had killed someone for the first time. It still baffled him, it was not out of character to jump in and defend someone in need. But never before had he lost his control. What was it that had made him lose it? The look on her face. Fear, why did she had to fear such lowlifes?

She shouldn't have to and the sentiment that she had to made him angry. But if it were any other girl, those men would still be walking the streets. Somehow he knew this but why? Why did he feel so strongly for her? It was the uncertainty that scared him. He didn't even hear her words. Her eyes were locked with his and even though she made no move toward him he spun on his heels and ran.

River forgot about everyone else around him. They were nonexistent as he bolted for the first building he could find. He didn't know if she would follow him or not but he didn't stop until he was hidden in the shadows of the building he'd entered. Letting the duffle over his shoulder fall to the floor he slid down the wall and sat there hugging his knees. Perspiration gathered on his brow, wetting his bangs and gluing them in place. His face was pale, his skin clammy and his heart raced at 90 miles an hour. What was he going to do? He couldn't stay here, now that he knew she was here. His heart sank, he didn't want to leave. Especially knowing she was here. River sighed “what am I going to do?”

Courtyard/Corridor

An ache bloomed in her chest, struck by the presence of the man who had been haunting her every thought and dream since the night he had rescued her. She still didn't know why he had done it or even who he was, but he was in front of her. She felt the urge to be closer more prominent than it had ever been. But the panic in his eyes kept her at bay, only causing curiosity to well up within the vampire. She couldn't fathom why he would look like that, that expression didn't belong on his face. He was strong and brave; he had saved her and yet he looked so vulnerable at that very moment. And then he spoke, his voice weak and shaken, but his words pierced her nonetheless.

'Me? I caused that look?' she asked herself, taking a step back when he demanded she keep away from him. Her pale brows furrowed, her heart beginning to pound rapidly within her chest as her own emotions went haywire within her body. She was confounded, afraid, thrilled, and utterly terrified all at once. Caterina had never been in a situation where she couldn't decipher her own emotions. Before she could put a name to what she was feeling he bolted. Was he so repulsed by her presence that he wanted to be nowhere near her? And then she felt it, something familiar and burning hot in her veins. Anger. It rippled through her body like lava, coursing and scorching her from the inside out. She didn't care that there were spectators, that people were watching in curiosity and excitement. Of course, finally some gossip about the ever-so-perfect Caterina; it was no surprise that they were watching her as if she were an experiment. But they didn't matter. Only one person did. And with that, she ran.

'He can't get away, I need to see him, to speak to him. He just can't vanish after all this time,' she thought, her golden hair flying behind her as she sprinted down the corridors in hopes of finding him. She used his scent, that aroma that had captivated her and stayed with her since that night, and followed it desperately to find him. Caterina had waited so long to see him, to ask him why he had saved her, to thank him even if he hadn't wanted it.

"Don't leave!" she cried out, her eyes burning and she couldn't for the life of her figure out why, "Please, you just can't leave!" Her body shuddered with her warring emotions, halting her body to the point where she fell on her knees in the corridor. She'd run for quite some time, but it was her emotions that had her so exhausted. She'd never felt so much in such a short time. A shaking hand reached up and brushed her flaxen hair out of her face, troubled blue eyes looking up at the ceiling above her.

'Maybe... he doesn't want to be found,' she thought sadly, leaning her back against the inner wall of the corridor, pushing her book bag off her body and away from her.

River didn't go so far that he was completely out of her reach. Her voice still reached him and the sound of it broke his will to run. Why? He couldn't understand it. He was a complete stranger, one that she had witnessed kill so why would she come after him? What made her want to see him so desperately? Shouldn't she be afraid of him? That night, all those months ago, his hands had been stained in blood for the first time. She had been there, been the reason he’d killed. Hadn’t she been horrified at the sight? She had seen him that way and yet she still called after him.

He could hear the slight tremmer in her ton, had he made her cry? He bit his lip listening to her in the near distance. He couldn't let her cry, not when it was his fault. He was so confused, he couldn't understand why a girl like her would waist her time chasing after him. His body felt like lead as he pushed himself up and returned to the corridor where she sat. Pushing the hood of his jacket back he revieled locks as black as night as he sunk to the ground before her allowing his bangs to hide his steely blue eyes. “Why?” he questioned, his voice soft “Why do you come after me?”

He sat across from her, legs crossed Indian style and he couldn't even look her in the eyes. “Please… Don't cry… I could never forgive myself if I made you cry” His clothes weren't expensive, in fact they were probably cheap knock off brand. His sneakers were worn and his hoodie, clearly his favorite, also showed signs of wear. Why would someone so well taken care of even give him the time of day?

Corridor

Caterina looked down, her blonde hair obscuring her face from view as her thoughts began to overwhelm her. She still didn't understand why he had run away. Was her first assumption right? Did she repulse him? Did he hate her? Even if he had saved her he had killed in order to do it. Could it be that he blamed her for the blood that he had shed? Her heart only ached with each passing question, ingraining themselves within her mind even as she tried to force them out. She didn't want to think like that but what else could it be? So consumed by her thoughts was she that she never realized that the very person she was chasing was approaching her. It was only his voice that allowed her to break through the surface of her proverbial ocean of doubts.

She didn't dare look up for fear that it was just her imagination playing tricks on her. After so long he was finally before her. It would be much too cruel if he vanished after she had finally seen him. It's all her heart had been yearning for since the day he'd rescued her and disappeared. He hadn't waited for her gratitude, he hadn't told her his name. He had compelled her the moment she had seen him; he was her savior and the one person she wanted to see more than anyone else.

"Please... " she whispered, her voice soft and pleading wavered with longing, "Tell me your name. I-I have to know..." She didn't care that she sounded desperate, that her mask was failing her. Caterina didn't want to put up a mask, not in his presence. If anything, she wanted to be genuine and she felt he could free her of her constraints. Lifting her head, she looked at the man that had basically carved himself into her heart.

"I've wanted to thank you for so long... but you vanished and I... I was unable to express my gratitude for that night," she explained, her cerulean orbs shining with an emotion even she couldn't decipher. She couldn't see his face; he wasn't looking at her. However, it was him. His scent was embracing her, mesmerizing her due to his close proximity. His hair, as dark as the night when he had saved her, was all she could see of him. She paid no mind to his attire. It was him that she had longed to see.

'He doesn't hate me.. right? He said he didn't want to see me cry, so he can't possibly hate me, right?' she asked herself, her heart lightening at the thought. Her hands clenched into fists, long nails digging into the flesh of her palm. There was a strong urge to touch him, to prove to herself that he was real. But she held back. There was no way she was going to risk him running away again.

