LA terrible tragedy befell the Universal Studios Hollywood set early this evening.
Lucille Joyโthe former queen of pinup turned model and major motion picture actressโwas found dead in her trailer by her manager at approximately four fifteen in the afternoon. Although the Los Angeles Police Department has yet to make an official statement about the crime, witnesses to the scene speculate that she was murdered.
โWe heard Joy's manager screaming at the top of his lungs,โ said a witness who wishes to remain anonymous. โA few of us went to calm him down and see what was going on, and her trailer was a mess. I mean, there was blood everywhereโthe walls, the ceiling, everywhere you looked.โ
When asked about Joy's recent mental health and substance abuse history, the witness elaborated: โNo. There was no way she could have done this to herself. Itโs not possible, from what I saw.โ
Joy recently celebrated two months of sobriety in a rehabilitation center in Malibu, California. She checked herself in voluntarily to avoid criminal charges after assaulting her landlord while under the influence of narcotics in July.
โ
This evening was the premier of Bombshell, a highly anticipated spy-drama film, starring Joy in her first ever main role. Many of Hollywoodโs biggest namesโother A list actors and models, athletes, and socialitesโwere walking the red carpet while Joy's managerial staff was dialing 9-1-1.
After Joy did not appear for her scheduled photographs with the Bombshell cast, the event was promptly cancelled. Universal Studios quickly erupted into panic and chaos as rumors of a gunman circulated and paparazzi and celebrities alike fled the scene.
โIt was absolute madness,โ another anonymous witness told our sources. โPeople running everywhere, screaming, police. We were all terrified, no one knew what was going on.โ
One of our sources spoke to an LAPD officer about the scene. โOur biggest concern at the moment is the integrity of the crime scene,โ he explained in an early partial statement. โWe worry that valuable evidence may have been compromised as people fled.โ He goes on to credit evidence technicians and other officers for their efforts in preserving what remains and speaking to potential witnesses.
โ
The legacy of Joy's life began to unfold during her life; her iconic hair, makeup, and fashion tastes inspired the style of a generation. Her tremendous personality and spirit is palpable in each photoshoot, and made her a captivating and memorable supporting role. Her firstโand lastโstarring role is highly anticipated by critics and heartbroken fans alike.
Joy leaves behind her beloved daughter, husband, both her parents, and dozens and dozens of friends.
The year is 1979. Welcome to the New Old Hollywood: grittier, modernized, equally timeless versions of the classic actors and plots of the 1940โs and 50โs. If youโre a fan of the movies, you couldnโt have picked a better decade to land.
The Academy Awards have celebrated a series of instant classic films in the last couple of years: The Godfather (and Part II two years later), The Exorcist, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Jaws, Rocky, Star Wars, and Apocalypse Now. Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Jane Fonda, Warren Beatty, Laurence Olivier, Cicely Tysonโtimeless talents just hitting their peaksโwere gracing the screen with award-winning performances year after year.
Lucille "Lucy" Joy had just started settling into this high class community of actors at the time of her death. Although she wasnโt a household name at this point in her career, she had just about the same notoriety and popularity as one: Joy made her early fortune as one of the nationโs most successful pinup models. After becoming a Playmate, and then a more conventional model, she was introduced into the cinema. Her screen presence was tremendous and compelling right away, quickly earning her two Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Bombshell, an upcoming spy-drama film, was to be her first starring role.
Joy was, obviously, a popular, polarizing and controversial figure in Hollywood. Her personaโrelentlessly progressive, independent, and strong-willedโcombined with her extensive career in adult media made her an early sex symbol. Joy's presence in star-studded movie lineups inspired public discourse, both positive and negative, on feminism and sexuality. Her mental health, which has progressively (and at times, dramatically) declined over the course of her career, and substance abuse further complicate her perception.
