Isabella sat on the rocks leading into the water, wiggling her bare toes in the clear depths. The water over in this area came directly off the beach, although this area was more rocky than sandy. It was their place, though, always had been ever since its discovery. They came out here by themselves or together, and whether they were happy, sad, angry... this place always seemed to have a way of making things better.

She hadn't been out here in months, though. It was bittersweet, coming out here and remembering all the good times when the group had been broken up for so long. They were all in their twenties now, and life had taken them in different directions. Being the person who always tried to keep everyone together, it broke Bella's heart to watch everyone drift apart.

Over the years, she'd really only kept in close contact with Kaia. She knew all about the girl's swimming competitions and whatnot, and had even been to visit her a few times. Everyone else had slipped out of her grasp, much to her dismay. But as of recently, Bella had called them all, blowing up their phones until they answered her. Things were different, now. Something had changed, and it had something to do with the stones they'd all collected as children.

They needed to come together and regroup. Figure out how they were going to deal with this. And maybe... maybe she was using it as an excuse to see her friends again. Bella missed them all dearly, and seeing them all here, now-- even though it was over a decade later-- would be amazing. A small smile played at her lips as she reached out, twirling a leaf in the water.

Even though she'd told her friends to meet her here around ten, she'd been out here for over an hour. She needed time to gather her senses, think about what she was going to say. She always overthought. Brushing a strand of hair out of her eyes, she rested her chin on her knees, singing a song softly to herself while she waited.

Kaita had already been in the outskirts of Golden Acres when she received the phone call from the first person she wanted to surprise. Isabella Winters, her best friend. She seemed a bit off, nervous really, as she rarely called but more like texted so she was a bit taken aback by such an action. Had something happened?

The blonde had instructed her to meet up in the usual place she remembered to be an old hang out of her first ever and only group. However, if that place was suggested, she doubted that Kaia was the only one that Izzy contacted. That being said she had to answer her best friend's summon. She cannot imagine the look of the blonde's face when she surprises her. Izzy did not even know that Kaia was in town in the first place. So, she went to her old house, the house she grew up in and set her luggage behind the door before zooming out into a jog towards the small woods surrounding Golden Acres. Her hands in an absent minded manner went to her shorts' pocket where she felt the bulked shape of her precious aquamarine which she carried with her at all times.

She was anxious to finally see her in flesh and blood. She was mostly worried at that phone call but nonetheless ecstatic to surprise her. The female slowly swayed any branches and willow tree vines that might have gotten in the way as she threaded through. She could already sense water nearby. The lake was nearby. Taking one fast cautious step at a time the female threaded through, reaching her destination. There she saw, a slightly taller figure than she last remembered. A blonde waiting patiently with her feet soaked in the water.

The brunette shifted from behind and sat on a rock not far from her, "Hey there stranger. Isn't it a bit dangerous for a pretty girl like you to be alone in the woods?" Kaia giggled at her best friend before sitting up and running to grasp her best friend into a tight, never letting go type of hug. She missed her. She missed Golden Acres. She truly missed home.

Remi hadn't thought much of her stone as of late. She'd not has a reason to use healing powers, so hadn't come to realize them just yet. But still, something compelled her to carry it about with her. Something about the smooth texture of the quartz, worn down from a decade of worrying the surface with her fingertips, brought the girl comfort. Tromping her way through the forest now, a Monster energy drink in hand, Remi yawned to herself. This had better be good to drag her out here at ten in the morning, when she pulled a seven pm to three am shift the night prior. She knew she'd regret giving into Bella's pestering later today when she had another seven to three shift. Remi never truly left Golden Acres, anyways. She never had the money to do more than move to the shitty side of town back when she was eighteen.

Worrying her quartz in her pocket, Remi went over the possibilities of being called out like this. Perhaps it had something to do with that weird storm that passed through not too long ago? Perhaps they simply wanted to yell at each other again. Sighing, Remi took another drink from her Monster. Finally, she broke from the tree line onto the lake shore. Kaia and Bella were already here, and already embracing. If Remi had been younger, she would have joined them. Now, however, she simply gave the two girls a look of disdain, one eyebrow raised as if to question them. Her free hand rested on her hip. "Well, I'm here. What did you want, Bella?" To be honest, Remi would have been a lot nicer if she weren't operating on less than four hours of sleep. She considered it a miracle she hadn't passed out already.