River sat before the girl in fear. The very questions he had asked, he was afraid to hear her answers to them! And then they came. The answers he had been so terrified to hear but they were so different from what he was expecting that it took him a moment to process it. Wait, what? Thank him? Didn't she want him persecuted for murder? His brows furrowed as he finally lifted his head to meet her currealan blue irises. There was clear emotion there, none of which showed any sign of hatred or disgust.

“Thank me?” he questioned softly, keeping his tone low to avoid being overheard by snoopers. “Why? Aren't you horrified by me? I killed people in front of you… I'm a killer… You… Don't hate me?” Had he been wrong all along? It seemed so and it was such a huge weight off of his shoulders. How long had he run from that night? For months and now he knew that he didn't have to. She didn't hate him!

He sighed, his shoulders relaxing “My name… Is River, and I'm the one who saved you that night. But this doesn't seem like the place to discuss this. Do you have some place else in mind?” His eyes glanced around taking in the crowd, some standing in groups talking in hushed manners. Closing his eyes he shook his head before he stood from the floor and offered her a hand up.

It was like he was a totally different person, the fear he had been experiencing was completely wiped away with a few words and the guy he was could now show through. Being part cat really had its flaws, one of which was his weakness to his own emotions. In him they were heightened and at times they could be paralyzing but for now they had lost their power over him. Once she was on her feet and he knew she was steady he rounded the corner for just a moment to retrieve his own bag. There it was, right where he had left it, undisturbed and he hoisted it rather quickly and easily, slinging it over one shoulder before he returned to her side. “I'll let you lead the way”

It was torture for Caterina as she waited for the man to respond to her questions. After so long, after so much waiting, she was finally going to know who he was. There would be a name to the man who had saved her and consumed her very being with his existence. And then he lifted his head, stealing the very breath from her lungs as her eyes took in his facial features. Her memory had done him no justice that night, and she couldn't blame it on the shadows that had obscured most of the alley. He was more handsome than she remembered, there was a grace to his features that she hadn't been aware of before. And his eyes were a strong shade of blue that she couldn't place on anyone else.

'How is it that none of this ever made itself known in my mind? How could I forget the heart-clenching shade of those eyes?' she asked herself, unable to help the shiver that wracked her frame as she gazed upon him after so long. However, his voice once more brought her out of her reverie and back to the present. She reprimanded herself for getting lost in her thoughts when he was right in front of her. She couldn't help the small upturn of her lips at his questions, finding it entirely endearing yet baffling that she could ever hate him. Caterina wanted to reassure him that she couldn't hate him, not ever, but the easing of the tension in his body was enough a sign that he already knew. Or at least suspected. She placed her hand in his, ignoring the warmth that engulfed her at the simple gesture, and allowed herself to be assisted to her feet. Closing her eyes, she allowed her mask to be placed firmly in place and turned to the lingering individuals.

"I'd advise you all to vacate the corridor and head to the library, courtyard, dining hall, or your dorms. Unless you wish to get a detention before the term has even begun," she announced, cold blue eyes daring any of them to challenge her. Her voice itself was dark, chilling really with her demand. It didn't take long for them to leave, but a few strayed behind which she thought must have been first years. However, a few words from older students got them moving as well. One stayed behind and bowed slightly.

"I'm sorry if we caused you any trouble President Caterina, I'll lead them to the dining hall right away," the young girl told her, receiving only a simple nod from the vampire. As soon as she was out of sigh, Caterina's entire frame relaxed. Quickly, her now warm blue orbs found River's and a genuine smile came upon her lips. She lifted her bag from the floor and placed in on her shoulder before walking toward him.

"We can head to my room. There are huge perks to being the Shadow Council President," she told him, making her way down the hallway and up a flight of stairs that was just around the corner, "But if you ever meet a girl named Maliyah don't ever tell her I said that!" With that said, she continued until she was at the top of the stairs. There was a door at the very top with the crest of the Shadow Council on the center. It was beyond that where the Shadow Council dorms were. Caterina pulled out a key from her book bag, placing it in the lock before she opened the door. A large hallway lay before them, many doors outlining each side. However, it was the one at the very end of the hall that she went to.

Caterina's Dorm

"Well, this is the most private place I can think of," she told him, stepping into her bedroom. It was spacious with an elegant decor of green and black, tones of silver and white placed within in random intervals. She moved to the center of the room where many cushions and a sofa were placed for any guests she may have, which usually only consisted of the Shadow Council, and sat down on the couch.

"I'm Caterina, by the way," she told him, "Please, sit. I can't properly thank you otherwise. Would you like anything to drink?" She was already moving off the couch to head to the small kitchen placed in her room.

Rowan entered to schoolyard and wandered around, looking up at the tall buildings. She wondered which one would house her dorm. She continued on, feeling many pairs of eyes on her. Behind her, people whispered. "Do you see that girl? I think she's the one that died and was revived." Apparently someone had found out about her and word spread like wildfire. She ignored all of them, though kept her cheery face on as she pretended to enjoy being there, surrounded by new faces. She longed to be in her room, all alone, but she knew it wasn't possible, not at the moment. Eventually, she wandered over to a set of trees. She leaned up against one, holding up her pendant in one hand while rubbing the other one on her tattoo. Falcon, the symbol for loyalty. She couldn't help but laugh a little. Man did they get her wrong. She couldn't trust a soul. Not at all. Next to her, a vine crept down to her and loosely wrapped around her wrists.

Courtyard

It was her first day at the academy and she was really nervous. She rolled a large luggage bag behind her as she walked. The transcendent vampire looked around the campus trying to find the dormitories. A sigh escaping her plump lips. "I am horrible at reading maps." Kasper holds up the map her deep grey irisis moving along the paper and looking up at the buildings. Stopping in her tracks as she gazes around. The buildings were actually beautiful in an academic sorta way. The grounds were well kept. Long ebony strands cascaded down her slim back and fell over her slim shoulders. Kasper's skin a paling bronze. The transcendent vampire wore a light blue tank top beneath a white sweater dress paired with deep blue leggings and black heeled boots.

Deciding to seat on a bench near by while she figures things out placing the large luggage bag beside the bench. Leaning back against the bench with another sigh. After a rest she will start her journey once again. The scent of the trees wafting up her nose. Tilting her head back she looked up at the sky admiring how clear it was. Kasper wasn't sure exactly how the academy found her and why they thought she was a good fit for it. But here she was ready to learn. As she relaxed she heard a crowd near by talking and laughing. However she grabbed her head and placed it down between her legs trying to stop the loud thoughts coming through. That was her problem her psionic manipulation gave her massive headaches if there were to many loud thoughts going at once. That is why she was there at the academy in hopes of finding a way to help settle the pain.

Taking deep breaths as her head was down and her eyes closed. After awhile the crowed moved on and the pain slowly turned dull and the transcendent vampire lifted her head blinking slowly.

