dangerous title card 2.0.png

The Yutani-Kandel Corporate Monocity, Southwest of Vladivostok, Russia. The clock has just ticked over to the year 2050, and what's left of the world is trying build itself back up after years of consumption following the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus led to vast socio-economic collapse and a period of martial law.
The United Nations has had to rely on several megacorporations to survive. This has given them a veritable carte blanche to operate as they will, tearing apart once stable societies and small local governments. The Yutani-Kandel Biotechnology Firm has taken hold of most of the Asian continent, plastering their name on anything and everything, entire countries are now borderless and chaotic without so much as a hope outside of the daily meal for employees. More than 20 Million people clutter the streets of the YK Monocity in southern Russia most of them working for the golden giant, cornered into compliance, or to choose death. Recent shortages of food and water, even among the employed, have forced sections of the population to face the Sea-Wastes in search of a better place to live, or risk the famine of the home they once knew.

The game is simple, survive, with much attention being paid to cybernetic modification, black market trade, and street warfare. Under the boot of the monolithic YK industrial complex, the city is your home, enemy, and ally. You, the players, can adopt a diverse collection of character archetypes, ranging from hardwired mercenaries with psycholinked weapons and boosted reflexes, to Armani-wearing street moguls who make and break lives with the stroke of a pen. Any persona existing in this strange and broken environment can be yours to command. Your job is to survive, either barely, by the straps of your boots, or large, and by means only dreamt of by lesser people.

Great concept! And very well written premise :D It definitely should be getting more exposure than this :3

I'd love to join but right now I'm not quite in a position to commit to an RP. Nevertheless, Just thought I'd put this out.!

Is there a specific plot, or is it more of a sandbox RP with some plot points here and there? Guessing the latter, but is there a place where all of the characters are to meet and interact (a market, a recreational zone, working together, in hiding, scavenging?) to start off and get the ball rolling?
It's a cool and detailed concept (I'm a sucker for worldbuilding) and I've looked at the threads a few times, but I've always had no idea where to start and VERY little knowledge of Russian culture... so I'm finally asking my stupid questions instead of just waiting for someone else to post questions or a character :v

So, I have a basic "storyline" or so planned out. basically a set of events that players react to in their own way, but all spurred by the same impetus, all as a means of moving the characters through a series of plot points, while not literally telling them what to do yknow?

ofc all of it can and probably will be changed up as this progresses, but thats the gist.

Blemmigan Blemmigan

additionally, the regard for russian culture is admirable, but not 100% necessary. In this timeline, large swathes of civilization have basically been forced into these monocity melting pots, essentially singular corporate giants that have consumed so much of the planet that the only hospitable places are where they allow cities to crop up, usu. around their factory/corporate centers.

also i missed the point about a starting place, and yes. if you take a look at the IC page i have linked, i've actually already written up a starting gun to give characters a common goal, and if they need any more pushing that can be done as well, but i really do like to give players as much freedom as possible to create the story around them.

This sounds right up my alley! If I understand correctly, I post my character sheet in the other thread, not this one?

in the OOC. not the character page.

that way i can make sure everythings gucci, things can be discussed if needed, and the character page can be nice and organized.

Ooh, I'd love to join this. Have a cookie.

I'll try to start filling out a character sheet or two, though it might take me a bit. I hope you don't mind be posting a few questions in the OOC.

Definitely interested!
I love the premise and have at least one char idea
A few questions- are the bounty hunters able to have any other jobs, or is their loyalty to Decade and Decade only?
- Would there be enough working vehicles and fuel to warrant mechanics, or would there be enough trade in upgrading and maintaining people and their cybertech for mechanics to make a living?
- Are vehicles petrol run, or on bio-fuel, or some kind of solar energy?
- Would there be anything like illegal street racing/fighting for criminals with money to bet on and people desperate for money and with no regard for their personal safety to compete in?
- Is there a common language spoken in YK or is it a mix of languages? (really just an aesthetics question more than anything else)

LMAO, the inclusion of Alex Jones is a huge immersion breaker. Really thought it was a meme shitpost. Sort of funny though

For the sake of roleplay, english will be the primary language spoken, however canonically, russian, english, korean, and japanese are the primary spoken languages. additionally, a few other south asian and slavic languages can be heard.

illegal activities are plenty within the darker streets of YKM.

Whats a veehickle?
fr tho, unless you're VERY Rich biodiesel cars are going to be hard to come by. most transport is on foot nowadays, some private individuals with means may have small battery scooters, but replacements are hard to find.

that said, mechanics are in high demand. not necessarily for vehicles, but for heavy machinery as well as cybernetics.

Bounty hunters may work independently. consider it a bit like a mafia, they tend to get what big hunting that needs done, done. but i would bet that plenty of small bounties go under their radar.

Well, I wouldn't want rudely do anything that nobody else wants me to do.

That said, it would be funny. I would like to at least play an Alex Jones type. Alex Jones himself would be great though.

it seems the inclusion of alex jones is a bit immersion breaking, were you being serious about playing him lol?