The roar of the engine cut through the otherwise quiet little town. Golden Acres was not the place you would expect to see a Bugatti rolling around in. Heads were turning on every street but the driver just ignored it. Hector let out a long sigh, glad for his tinted windows. He hadn't been back to his hometown since he'd left for college. Coming back now was like a blast from the past. He'd grown so used to the city life that everything here seemed so slow. When Hector had first gotten the car he'd read people's minds as they stared at his car to boost his own ego. Now he really didn't care for it.

"How do I get to this place again...?" The poker player asked to no one in particular. It'd been so long since he'd been to their hidden lake that he hardly remembered how to get there. To add to the confusion he hadn't had a car last time he came so he didn't need to find a place to park. He looked through his phone at a red light, going through the texts Bella had sent him. Something seemed to be bothering her but she hadn't been too specific. She just asked Hector, and presumably everyone else, to come back. Hector finally said screw it and parked his car in the parking lot of some little mom and pop shop that seemed to be closed. If someone came by and towed his car then so be it.

His clothes made him stick out even more but that was just what he wore lately. Of course he hadn't dressed for moving through trees and crap to get to their spot. As he walked through the woods to the secluded lake his mind drifted to the others. Would they be mad he hadn't reached out to them? Part of him was excited and part of him was scared this whole thing was a mistake. He was the first one to stop showing up but surely they all did if Bella had to summon everyone like this. Would they even get along anymore? What if they had powers? The thought drove Hector to a stop. He hadn't even thought of it before now. Could they all read minds? He shrugged and continued, not really sure if he was heading the right way or not.

The sound of voices eventually began to reach him and Hector let out a sigh of relief. He was beginning to think he'd gotten lost in this stupid place. "Well I'm here. What did you want, Bella?" Not a voice he recognized but he supposed he wasn't hardly going to recognize much of anything anymore. The doubt vanished when he saw who'd said the words. That hair could only be one person. A smile found it's way to hectors lips and he stepped out from behind the girl. "Remi! That's no way to talk to your good friends, is it?" He let his mind hone in on hers and wasn't surprised to find she absolutely did not want to be here. You didn't need to be a mind reader to tell that though. It was written all over her body language.

Hector turned his attention to the other two girls that were hugging. "Bella, Kaia! So good to see you." The mind reader did the same thing and honed in on the other two girls thoughts. He didn't learn anything significant other than the fact that Kaia had left home and was glad to be back. Good. There was at least one person that hadn't stuck around. Hector turned back to Remi and grinned. "Bring it in. You're not too tired to hug an old friend, right? You look exhausted." It was true, she did look exhausted, but she was also thinking about how tired she was. He stepped towards the girl that he had given the nickname to with his arms open.

Logan Francis Reynolds

1530137883328.pngLogan woke up early that morning, but rather than sleeping in his own apartment he'd crashed in his private room at the hotel. There'd been a cocktail party at the hotel the previous evening and when he'd finally decided to stop managing his staff for the night, he ended up getting drunk with some of the guests instead. One of the many perks to owning the hotel was that he could sleep there whenever he felt like it and in a room he always kept booked out for himself.

Logan was up bright and early, hoping to do a quick walk around the hotel before heading to the private lake he hadn't visited since he was a kid. He would be seeing people he hadn't seen for many years and he wasn't even sure if they could still be considered friends. He'd changed a lot since he'd last seen any of them, so didn't doubt they would be different too. He was snapped out of his thoughts as he saw a member of his housekeeping team trying to sneak past him and hide the fact they were late, yet again. "Henry..." he began, intercepting the younger man. As expected, Henry began to protest and give an excuse for his tardiness. This was the third time in one month and when he did show up, the work was not up to Logan's strict standards. He was done with giving chances now. "Save the excuses. We've had this conversation too many times and I won't have you taking advantage. You're fired. Go home and sleep in for as long as your heart desires. It's not my concern any longer." Once his conversation with Henry had ended, Logan made his way to the reception desk and pulled aside the day shift team leader, informing her of the new job vacancy. His father had warned him years ago that firing people would be a difficult thing to do. Perhaps it had been at first, but not anymore. Firing incompetent staff was surprisingly easy and certainly satisfying. Logan simply didn't have time for disorder and glaring imperfections in his hotel.