The sudden change in the girls mood surprised River to the core but for some reason she didn't frighten him. There was athouraty in her voice and it compelled those nearby to obey, even if they didn't want to. It was interesting to see but he didn't have long to think about it before her smile was back in place. His only response was a simple nod as he followed her up the stairs and through a door with an interesting symbol on it.

“You don't have to worry about it. Whoever it is your talking about, if you don't want her to know that then its not any of her business.” For him it was just that simple and he wouldn't say anything. Not one syllable but he shrugged it off as though it were nothing while he waited for her to unlock the door. On the other side of the wooden door was a beautiful room decorated in elegant and exquisite color. Each one complimented the other giving the space a unique yet comfortable atmosphere.

Upon her request he sat on one of the various pillows around the table, sitting his duffle beside him. “If you have milk I would very much like a glass” he replied still so quietly letting himself fall back on the floor with a tired sigh. The journey here had been a long and exhausting one and he found that, now that he was relaxed, his eyes felt heavy. Sleep isn't an option right now, he told himself, there is too much to discuss. Sighing once more his arms rested above his head and for the longest time he simply stared at the ceiling.

I can't believe I'm actually here, in her dorm room. What a turn of events this has been… This was the last place he had expected to run into her, especially since it was so far away from the place he had saved her. He knew she probably had a million questions to ask and he waited patiently for her to ask them.

It was a beautiful day at the academy, the sun shined brightly in the sky, filling the air with just enough warmth to be comfortable. The wind was still cool and paired with the heat of the day it made for the perfect atmosphere. The blossoms on the trees had already begun to bud, filling them with pretty little pink pods, the ground sprouting vibrant new grass. Students milled about, chattering and conversing amongst themselves while some simply enjoyed the nice weather.

On a hill between the gate and courtyard, a male was sprawled out in the grass soaking up the warm rays of sunlight. Zylen had arrived yesterday and since there was still time before classes officially began he had decided to spend the day enjoying the natural beauty of the land. Spring was his favorite season, the days weren't too hot or cold, just right for lounging lazily in the grass. It was also perfect for a picnic with someone special but he hadn't found that person yet.

It was a dream of his, to go on a picnic with his one and someday he would but first he had to find her. He had been there long enough that he was floating somewhere between sleep and awareness when a shadow drifted over him. Blinking he sat up to catch the back of the violet haired girl walking away. She was dragging luggage behind her and he could only assume that she was a new arrival. Running a hand through silky black locks he yawned “I wonder if she needs help” he mumbled to himself, dark brown eyes following her slim figure as she took a seat on a nearby bench. The way she looked about made him believe so and so he pushed up on his feet dusting off the back of his jeans before he approached her.

He was dressed comfortably in a blue loose fitting tee and a pair of jeans, the chain around his neck hidden within his shirt while another lay exposed, a white chain with a red Griffin on it. Jogging up to the bench at which she sat he smiled “Hel...” He began, halting as he caught the mass amount of energy swirling around her. What? He had to take a step back to assess her a little better. She looked pale, what could be causing this?

Ethereal energy swormed around her and he knew what he had to do. Tapping into that part of him that controlled this certain type of energy he pushed it from her, creating a shield around her to block it from getting to her. “Miss, are you ok?”

Caterina' s Dorm Room

Caterina was unable to explain how she was feeling. Finally, she would get the answers that had been plaguing her since the night he had rescued her. She still didn't understand the fear that had overwhelmed her that night, couldn't believe that with all her power she had been helpless to do anything but freeze as they approached her. Shaking those thoughts aside, she attempted to still the shiver that raced through her body but was unable to. That night still haunted her to this very day. Gently, she placed a cup on its saucer and filled it with milk, recapping it before placing it back within the refrigerator.

"Here you are," she told him, placing the cup right in front of him on the coffee table. Hesitantly, she took her seat on the couch and smoothed out the skirt of her dress. He was right in front of her, and she couldn't think of anything to say. The pounding of her heart against her rib-cage was erratic, harshly thumping against her chest in a rhythm that baffled her. She had never been so nervous and so excited at the same time. She clenched her hands into fists, the material of her dress bunching around her slim fingers. Taking a deep breath, she looked up at River, fearful that if she glanced away he would no longer be before her.

"I'm sorry for having reacted the way I did," she whispered, her voice soft and breathy, "It's just.. I didn't think I would see you again. I was overcome with so much panic and terror. I've wanted to know for so long why you saved me, who you were, to thank you and..." Her voice wavered, indecision flashing within her ocean orbs on how to continue. There was so much she wanted to say, so many things she wanted to ask, but she didn't know how to voice them without sounding stupid. Caterina couldn't begin to fathom the maelstrom of emotions within her, the sensations that overcame her at the sight of him. She had felt something similar when he saved her, but this was stronger and harder to ignore than the last time.

'What am I feeling?' she asked herself, her pale brows furrowing in confusion, 'Why is it only with him that these emotions surface? Who is he to produce this warmth within my heart?'

Library

They had been searching for the book for a while now, Lionel having forgotten the title the moment he placed it back on the shelf. It was irritating just as much as it was amusing, but it was a usual occurrence with him and should have been expected.

"How the hell does a person forget the title of a book that damn fast?" Thorton groaned, burying his face in his hands after placing another book on the shelf, "Do you even remember where exactly in the library it was?" Lionel was unsure, he had been so excited to tell his friends about it that he hadn't paid attention to anything else. His sheepish smile was enough answer for the rest of them because they merely shook their heads in exasperation.

"Yo, shut the hell up and just keep looking for it!" Maliyah scolded them, tossing a book at Thorton which hit the unprepared man on the back of the head. He stumbled forward, arching his back against the pain, and slamming against the shelf he had been leaning against. More books fell from the shelf, hitting the pained male and causing him to fall to the floor due to the onslaught. Nobody said anything, staring wide-eyed at the pile of books that had buried their friend. A smooth chuckle captured their attention, and they all swiveled their heads in the direction of the sound. Maliyah stood against the opposite shelf, a pale hand against her pink lips as her eyes shined with mirth.

"Only you could find this amusing," Thorton muttered, digging himself out of the pile of books to stand up. He winced as the corner of one of them dug into his upper thigh.

"Of course I find it amusing. Who knew, death by books; reading really is dangerous," she drawled, her lips turning up into her signature smirk as she flipped her blonde hair over her right shoulder. And then laughter was all that could be heard from their corner.

Finally, they had arrived. The drive had been exhausting for him, having to sit behind the wheel for near nine hours. He parked the car near the entrance, opening his door only to head to the passenger seat and open it for the woman that had been sitting beside him. The man was tall with tousled brown hair, strong features, and navy blue eyes. He was dressed in black slacks and a blue dress shirt, the top three buttons undone to reveal a smooth, muscled chest beneath and black dress shoes. This was Terrence.

