Humanity sustains life on Mars and finds Aether: 50 years into the future
Humanity ventures to Mars and accomplishes sustainable life there, along with many other technological advances. It also find traces of a black crystalline material that appears to hold a part of the Universe. Naming it Aether, humanity even further advances. Floating cars, molecule-sized cameras, flying maidbots, warp drives, and better weaponry are just a few names of these new advances.
Humanity finds the sword: 5 years after Aether
Exploring further into Mars, it finds a giant smooth white orb too small to be a moon. Even with their latest Aether tech, humanity is unable to move it to Earth for studies, but they are able to find out that inside this structure is a maze. At it's middle is a diamondlike sword locked in a shrine. This sword has the ability to communicate, but only through coded glpyhs. The first message warned them about a disaster soon to come while the second message presented more ways to use Aether: spellcasting. If used with Light, the energy the sword put out, Aether could allow the casting of spells.
Darkness attacks: 40 years after sword
It wasn't enough, however, to defend Earth from the disaster. Darkness, a race that thrived in the lack of Light (having technology as advanced as the sword had), shrouded the planet, killing all who lived there. The Darkness conquered every other solid rock, terraforming Venus and Earth's Moon to sustain it's own life. Due to the sword's presence, this race was not able to take over Mars, allowing humanity to survive.
Humans born with Light: 20 years after Darkness attacks
After the Darkness made it's show of force, it was the sword's turn. Putting out an immense amount of Light, the next generation of humans absorbed it, having the ability to use it's power without the need of Aether. They now had their own sources of magic and could use their powers no matter how far they were from the sword. To be more specific, each person was born with an elemental ability powered by their own Light. These comprised of Cryo (Ice), Solar (Fire), Arc (Lightning), Terra (Earth), Atmo (Air), and pure Light. This new generation was to be trained into soldiers to fight the Darkness and take back their home planet.
It could be a Futuristic/Fantasy roleplay. Of course, I'd need to do alot more planning for it to be good, but how do you like the plot?