****************

Logan lived and worked in the city closest to Golden Acres, so it was a short journey and one he knew all two well, even if he rarely stopped in his childhood hometown. He remembered where the lake was, never forgetting despite having thought he'd put his childhood behind him. He parked his sports car up in the main part of town, intending to walk the rest of the way. He wondered if his old friends would recognise or even remember him. He was far more confident, assertive and stylish now than when the others had known him. He wondered if they were still expecting some overweight guy with low confidence to show up. If they knew of the strange things he'd been experiencing in himself lately, he expected they would think he was merely casting an illusion for them now. But they couldn't know about that. Magic powers? They'd surely think he'd gone crazy over the years.

Logan slowed his walking when he reached the lake. He saw three women and a man already there. Obviously one must have been Bella. She'd been calling him and he'd given her abrupt replies, telling her he wasn't interested in meeting up. Curiosity eventually caught up with him, especially since the amethyst stone he'd found at the lake all of those years ago had shown itself one night. The gemstone and the calls from Bella all seemed to be more than just coincidence, so he had to investigate. As he tried to recall who each of those present was, his eyes fell upon Kaia - the girl he'd had a crush on as a kid but never plucked up the courage to tell her. Like him, she too had lost weight as she'd grown up, yet he still recognised her. Perhaps it was those eyes that had never changed since he'd caught and then stopped himself from gazing into many years ago. That was in the past and he was a grown man now, so there wasn't room for such shyness. Yet, as he stepped closer to the group, that assertive and cold confidence of his seemed to drain away, leaving him as an awkward version of himself he thought he'd outgrown years ago. His eyes rested on Kaia's face a little longer than intended, but he cleared his throat and stopped once he was close enough to the others. "Hi..." he quietly began. He suddenly felt like he'd left his personality back in the car. "It's Logan... The chubby weird one...." he awkwardly joked.

Remi didn't want to let her front fall. She didn't want to melt back into her old persona. She didn't want to become complacent like she had been all those years again. But seeing Hector, and how well he'd been cleaned up, his smiling face and kind words... Remi's old crush resurfaced itself, and she couldn't help herself. Of course she had a soft spot for Hector. He had given her a new name and a chance to be someone other than a scared little girl cowering from her own shadow. For that, she thought really highly of him. A crush was only natural. With a good-natured roll of her eyes and a spreading of her arms, she accepted the hug, despite herself. "I'm running on four hours of sleep, dude. I'm too tired for formalities." Perhaps she'd call tonight off...? Ah, but that would make food scarce so she could pay for rent this month. But she didn't want to be tired all the time around her old friends... damn this overnight work.

It was around seven A.M. when Malcolm finally had awoken. He turned over onto his back, staring up at the ceiling for what seemed like forever, but in reality was no more than twenty minutes. It came to him suddenly that he actually had plans that day, which annoyed him slightly. It had only been a short while ago that a childhood friend, Belle, had texted him about a get together she seemed to be trying to string together. He had been in the moving process already when receiving this text, so out of convenience, he figured it wouldn't hurt to show his face. Still, there was a hint of hesitation in showing up there. It had been years since they had all seen each other, and that period of his life was one didn't wish to recall. To see them might bring back memories of a childhood he had no interest in mingling with. Still, he was the one that had made the effort of coming back home. He had already begun mingling with this childhood he despised, what more could a meet up do?

He hadn't been in town for any longer than a couple days and wasn't going out of his way to let this be known. Of course, he had made minor store runs, but had spent the majority of his time setting up his new place, making it suitable to continue his work. Going to meet Belle was the first time he would be out and actually socializing. It was in his nature to assume things would be painfully awkward, or perhaps break out into the group pointing fingers. With that popping into his mind, he was definitely hesitant. He swung his legs out of his bed, an audible sight escaping his lungs. His head naturally fell into his hands, his eyes still peaking through the crevices between his fingers. His gaze fell onto the stone that he had retrieved from the forest all of those years ago. A small smile formed on his face, his hands lowering simultaneously. He would go.