"We're here, Lota," he told the woman, reaching forward to take her hand and pull her out of the car, "This is where we will be staying for the next few months." Looking behind him, he caught sight of the splendid building that stretched before them. It was made of black and white marble and exuded elegance and beauty to any onlooker. It was a shame that humans would never be able to behold the magnificence that was DarKode Academy. The woman with him was under his protection, but he couldn't deny that he wanted her safe for more than just the investigation. He had become increasingly attached to her since she had been placed in his care.

"Hurry up and get out of the car already!" he called to the other two, not even bothering to turn to them as he began pulling the bags out of the trunk. He was not the least bit surprised by the many bags Katniss had packed, his cousin tended to dote rather obsessively on his mate. Someday, he would probably be the same way. A mate was a precious-
the most precious- person to a demon like them. With a sigh, he began pulling the bags out and placing them down before reaching for more. He would have to call his brother and sister to assure them that he had made it to his destination safely.

"Shut the hell up, T. I'll help with the bags," another man said. He was the opposite of the first, with blue hair upon his head and emerald green eyes that blazed a near acidic color. His hair had at one point been green, but he had dyed it before he'd taken the position at the academy. He was dressed in black jeans with leather combat boots and a green button up shirt and a black leather jacket. His name was Hephastus. Reaching into the car, he wrapped an arm around the other woman within and pulled her out and against his chest.

"Wake up, vixen, we're already here," he whispered into her ear, purposely blowing against her ear before placing a chaste kiss on her mating mark. He didn't care that she would be a student and he he would be her professor, by demonic laws they were already married and no one would stop him from showering her with affection. He'd sooner kill them before he ever decided to act like a responsible adult, "If you're still tired I can always carry you to our home off campus." Hephastus refused to stay within the academy, purchasing a home just a little away so he would be within walking distance. Unfortunately, Katniss had to remain within her dorm when the term started but that wasn't for another month. Once he was sure she wouldn't crawl back into the car to sleep, he released her from his embrace and went to help Terrence with the luggage.

"Give me that." He took the violet suitcase out of his hands and tossed it onto his shoulder while he picked up another two that he knew belonged to his mate, "Go an take care of your charge. I got everything over here. Besides, someone needs to watch the car while I put all this away." Gently, he pushed his cousin toward Lota and proceeded to make his way into the academy with the suitcases. He could already feel the stares boring into him, some irritating him when a group of females smiled in a way they believed to be seductive. He was mated, for Hell's sake! No doubt Terrence would receive the same reception when they caught sight of him.

A slight breeze picked up, rustling golden hair and causing it to sway gently against the alabaster skin of the woman that stood just beside the gate. Her violet eyes took in the cherry blossom trees that littered the courtyard, the many students lounging in the jade grass, and the glorious beauty that was the building towering just beyond. It wasn't what she had expected, the striking and gorgeous allure that just begged to be admired. Gently, she eased a stray lock of flaxen hair behind her ear, exposing the violet snowflake earring that dangled from her lobe. She was dressed in a violet summer dress, the top clinging to her torso while it flared at the hips and stopped his above her knees. White, wrap-around wedges finished the ensemble and a white handbag was slung over her shoulder.

'He really outdid himself here, didn't he?' she asked herself, a small smile appearing on her rosy lips as she began making her way into the academy. It had been much too long since she had been in the company of so many people, but she was looking forward to teaching them. From what she knew, Nefertiri and Ashlin had yet to arrive, needing to tie any loose ends before leaving the palace. 'Now, where am I supposed to find the library? It would be best to just ask.' There was a young woman just a little away, leaning against a tree. She doubted that the students had explored the grounds too much, and she didn't want to assume anything so she decided it would be best to find it herself. Shaking her head, the blonde hair brushing against her bare shoulders, the woman walked through the courtyard and toward the corridor that led into the school.

"Excuse me?"

She turned around, catching sight of a girl with vibrant red hair and misty blue eyes. Had she not been approached by her she might have thought she was blind. Tilting her head slightly, a habit whenever she was curious, she quirked a delicated brow in question.

"Yes, may I help you?" she asked the girl, a polite smile on her angelic face. Misa wasn't bothered by being approached, at this moment she welcomed any sort of communication. Alexander, Ashlin, and Nefertiri weren't due for a few more hours at least, and she was there for the students so it would be best that she became acquainted with them.

"I'm sorry, but I'm Thessaly. I'm a student here, and I was just wondering who you were," the young woman replied, fiddling with the Griffin pendant around her neck. Misa couldn't help but be endeared by the sight. The girl was young, possibly a first year, and guessing by the group watching nearby she had been sent to ask about her identity. It would seem rather curious, she had arrived without any luggage after all.

"My name is Misa Ameranth," she answered, watching as the girl's eyes lit up with recognition. It wasn't a surprise, most vampires had that same reaction after hearing it, "I'm to be your Deputy Headmistress and Potions Professor in a month's time."

"Really?! My friends and I had our suspicions, what with the markings on your skin and everything," the girl gushed, gesturing to the blue tattoos on that were visible on Misa's body and had been with her since her coronation, "But we just couldn't believe that
you, a Queen, would be here. And as a professor no less!" Misa tried not to be offended by the girl's reaction, deciding to simply smile politely and nod when appropriately. She could already hear the whispers circulating around the other students; the young woman hadn't been very quiet in her excitement.

"My status has nothing to do with it. I'm here as a favor to a friend and because I wish to be. Now, if you'll excuse me," she told her, inclining her head in the student's direction before continuing on her way. She didn't see the girl run off to tell her friends what she had discovered.

Kasper blinked her eyes for a moment in wonder before a males soft voice reached her ears. "How did you do that? I am okay...The thoughts are slower." Lifting her deep grey eyes up looking the male in the eyes. "Thank you for whatever you did. My psionic manipulation gives me massive migraines when to many loud thoughts hit me at one time. My name is Kasper Avery Desmond and Yes I would appreciate your help finding my dorm." Lifts up the necklace that has a black chain and a green dragon pendant hanging from it. Ebony waist length strands falling around her. The transcendent vampire shook somewhat but she smiled anyway.

"My hero." Kasper's voice was shaky and she put her head back against the bench. "You must regret coming to ask if I needed help." Taking in several deep breaths before spotting a water fountain across the way. "I would get water but I can't move till the ground stops and I can't use my ability till my head stops hurting. Would you save me once more?" The transcendent vampire asked shyly looking as if she was going to be sick.