The manner of Lucille Joy's death was quickly confirmed to be homicide, but the cause of her death remains to be determined. The seemingly perfect storm of her rise to fame, background and connections, mental health, and substance abuse opens a universe of possibilities to explore: crazy fans, ex and current lovers, drug dealers and enablers, other actor, model, and celebrity friends, political and industry connectionsโฆ
All of which attended the Bombshell premiere the night of Joy's murder. This complicated, tense, political social network involves quite a bit of immoral, if not illegal, activity. And when everyone seems more than a little bit guilty? Well, itโs every man for himself.

adam
open
They cannot stand up for themselves or their morals to the point that people speculate if they had any to begin with. Spineless, meek, and compliant, theyโre someone who can look past dirtier work and somehow manage to sleep at night. Extremely close with Eve, but their relationship is tumultuous.
eve
open
Unable to experience life alone, they exhibit a toxic kind of codependency. Even though they are gullible and desperate to please, their impulsiveness and selfishness often takes people down with them. Better to fall together than alone. Extremely close to Adam, but their relationship is notoriously complicated.
lust
open
Characterized by a desire so powerful it literally chokes the life out of others. Although lust is, by definition, associated with sex, this insatiable desire can apply to a variety of things: controlling people, items, connections, and money, to name some. They run in the same circle as Envy and Greed; they have all been collaborators for years.
gluttony
open
Over-overindulgence. They try to fill their inner vast emptiness with something, anything to keep face: the finest foods and drinks, cars, boats, houses, art. Driven by the need to possess, they take without regard to who theyโre taking from. Even though their best friend is Wrath, this relationship is very hot and cold.
sloth
open
The depravity of their character is somewhat understated, even though they are arguably one of the most powerful of the seven. Evil exists because they deliberately choose not to act, and they stand in the way of those seeking to do good. Guilty by association and inaction. They have a long, complicated history with Pride.
wrath
closed
Forgive but never forget. They hold steadfast to their grudges and the need to hurt others how they were hurt in an attempt to sate their appetite for revenge, whether just or imagined. They leave behind a path of destruction wherever they go. A slave to themself. Although they claim their best friend is Gluttony, their relationship is extremely toxic and inconsistent.
envy
closed
This individual is severely deluded by their own entitlement and narcissism, and is consequently dangerous. Convinced the world owes them its very best, they will stop at nothing to possess whatever it is they want. They are notorious for frequently collaborating with the talents of Lust and Greed: this power trio is a dangerous one.
pride
open
Incapable of doing wrong, they are the master of compartmentalizing. Even though they must cheat, steal, lie, and deceive others, they maintain an infallible front. The mere idea of them harboring secrets is impossible. They will never be caught red-handed. They have a long and complicated history with Sloth.
greed
open
A different kind of lethal ambition, this particular individual is motivated by insecurity. The walls they build to secure a fragile, insecure persona are made of highly visible markers of wealth, status, and importance. Emotional and volatile when confronted. They collaborate frequently with Lust and Envy, making a tight-knit and toxic power trio.

one.
We require that you be at least eighteen years old. This roleplay is intended to become an intense, dark murder mystery with adult themes and subtopics, and we are not comfortable fully realizing this vision with minors. Thank you for understanding.
two.
We will be writing at a "lazy literate" level: well-written, multi-paragraph, 300-500+ word replies focusing on actions and responses, without as much emphasis on using internal dialogue as filler. Thousands of words are a pain to read and write.
three.
While we recognize the need for writing to respond to in order to maintain momentum in group roleplays, we are all adults with lives (university, jobs, family obligations, etc.). A reply from every member every week would be amazing, but we will require one response per week.
four.
That being said, we would like to foster a lively and enjoyable out-of-character environment even if the pressure to produce formal in-character replies is relatively relaxed. We will be using the platform, Discord, to host a server for accepted to interact and plot.
five.
Lastly, we want to state firmly that this roleplay is not for those not committed to fostering a safe, anti-racist space. The world is a diverse place and has no room for inequity. You can die mad about it if you disagree, and kindly leave us alone.