The hours had passed like minutes and before he knew it he was headed to the spot. He had been taking his time, his outfit was a simple one he threw on under the assumption they wouldn't be doing much. Before leaving though, he eyed his stone once again, this time more intently. He quickly swiped up the stone and head on his way to the spot which luckily wasn't far from what he remembered. He was shocked that he had remembered the path there so well in the first place though it would make sense since he had taken so often. The gem slid through his fingers with ease as he made his way through the brush, which proved to be much more of a chore at his current height. He grinned to himself when thinking of this, " 'Spose the world is much harder to navigate these days... "

Voices could be heard not too far up ahead. Older, matured voices from the sound of it. It had never occurred to him that his childhood friends had to have grown up just as he had. He hadn't given that idea much thought truth be told, but it gave him a sense of security. If they had grown as he did, perhaps he wouldn't have to be reminded, after all, that is what he hoped for anyway. He pushed aside the remainder of the vegetation with one big swoop of his arm to see his friends. It seemed everyone had arrived before him which was embarrassing since he wasn't too far off. This was not out of character for him, however. He scanned the faces of everyone around, and let off a small smile. With one big wave, he greeted everyone before him.

"Hello all, long time no see hm?"

Erik sighed.
It wasn't that he hated his hometown or anything. That's wasn't true in the slightest, actually. He actually had a fondness for it, but that wasn't the point. The point was there was a million other more productive things he could have been doing at that moment, like making some damn money, but instead he was obeying the text message he had received from Bella and returning to their "secret spot". It was curiousity that had eaten at him and made him come. His initial response was to deny, he was far too busy, but he had changed his mind. What could she want, anyways, after so long? They were all connected to each other in some way or another, and if she wanted to have a little reunion she could have just called it that.

Although, deep down he knew that wasn't the reason. Of course he did. It was all about their little gems. He tried not to think about them much. He had a power that he had never had before. But he didn't talk about it - or think about it much. As cool as it was, it scared him. He didn't know what it meant. He had tried not to use it, but sometimes it would just happen, on accident. Like he would think about grabbing the remote and it would jump to him. Things like that.

He wondered if the others had gotten a power too, or if something else had happened to them. Or maybe nothing had happened and he was still overthinking this whole thing.

He pulled up to their spot at the lake, noticing several other cars there. Well, he wasn't late but apparently, he wasn't early either. He got out of the car slowly, savoring the moments before he had to join the others. He was excited to see them, but in the nervous kind of way. Like he couldn't wait to see them but also was it going to be awkward/would everyone be different/ would they low key hate each other? Taking a deep breath, he found the others by the water. "Hey, all!" he announced himself as he joined them. "I made it," he added, cracking a boyish grin.

Hector couldn't keep his grin from growing as the girl made a lame attempt at looking like she wasn't happy to see him. It was cute. He could easily read Remi even before he could actually read minds. He hugged the girl tightly, picking her up a bit from the ground and shaking her playfully. "You haven't changed a bit. Maybe a little taller." He teased his old friend playfully and ruffled her hair like he had all those years ago. It was good to know if no one else cared to talk to him he still had one friend here. Before he knew what was happening Hector had to fight to keep the frown from his face. To him reading minds was as natural as breathing and usually whoever had his attention was also getting their mind read. He didn't usually think twice about it but reading the mind of an old friend seemed like a betrayal of trust.

The poker player hadn't known that Remi had it so hard. If he'd known he would have come see her, offered to get her out of all of this. They were friends then and they always would be as far as he was concerned. He thought to say something to her but just then an unfamiliar face appeared from the brush. The guy introduced himself as Logan and Hector did not try to hide the surprise from his face. "Well look who found the gym!" He teased his old friend and let his arm slide from around Remi's shoulders which he had left there after hugging her. Logan had always been pretty shy and it seemed like he still was even with the new look. Some things never changed Hector guessed with a grin.