The young woman took the older male's hand and got out of the car giggling softly to herself as the demon male complained to his cousin. "Katniss sure can sleep anywhere." Lota stretched her slim body while looking over at the academy. "Wow fancy." The marble building was almost as beautiful as the two males eyes were. "Terrence your going to poke a very unhappy Hephastus. Being that tall must suck when your stuck in the back seat." Sliverish white thigh length hair was pulled back into two low messy style buns at the back of her head. The celestial elf wore a black and pink Chinese style dress that stopped just bellow her thighs paired with white knee high stockings and Black stiletto heeled boots.

Deep sapphire blue hues casually watching the demon. Terrence is a very stunning male with beyond handsome chiseled facial features and a body that male models would be jealous of. Lota would be lying if she said she was used to how woman fall over the two males just with a single glance. But she was no better when Terrence would smile at her she could hear her heart pound and she only could hope he can't hear it. Honestly the celestial elf was excited to be under the agents protection it gave her time to get to know him. Though there are times that staying with a male could be embarrassing and that is when she thought he was at work and the radio on for music and was taking a shower with an unlocked bathroom door. "Look you two are already getting a fan club."

The mai female yawned and stretched as she was pulled from the car and hugged against a hard perfectly muscled chest. "I'm up." Those sweet lips on her neck made her giggle seductively. Looking at the academy with a heavy sigh. "Do I really have to attend?" She wasn't looking forward to being away from her mate. Her black mid back length hair was down and held into place at the sides by four silver hair pins to keep it out of her face. She wore a deep green tank top with a black lace top, the front stopped above her belly button while the back was knee length which was paired with deep wash skinny jeans and black combat boots. "This place really can't be seen by humans?" Being held close by her mate was like feeling as if they were the only two on the planet.

Terrence groaned, having caught sight of the women eyeing his cousin. Even worse, Hephastus' comment only turned some of the attention to him. He could feel their stares boring into him, and he was becoming increasingly uncomfortable under their gaze. There was no way he was going to tell Zerrian about the reception he'd received at the academy, his older brother would no doubt laugh at his expense.

'Then again, I could always tease him on his unrequited crush on Daphne. A half-demon in love with an Angel-Fae, who knew that would happen,' he thought, thoroughly amused by the situation his brother had found himself in. From what Marishka and Natisha had told him Daphne was fascinated by another man. One that knew Avarin. It had confounded them for a few moments, but he had been unable to pay any attention to the report given by the blonde or the redhead. Terrence doubted Natisha was paying attention either. She was much too busy glaring at Derek from what he remembered. Now that was some unusual tension he had felt coming from the two.

'I'm no better myself actually; I'm in love with a cold-hearted woman, one that seems far more interested in her past than any future I could give her,' he reminded himself, pushing the thoughts of lilac hair and emotionless violet eyes out of his mind. He hadn't thought of Tsubaki since he had begun protecting Lota. With a sigh, he approached the silver-haired female and leaned against the side of the car beside her.

"From what I know this will be the best place to keep you safe. They have a committee that literally deals with security here," he told her, running a hand through his brown-bronze hair. He was, of course, referring to the Shadow Council. They were trained to deal with any issues the academy may face.

Hephastus ignored the insufferable females that dare eye him. They obviously had no respect for a mated man or for themselves. It was the men, however, that were beginning to really try his patience. Their eyes were riveted to the lovely young woman beside him, practically undressing her with their gazes. She was his, she had his mark, and he wasn't going to let some inflamed teenagers with no control over their desires anywhere near Katniss.

"Unfortunately, you will have to endure the presence of these lowlifes," he growled, the sound deep and husky which only resulted in two reactions. Fear from the men and pleasure from the women. The blue-haired man was becoming increasingly aware of why he was needed to teach the students; they obviously didn't have any self-control and he might have to beat it into them. Snaking his free arm around Katniss' waist, he pulled the mai close to his side and glared to a man that had the audacity to gape at her in undisguised lust. The further he was in the vicinity of all those people the more he wanted his claws to shred through their flesh and shed their repulsive essence.

'Not even two minutes and I'm already having homicidal thoughts,' he mentally sighed, his mood plummeting rather rapidly. He placed the suitcase down by a pillar near the corridor and turned to wrap his arms around his mate. Leaning down, he placed his lips against hers, a thrill rushing through his blood at her proximity. He needed to be in constant contact with her or he'd go insane. They're mating bond was still rather new, and he was insatiable for her touch.

The celestial elf look over at the demon male leaning against the car and gave an apologetic smile. "Must be hard to babysit instead of being in the field." Lota felt bad for him having to watch her like this. "I will manage going to the academy though the uniforms will take some time to get used to." Terrence sometimes feels off in his own head and she feels like a bother to him. Deep sapphire blue orbs dance around at every detail clearly avoiding eye contact with the older male. Her heart won't stop fluttering and him being just an inch away from her didn't help. Sometimes being seventeen sucked because she couldn't shut off these unknown feelings. Mal was different sure he was hot but he was like a brother but Terrence wasn't and he was way to gorgeous to be single. Now he is stuck guarding her while his fellow FBI agents figure out what to do about the target on her back.

Back to her main thought however her heart fluttering like a petal on the wind. 'Please settle down.' She screamed at herself as she continued to look everywhere else. 'He has enough to worry about then my attraction.' Lota then moved her attention to the boys that were gathering rolling deep sapphire blue irisis. "Move along we aren't interested." Sighing as the boys stared that is a reason she was more into men and not boys. Though she hasn't ever dated anyone but has been on one single date that ended with Mal injuring the boy for forcing her to kiss him. Being a teenage girl is difficult especially with all the emotions that haven't been figured out yet. The demon she is trying so hard not to make eye contact with has been on her mind a lot for awhile now. The celestial elf was afraid that if he looked into her eyes that he would be able to read every thought about him. However it wasn't much expect for her remembrance of being shielded by his way to perfect body or the sexy lazy half smile he gets.

"I will try to make your position of protector as painless as possible." Lota then eyed a girl that was so disgustingly undressing Hephastus with her eyes. "Hello stalk much? Can't you use those huge eyes of yours to see that he is technically married. Shoo be gone annoying female." Waves the girl off like an annoying fly.

Katniss let herself be pulled into Hephastus's side. "It seems that we are already making an impression on our fellow classmates and your two's students." Green cat like eyes move over her mate's expression and placing her hands gently on his chest. "Don't worry about those boys I have no interest in no other especially teenage boys that lust over anything with women parts. I don't need that when I have a man that knows how to treat me." The mai female kisses him deeply with a blissful sigh. "I love you my most prized emerald." Her eyes unmoving form Hephastus's.

Seeing that she was getting to many looks and it was really irritating the older male she put on his discarded jacket that was left on the back seat. "No manners what so ever." Katniss turned her head hissing at the females eyeing her husband. "If you want to live till classes start I suggest you eye another man because if you don't I will gladly rip them out for you." Her eyes flashing dangerously showing her hellcat demon aura.

