Other Danganronpa 2

So my brother gave me his copy of Danganronpa 2, which seems pretty interesting. I've not played the first one, but it looks like you don't need much of the first story line to get it?

Nope the story lines are pretty separate. Characters from the first game show up at the end but you don't need it to understand the storyline of the second.

If you want to understand some minor things, you should play the first one too though.