It wasn't long until the other two males of the group arrived. It wasn't hard to tell the difference between the two. The entire group had grown up but it seemed like they were all pretty much the same. Hector was getting excited. Maybe this wasn't going to be as bad an experience as he had previously though. He said his greetings to the other two guys and turned his attention back to Remi. "Well I don't know what you have planned tonight." A lie, of course. He knew she had work but until everyone else revealed if they had power or not he most definitely wasn't going to. "But cancel it. I'm taking you out for dinner. Wherever you wanna go." He gave the girl a small wink and ruffled her hair once more for good measure. It felt good to mess around with Remi again. The two had always been closer to each other than the rest.

"And anyone else that wants to come." He turned back to the group and smiled. "My treat." He looked at each of them for a brief moment and noticed that one was still missing. "After whatever it is you had planned Bella. Of course."

Nora stood behind the register waiting for a customer to walk up to her. Currently the person was taking forever to decide between Twix or Reeses cup. The day was sluggishly going by but she could always tell the time by Bella's texts or calls. She was ignoring them all. It wasn't because she was at work and wasn't allowed on the phone. It was because Belle was part of the past and Nora wanted nothing to do with the past. It was time to change her number.

At 12, it was time for her to clock out. It was a short shift today. She couldn't wait to get out of her uniform. Traffic sucked but she finally made it home in one piece. Before she could even get into the house her father was calling her. She knew what it was about. You hardly see your mother. One or two visits here and there isn't working. Maybe if she heard your voice she'd start to fight. Yeah, the woman would probably come out of a sleep induced coma just to fight Nora.

After changing into leggings and a t-shirt, Nora jumped into bed. Nothing better than taking a nap after work.

Isabella heard the familiar voice of Kaia before she saw her or heard her approach. Twisting on her spot by the water, her face broke out into a grin as she recognized the swimmer. "Kaia!" She called out, breaking into a run to hug her friend at the same time she did. Having her here was an incredible feeling, that was only made more incredible when Remi and Hector arrived. Releasing Kaia and stepping back, she couldn't help but notice how different they both looked. Yet there were similarities to their childhood selves that Bella could see.

"It's so good to see you both. I want everyone here before I-" She cut herself off as Logan emerged, and nearly clapped her hands together. "Logan!" She ran to him and hugged him, then moved backwards to Hector, and even Remi though she did hesitate slightly before embracing her. She could feel the negative emotions coming off of Remi, and though she didn't mean to, she probably pulled some of them into herself.

She froze, dropping her arms from Remi, averting her gaze. That wasn't like Bella. But before anything could happen or be said, Malcolm arrived, followed shortly by Erik. She hugged them both, lingering for a few extra seconds on Malcolm. Back when they were younger, she'd never admitted to anyone-- herself included-- how she felt about him. And now that they were adults, and here, it wasn't the time. Pulling away, she took a few steps back, her gaze moving towards the trees.

She hoped Nora would come. But the girl had been ignoring Bella's calls and texts. She was the only one who Bella hadn't been able to get a hold of. With a soft sigh, minutes passed and it became apparent the girl wasn't going to show. "Well, I guess we can... we can talk now." She muttered, glancing towards everyone else. "Hope I didn't pull y'all away from anything." Offering a small, apologetic smile, she moved back to her spot on the rocks, standing with her feet in the water.

"Have any of y'all noticed anything... weird, about yourselves lately?"

Mood Worried yet Ecstatic | Outfit KAIA
Converses Isabella ( apolla apolla ) | Hector ( Lurker Lurker ) - Addresses Whole Group ( Misty Gray Misty Gray | JustAlexandra JustAlexandra | Noivian Noivian )

Kaia's mood in one word was excited, not to mention nostalgic. She was ecstatic to see all her peers together in one spot. Their spot. "By the stars, I have missed you so so much! I was already in town when I received your barrage of calls." she said, breaking their hug and holding her at arms length. The second that Izzy motioned away to greet the others, the brunette noticed familiar yet unfamiliar faces that started making their way towards the location that was planned. Her hunch was certainly right. Izzy did contact each and every individual from their childhood clique, which were popping up one by one.