Terrence was becoming increasingly curious of the young woman beside her. She wasn't someone he could easily figure out, and he had tried during the few months that she had been with him. She was beautiful, that couldn't be denied, and she had a melancholy air about her that only further intrigued him. He learned something new about her every day, and yet he felt he was no closer to discovering the mystery that she was. Leaning back, he looked up at the sky, his head resting against the top of the car.

"You're not a burden, and I don't mind protecting you. Trust me, I'm actually rather relieved to be away from the field," he told her, closing his eyes to ease the onslaught of the sun, "Zerrian can handle it all on his own, and Ravynne is going on tour with Muse Origin soon so she won't be around anymore." He had been really upset when his younger sister had informed him that she would only been in San Francisco for a few more months. Their first tour had been so successful that they had managed to book gigs in other countries right away. She wasn't due to leave for a few months, but it didn't help that he was disappointed about her departure. He was proud of her, of course, but he missed spending time with his younger sister.

"Besides, you're the first person I've ever been tasked to protect, so I'm going to do my best not to make it painful for you," he told her, opening his eyes and raising a brow in her direction when he heard her talking to someone else. Well, talking would have been an understatement, she was basically reprimanding the girl. Terrence couldn't help the warmth that emanated within his chest and spread through his body. At that moment, while she was scolding the other girl, he had been entirely captivated by the fire that had shone within her eyes.

'The hell Terrence, she's your charge. The last thing she needs- or even wants for that matter- is you having some strange attraction to her,' he mentally berated himself, irritated by the images that had revolved around his mind. Perhaps confiding in Zerrian would be the best thing after all, laughter be damned!

"Technically married?" he asked her, running a hand through his sandy hair.

"I couldn't care less what these imbeciles think. They shouldn't even be looking at you," he snarled, his eyes taking on a red hue around the iris when he caught sight of a boy raking his undeserving eyes over his wife's body. Even if they hadn't had a ceremony- which he planned to remedy in the near future- in the eyes of the magical community they were married. What the humans believed didn't matter, but he wanted to allow his family and mother to bond over something like a wedding ceremony. As much as he wanted to tear that boy's eyes out of his skull, and he wanted to very much, his little vixen was a distraction when she placed her lips on his. If he could have any weakness her kisses would definitely be it.

"I love you, e dashur," he whispered into her ear, pulling her close to his chest just to feel the curves of her soft body pressing against his own harder frame. He couldn't even begin to describe how arousing it was to see her in his jacket, the fabric draped over her slim shoulders. His lips twitched, a smirk fighting to make itself known, as Katniss hissed at one of the women who had apparently been eyeing him. He had been much too busy gazing at her to really pay attention to anything else.

"Calme-vous, mon cher," he soothed, pressing kisses along her jaw to try and ease the tension which had found its way into her body. The people in the courtyard didn't deserve to be in her presence, much less did they deserve to be in her thoughts. Gently, he cupped her beautiful face in his hands, his emerald eyes boring deeply and lovingly into her own, before he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. Hephastus was addicted to the feel of them, so soft and pliant under his own. His tongue slipped from between his lips, gently caressing her lips, reveling in the taste that was purely hers. He didn't notice the spectators watching them with rapt attention.

Moving she leaned against the car as well as the girl backed away. "Really? You don't miss saving damsels in distress?" Laughing softly as she turned her head slightly to look at his face. "You two are to tall its why I am wearing heeled boots." The way the sun danced across his handsome chiseled face made her smile even more. The past several months were nice minus being almost killed but talking with Terrence and even meeting the older one has been fun. Lota knew she seemed distant but how can she tell someone like him that she was attracted to him but not just intimately but wanting to know everything about him. The celestial elf tuned out the boys that were looking her over from her legs upward. "Don't worry I feel safe." Arching a neat silver eyebrow. "I still find it hard to believe your single."

Seeing Terrence watching her made her heart leap with happiness. "It's what Katniss told me about the mark on her neck. She said by Hephastus's heritage they are considered married. I am respecting them as a married couple that they don't want to be harassed as if their single." Lota shrugged her slim shoulders and leaned closer to him whispering softly. "I may tell these boys that your my husband so I don't have to deal with being a witch with a capital B so they get the hint I am not interested." Eyes move up to his hair and giving a soft giggle she reached up a slinder hand and gently picked out small flower petals from the demon's hair. "Unless your planing on hooking up with someone." Lota secretly held her breath as she waited to see what Terrence said.

The mai smiled as the girl ran away and flipped over a bench. Gazing up at Hephastus not ever getting enough of him. Right now they are newly weds and always want to be near one another. But Katness knew no matter how long they been together she would always love him and only him. She only wants to wake up to his handsome face and fall asleep gazing at the same for all eternity. Shivering ad his breath swept over her skin. The safest place was in the strong arms that held her tight. Smiling up at him and wrapping slender arms around his neck. "When I can go home maybe we can dirty my school uniform." Jade green cat like eyes sparkled with mischief.

Her demon new just how to keep her calm and soon she relaxed once more against the firm body pressed into her own smaller frame. Hephastus's soothing voice like a sweet song to her ears and heart. "Your right she isn't worth trouble on the first day on campus." Feeling soft yet firm lips against her she parted her lips automatically welcoming his warm tongue and nectar that is the warmth of his mouth. As they shared a sweet kiss everything faded into the background.

He hadn't been expecting it, the boldness the usually distant female suddenly seemed to exude. Terrence didn't want to be in San Francisco. Yes, he missed his brother and he missed his sister, but he in no way missed saving women that didn't even try to help themselves. Damsels in distress were a pain in the neck; he preferred them to come with independence and an attitude that could be used against those that deserved it. And no matter how much he told himself Lota was off limits, he couldn't stop the feelings that were slowly but surely beginning to consume him. He knew, one kiss and he would know if she was meant for him, but they weren't the same species. Even if he knew that didn't mean she would, and he refused to put her in a position that would compromise her. His respect went too deep as it was.

"Not many will respect it. They know that by magical standards Kat and Heph are married, but I doubt that will stop them from attempting to pull them apart. People tend to be selfish like that. Besides, they're only unmarried by human laws," he reminded her, a small smirk making its way onto his lips as he watched her. It was becoming increasingly difficult to think of anything else but her. She was quickly eradicating everything else and making herself his prominent thought. It was no wonder that he hadn't thought about Tsubaki with her around. He knew, he'd always known, that Tsubaki wasn't meant to be his.

'But that didn't stop me from feeling the way I used to,' he thought, coming up short at his own thoughts. Terrence couldn't deny that Lota's presence was ten times more distracting than his co-worker's had ever been, but he was still unsure as to why. Even if he did have a good idea. He snapped to attention, heat coursing through his veins at the silver-haired female's close proximity. She was a whole lot more forward than he had ever expected her to be, but he was thoroughly amused either way.