Kaia was counting as her friends approached one by one but she only could add up to seven, including her. Someone was left.

She was not much of a hugger, especially since she hadn't seen the other in so long, excluding Isabella. Therefore she took Isabella's place by removing her sandal and sat down at the edge, letting the cool water brush and coat her lower legs while silently observing and eventually sate her curiosity as to what got Isabella so anxious and what was so important that she got all of them from the blast of the past. Her eyes fell on the grouchy female. That was some attitude right there. It was Remi alright, it's glad to see some things never changed. Then her glance fell upon the new-coming male, none other then Hector. Still as charismatic as ever. As she glanced upon the next person that popped up, she had to take a double glance. She did not recognize the tall, blonde handsome male. Who was he? Wait could it be? Kaia then caught up as she noticed the shifting, shy and nervous attitude and she remembered exactly who he was, especially after he introduced himself, the way he introduced herself. The brunette looked away and down at the rippled water caused by the oscillation of her feet movement. Logan... looks like it wasn't only her that lost a lot of pounds. She remembered how both bullied they were because of their chubbiness. It was hell. Besides the fact she had two gay dads did not aid the situation any less.

My how he changed. However, Kaia tried to hide her blushing cheeks by remaining looking at the water which she didn't realize that the two remaining males, Erik and Malcolm had joined the party as well. They were almost full house... who was left? Oh yeah right. Nora? Yes, Nora. At this point it was highly unlikely that she would show.

It just hit her how much she missed her group. Now that she was seeing them in flesh and blood. Right in front of her. Her international swimming marathons took most of her time as did their own agendas to themselves. Reasonable after all, they were grown up and each with their own responsibilities. As Hector made his offer about dinner, the swimmer looked over and grinned, "Hey, it's only fair you take us all! I mean it would extend this reunion further more which would be super nice. Especially if it's a treat! Plus ... food." Anyone who knew Kaia long enough, despite her training and fitness nowadays, food was and still is her safe haven. Especially free food.

Right after, Isabella proceeded and frowned when she asked that question. "Well, my swimming marathons are long over this seasons so nothing really special was happening! In fact as I stated I was already in town!" the female answered before Izzy had a follow up question. One that caught her interest. Was this what it's all about?

She frowned lightly before getting the group's attention, especially Isabella, "Define weird Izzy. Do you mean this weird?" Kaia hovered a hand at random over the water near her legs and raised it faintly upwards. With that queue a thin column of water sprung upward but didn't last long as it cascaded down into a splash to it's natural state, leaving Kaia a bit blank. "Yeah... the answer is sort of. I discovered while I was training and I almost drowned myself as I was enclosing myself with water as I was back stroking." the female continued as she slowly stood up and dusted her shorts from the grass and letting her feet dry with the grass to put her sandals on, joining the group formation.

Malcolm's feelings of confliction had been swept away once he had seen his group of friends mingling and interacting with one another all around him. He couldn't even remember the last time they had all come together and be happy about it, which was nice. He caught sight of how everyone had grown and recognized almost everyone except for Logan, who seemed to have mad a drastic change of his physical appearance. Kaia too had slimmed down quite a bit from how she had looked when they were younger. Everyone else, Hector, Remi, Erik, and Bella had all grown into themselves more. They sported more matured figures and faces to match, which made him a bit relieved. It seemed everyone had made a change for the better in themselves.

Bella had run up and hugged him and Erik as they approached the scene, which also helped to calm his nerves quite a bit given their background. From what he could recall, Bella had always done her best to look out for him when he was feeling down about his mother. When he felt he had nowhere else to turn she was there for him, as she had tried to be for them all. When he turned himself away from the group all those years ago he hadn't cared much for how it made anyone else feel. He acted off of his own interests, feeling like the only person that could really help him was himself. It wasn't until he had gotten older and been at school that he reflected on his actions and beat himself up for it. Maybe he shouldn't split without saying anything? Maybe he shouldn't have been selfish and left in the first place. He never really knew what he should have done.