"I rather like that idea. It'll keep them all away from you," he said, brushing his hands over her own hair, admiring the way the cherry blossoms looked within her celestial hair, "Anyway, if I did plan to hook up with anyone here it would have to be you. You're the only one I could see myself with in a long-term relationship." And with that, he pushed away from the side of the car and moved to the trunk. Hephastus had taken all of Katniss' luggage, so he would be carrying Lota's. Not that he minded in the least.

He was lost within her lips, intoxicated by the very being that was the siren pressed securely against his body. He could live a thousand years and never get tired of kissing her. She was an addiction, sweet and dangerous and utterly mind-blowing. Had someone told him a few years back that he would be completely and blindly devoted to a woman, willing to give her anything and everything to simply see her smile, he would have torn them to shreds and left them in pain for their insolence. But there was nowhere else he would rather be at that exact moment. His tongue swept along hers, caressing every crevice of the succulent morsel that was her mouth before pulling away after a chaste press of their lips.

"You're mine, e dashur, and I will let each and every single one of these unworthy plebeians know so," he growled, his eyes flashing an alluring crimson that spoke of the desire he was barely holding back with a thin thread. His mind was already conjuring images of his wife, their bedroom, and that gorgeous school uniform that fit her body just right. Hephastus was actually rather envious that all the students would see her in it, but he would be the only one taking her out of it. And all the things they could do! A sultry smirk made its way onto his lips, impish glee flashing in his emerald orbs.

'Oh yes, there are so many things we can do,' he thought, resting his hands on Katniss' hips, her soft body pressed firmly to his own. Were Hephastus a lesser man he would have shredded her clothes right then and there, but he was sane enough to know that he would end up killing everyone in the vicinity for having been witness to her delectable body. It was his pleasure alone to ever see her in all her gorgeous glory.

Lota stood there for a moment before smiling and tilting her head. "You seem to be elsewhere. What are you thinking in that handsome head of yours?" Once all the petals were gone she stepped back slightly. "It must feel wonderful to feel a love that strong." Deep sapphire blue eyes glance over at Hephastus and Katniss. "I hope I can find a love that treats me like his queen." Her face taking on a girly dreamy glow. "I know which is sad really." She responded to his reminder. "My culture is similar to demons I suppose. Lovers mark one another with their own symbol which join together and then their is a ceremony. I haven't chosen my lover yet since I am not sure on who. I don't want to make a mistake. My mother told me once that I would know if the man is right by the very first kiss. That I couldn't mistake the feeling." The celestial elf sighed shaking her head. "Have you been in love before?" Her eyes took in the amused smirk for awhile burning it into her memory.

As Terrence went to finish unloading the trunk she moved to the side of the car near the trunk. She watched him very carefully as she spoke her voice soft like slik. This time she wouldn't look away from him because she wanted to see his body language and facial expressions. Lota is slowly opening up to the older male letting him see all of who she is. Not to mention she wanted to know more about him. As the demon male spoke her heart stopped and sped up all at once which caused her to place a hand against it. 'Calm down heart he is probably humoring me.' The celestial elf told herself while gazing at Terrence.

"Stop it Terrence when you say such things it makes me want a fairytale kiss." Lota pushed out her lower lip in a pout. "You shouldn't tease me like that." She took a bag out of the trunk and playfully bumped against him laughing. "But I wasn't joking about saying I am married to you. Honestly I don't have any interest in boys my age though there are men who act like a teenage boy. I want to find my eternal love and be stupidly blissful like they are."

It didn't take long before she was lost completely engulfed in Hephastus losing all sense of surroundings. Katniss new that the demon had some control over his urges to take her there in front of others since he doesn't like any male to see her even dressed let alone nude. Slim fingers moved into his hair as their tongues danced and they tasted one another's nectar. The mai female didn't ever think that she would find love but then Hephastus was there and before she knew it she was hooked to him like a drug addict. Every touch he made gave her skin warmth and electricity.

By the way he held onto her hips she can picture wheels turning inside his mischievous head and it caused Katniss to smirk. The mai female pulled back slightly gasping for air but mainly to clam herself before she gave everyone a show they wouldn't forget. The demon male was hers and she refused to let any other woman see him exposed. "I should let you get back to carrying some of the luggage." Katniss purred as she ran her fingers through his silky hair. She planned on helping him carry some of the luggage. "As for how much I packed you can blame Ravy for shoe shopping." The mai female laughed softly.

Library - Destra

He did not envy all the first time students this year, being reminded of everyone ogling trying to figure out the inter workings of "Fresh Meat". Kids trying to determine if you were going to be cool enough to make associations with it was down right disgusting if he said so. Then again, he thought he was pretty popular and didn't have to worry much about trying to fit in. Or maybe it was the way he toward over the masses that first day because he forgot his special bracelet that made him roughly human sized instead of a giant? Destra made sure not to forget it this year, the metal band squeezed somewhat tight around a tapered wrist so that it posed no risk of slipping off in the middle of the night and a Zelran destroying school property because they couldn't fit into their dorm rooms. Now he only hoped that Zeus would remember his and not suffer the same mistake he did.

This year was a different case for Des. He no longer stood out in the wrong ways. Maybe he got a few glances here and there. Nothing abnormal, just people glancing other people as they passed by. So he made it pass the throng of spectators with relative ease and headed into the library to stock up on some books he thought could help him with his course load. As soon as he stepped inside he pulled of the black cap off his head and snapped it to one of the side belt loops of his dark jeans. It made it easier to be able to carry everything if he got enough books. He didn't want look like one of those noobs that tried to balance everything in one arm and always managed to spill it across the floor or ground.

About halfway through his mental list and a Led Zeppelin he'd been humming later, the unmistakable tumble of Books to the ground caught his attention. He might not have thought anything about it if it weren't for the snicker that came after it. A familiar little one that he's heard and be the subject of many times before. It made him curious as to what she could be up to before the school year began. Destra decided to forgo his list until another time, unceremoniously dumping them on the nearest desk on top of some other student's already growing pile. It earned him a murderous glare but he gave the girl his slickest smile before moving through the shelves in search of a familiar blonde head.

When he found Maliyah, she was brilliantly observing one of the male members of her crew pull himself out if the pile of Books scattered on the floor. How that came about, he was sure it was a prelude to what the lot were planning to do. 'There always seems to be something going on withthis group,' he smirked as he came up behind the petite blonde, too close for any normal acquaintance or friend to be, almost flush, and rested his chin a top her platinum locks. "Sooo stealthy," he mocked, cloudy green orbs sparkling with sarcasm. "Are you guys professional spies because I would hire you in a heartbeat? Just kidding. You're being loud. Louder than you think."