He brought himself out of these thoughts to focus on the present. There hadn't seemed to be any bad blood between anyone there. The only one that gave off something close to a bad vibe was Remi, which he couldn't figure out. Hector was by her side of course, which was how he always remembered them, accounting for one another. It was funny how everyone had fallen back into their roles when they had spent so many years apart. He couldn't complain though, it was better than the awkward silence he had feared.

Finally, Bella had addressed the group. He thought for a moment. Something weird? He spoke up, "Only thing weird about me currently is that I actually decided to come back." he said, following with a soft chuckle. Kaia had spoken up though, displaying what seemed to be water manipulation. Malcolm caught on quickly, thinking to himself, "She meant that kind of weird.." Without much of a thought, Malcolm held his hands out before him, palms upward. Then, a smoky haze began to rise from his palms which he stopped quickly, only wanting to showcase what he could do. He nodded to Kaia, "It happened as an accident for me as well. I thought I was crazy." His eyes scanned the group, were they all capable?

1530455226344.pngLogan watched on as more of his old friends joined the reunited group. Other than a smile and a 'hello', he remained relatively silent, quite overwhelmed by the whole experience. He never expected to see any of his childhood friends again, but right now all but one of them were standing together and at a spot they had once called their own. Logan thought he'd moved on since his childhood and pushed aside all of the bad memories of bullying and insignificance. The people he associated with now knew nothing of how much of a 'loser' he'd been when he was younger. They only saw an assertive, confident and physically attractive man. What would they think if they knew that hadn't always been the case?

Soon, Bella addressed the group to explain why she had been so desperate to get everyone back together. Really, she herself didn't explain much, instead posing the ominous question as to whether they had noticed anything weird about themselves lately. Physically and mentally, Logan took a step back from the conversation to allow others to speak up first. There had been something weird, but he didn't want to speak up if she wasn't referring to the strange abilities he'd recently developed.

Logan's attention was drawn to Kaia as she spoke up first. His eyes were fixed on her, once again admiring the beauty of the young woman he'd always been attracted to as a child. Thoughts of how beautiful she was were soon pushed aside as she displayed her ability. She was seemingly able to move the water as she willed it and she confirmed this by explaining how she'd once enclosed herself in water to save herself from drowning. He bit his lip as he hid his inner astonishment and curiosity at her revelation. This was then followed by Malcolm who also displayed an ability, showing the smoky haze rising from his hand, once again under his own control. He mentioned he'd discovered it as an accident too. This was all amazing to see and made Logan realise he perhaps wasn't alone in this. Still, he suddenly pushed aside any excitement or willingness to share. If people knew what he could do - the fact he was abnormal or defective - then they would look at him differently. He might as well go back to the days of being bullied and unpopular. He would lose all credibility and waste all of the effort he'd put into being the man his father wanted him to be. In a way, he hadn't needed a power to create his biggest illusion: himself.

"Wait a minute!" he finally spoke up, clearing his throat. "Did you all become illusionists or join the circus since leaving school?" He almost choked on the irony of his own words, for he was the illusionist. He'd discovered his ability by accident and had displayed it on occasions since. He'd even thought of ways he would use his gift to benefit himself and his business. Surely to own up to such a thing would jeopardise the profitable potential of such a power. "The only weird thing about me is that I actually gave myself the day off work to watch this magic show," he said, with a chuckle. "Why would you waste my time like this?" he asked Bella. Deep down, he didn't mean his words and he was happy to see his old friends again, but revealing the truth about himself could only lead to bad things.

Blushing again at Hector's words, Remi looked away, more or less ignoring Bella's hug. "Yeah, dinner would be great..." At Bella's words, however, Remi turned to give the girl a confused look. "Weird? No, not rea-" she cut off when Kaia raised water straight up from the lake but so much as a wave of her hand. "What. The. Actual. Fuck?!" Rushing to the water, Remi knelt down and waved her hand in the same way, but predictably, nothing happened. "How did you do that?" she asked Kaia, incredulous. She turned to look in Malcolm's direction, wide-eyed as he also displayed weird properties.