Teacher's Lounge - Sabrina

There were some people who thought she was crazy, people who didn't understand the pain associated because of the distance or the loneliness. These people thought she was idiotic for seemingly "following" Alexander like a little puppy but she couldn't stay in San Francisco while he moved himself so far away from her. Especially with the guilt he openly carried for her even when he thought his stoicism shielded her from reading him. Those people that doubted the intention of uprooting despite a Chaos brewing in the atmosphere were demons, like herself. They were her family. Romulus in particular calling her weak which didn't tide over with Alexander too well but Sabrina shot him down with a revelation of her own about his obsession to a woman he hadn't even mated too. Asking him why he'd kill her colleague out of jealousy then question the same fort of pain he felt when she kept him away.

Her sister, Envy, frowned disappointed that since the first time in years they found each other only for her to disappear. She didn't say as much but whatever the emotion Envy didn't say it was idiotic. It was later in a phone call that she disclosed that whenever Alexander was around her their auras seemed to meld together and it did look painful if they were apart so she hadn't said a thing about. But she did miss Sabrina terribly. She missed everyone too but she was happy here. She got to do something that didn't involve such crazy family drama and she was 90% wouldn't involve getting into some kind of war. The Teacher's position was a definite plus and it gave her something to do.

When she applied for the job, she didn't know if she would get it since she pointedly told Alexander that he was supposed to measure her based on her merits. She was suddenly glad of all the studying and school her mother put her through centuries before. Though it was known that Mister Matthews did not just hand out jobs and favors. She liked that about him amongst everything else. The thoughts of him pulled a smile to her lips as she tenderly skimmed over the mark, brushing away tendrils of rich dark brown hair that always managed to escape the elastic keeping it out of her face. She probably looked deranged sitting on the massive couch, dorky smile, surrounded by books and planners. Other Teacher's already thought that she looked too young to be in a staff position. They actually kicked her out the very first time she tried to go inside during her exploration. She had been mistaken for a student and promptly told that the area was off limits. It took everything short of mind control to get them to realize that she was new and in fact older than most of the teachers there by at least 50 years. Still she got the condescending looks for her general lack of "appropriate attire" meaning they didn't like teachers who wore jean shorts and a summer top while doing her planning in the Lounge. One woman even asked her if she cared what the students thought of her professional status or if they didn't take her seriously. She just said no and pulled the watermelon lollipop out if her pocket for added measure. Once the woman scurried off with horrified eyes, she popped the sucker in her mouth and resumed her work.

Caterina's Dorm Room

The porceline of the cup met wood bringing River out of his thoughts. “Thank you” he whispered letting her sit before he sat up to take said cup in his hand. Even before he brought the cup to his nose he could smell the milk it held. He could hear the rapid beating of her heart yet he didn't know what it meant. Now that his fear was gone River felt no prominent emotion other than the warmth that her presence fand voice filled him with. It was strange, she was still a perfect stranger and somehow he was perfectly calm. She was only a few feet away and her gaze no longer made him nervous.

How can this be possible? he wondered, closing his eyes to sip his milk, listening closely as she began to speak. Uncertainty a lilt in her musical voice and beyond that there were many other emotions, he could hear them with each syllable as he caught every single octave she made. “Why do you apologize?” He asked softly when she was finished, sitting his cup back on the wooden table. “You did nothing wrong” Steel blue eyes shifted, raking part of the room to meet her own. “If you think that's the reason I was scared… Your wrong”

He sighed laying back on the floor to fold his hands behind his head.
“I ran because I was afraid you wanted me punished for my sin. You watched me commit murder, even if it was to protect you I knew there was a chance that you may turn me in” He stared at the ceiling seeing something else entirely. “Thats why I ran, today and its also why I ran that night. I don’t understand it, to this very day, why you, a nameless stranger at the time, could cause such strong emotions in me.”

He remembered that night as clear as she sat on the couch, the night that he had stained that street red.
“You were so scared but you shouldn’t have had to be. Terror doesn't belong on your face.”

Zylan smiled as he listened to the girl speak. She was beautiful to gaze upon and her voice was just as Lovely. “It’s nice to meet you Kasper, my name is Zylen. I simply redirected the energy those thoughts consist of and shielded you from them. Its no big deal really” By the way she spoke it almost seemed like she was trying to be a bit flirtatious, however Zy wasn't too sure but either way it wasn't like it really bothered him. By now he was more than used to it and only smiled wider

“Your very kind but I wouldn't say I really saved you. I was just trying to help out.” his long black hair shifted in the passing wind as he caught sight of her dragon pendant. “I will gladly show you to your dorms. I've been here for a while so I've pretty much nailed the entire campus.” And he really had, he wasn't bluffing in the slightest. As leitenent of the shadow council he thought it was important that he know such things as these and he was really glad that he did.

With each passing minute the girl looked more and more sick and Zylen was beginning to get worried. At her request for water he nodded “I’d be happy to, do you have a water bottle?” glancing down he spotted one sticking out of her purse. Taking it he jogged to the water fountain and filled it as quick as possible before returning to her side. “Here you are” he said offering the bottle to her with an outstretched arm.

Rune got out of his car closing the driver side door before walking around and opening the passenger side door. "We are finally here Mari." He got out their luggage his hazel eyes glancing around. Yes for some strange reason his bond with Marisol is strong to the point his appearance has changed. But he doesn't care since the female with him seems to like it. The sun was slowly moving as time passed by. The sakura blossoms were blooming and budding. What he seemed to like more is so far no pestering spirits.

The necromaner male locked up his car as he waited for Marisol to join him. "How are you feeling?" Rune spoke nonchantly but she should know that is just his personality. Its not that he doesn't care its just how he comes off to some people. Holding out his hand for hers. The large marble buildings were quite amazing. He wore a white tee shirt paired with dark wash fitting jeans and a pair of tennis shoes. He wore a black fleece coat.

Mikael laid on a patch of lush green grass taking a nap in the warm sun. He wasn't to worried about people coming over and touching him since most of everyone new about his poison. The only trouble was the new students. The smell of the grass remined him slightly of lemon grass. The vishkanya could hear animals making sounds or running along. Students were gathering in their groups to talk. Some girls were talking about the blue of his eyes and how that is all they ever see. Sighing softly while laying on his stomach he wondered what new teachers they have this year. Ebony strands fell out form his hood and fell across his sleeping face. The scent of sakura blossoms reached his nose making it twitch.

The vishkanya wore a white long sleeve shirt with a light blue hood that matched his sleeves paired with black fitting leather pants and black combat boots. His hands covered by black gloves and lastly a black face mask that covered everything except for his aquamarine blue eyes. Mikael laid there listening to everything around him not letting anyone know how lonely he felt not being able to hang out with friends or be in a relationship. He simply stayed to himself until he got annoyed enough to say something. Most of the time people stayed clear of him.