All apprehension had drained from Remi at this point, replaced with confusion and some part admiration. Why hadn't Remi noticed anything cool like this with her? What powers did she possibly get? At Logan's words, however, her eyes narrowed. Part of her, the child part that still lived deep in her, wanted to defend her old friends. But the logical adult half that had distanced her from them told her that Logan had a point. This could all be a ruse Why didn't Remi have a power? Because she wasn't in on the act. Bad feelings washed over her, a feeling of exclusion and isolation. Her face fell into an expression of anger. "Yeah... why don't I have anything? Why is it only you guys?"

Isabella knew it was a weird question, and unless they had noticed something off about themselves, they wouldn't be able to answer. But she knew her friends, and despite the fact that it had been years she could see their guarded looks. Wondering what they were doing here, why she had called them all here after so much time.

It certainly wasn't to shoot the breeze.

Turning towards Kaia, recognizing the girls nickname for her, Bella watched in slight awe as the water rose underneath her hand. It made sense that the woman would have a water based gift, considering her affinity for the liquid anyway. A small smile touched her features, and she nodded. "Yeah. Exactly like that."

At that time, Malcolm revealed his own gift, a smoky haze emanating from his hands. It didn't last long, but she lifted her gaze to meet his fiercely. "You're not crazy. None of us are." Logan's outburst drew her eyes away from Malcolm, and she shook her head. "I'm not an illusionist." She was going to say something else, when his next question took her off guard.

She couldn't hide the hurt that flashed across her face when he bluntly asked why she would waste his time. "I-" She started, cut off by Remi's bewilderment at Kaia's water dance. "I don't think it's just them." Bella said after a moment of tense silence, her eyes betraying the hurt she tried to hide in her voice.

Clearing her throat, she looked up from the sand and water, back at her friends. "I think it's all of us." She finished, offering them a small smile.

Erik was having a somewhat hard time taking in the group. It was overwhelming. He hadn't seem most of them in awhile, a long while to be exact, and it was giving him a whole hell of flashbacks to much cringier, carefree times. He gave Bella an honest hug back. It was nice, in the simplest way.

Hector offered to take them all out to dinner. Well, Erik could get behind that. It would get everyone to reconnect and it would be free food? He was down.

Erik was beginning to feel awkward when Bella finally spoke up. He knew they were all still friends, or at least no one should have any hard feelings against him, but he really just didn't know how to talk to them when it had been so long. The whole thing was just overwhelming. Not to mention everyone else seemed to be catching up and he was just...well, there. Existing. He breathed a sigh of relief as he listened to Bella start.

Kaia responded with something normal, but Erik knew that wasn't what she meant. He was about to speak up when she revealed her power...water manipulation, more or less. At least, he assumed that was what she was getting at. She didn't straight out say it, but he could put the picture together. Next was Malcom, whose hands poured smoke from them. Jesus - were they all going to have powers?

Logan spoke up next, and he was kind of a dick. Erik's pushed his lips together in a frown, but didn't say anything. He didn't want to start any fights. Although, maybe they didn't all have powers? This seemed like a dangerous situation to be in, he realized. If some of them did and some of them didn't, how could they know who to trust? It doesn't matter if they were once friends, many of them were different now.

Remi also expressed that she seemed to have no abilities. Erik was glad he didn't speak up. He didn't want people knowing what he could do if they were... well, normal. Bella thought all of them had powers...but how could she know? It did seem strange that only some of them had it, and that they just happened to know each other. What were the chances that this would happen to this specific group of people, anyway?

Erik thought for a moment. "I don't have anything either," he said. It didn't feel right to lie to them, but he wasn't sure he wanted to tell the truth either. "Is this a joke?"

Hector just watched as Kaia and Malcolm showed off their powers. He was wondering whether or not he should tell them his power or not. When you know someone can read your mind you start acting different towards them. Trying not to think of anything. He'd only told his parents about the power and even they treat him just a tad different now. It's not something he wants and even though his friends seem to have powers too he didn't want to look like a freak. He didn't even really know these people anymore. For all he knew they'd go blab to some tabloid and next thing they knew the FBI would be kicking down all their doors.

Hector was snapped out of his worst case scenario thinking when Logan spoke up. No powers huh? Hector realized that both Logan and Erik were lying about their powers. Well if they weren't going to tell he wasn't either. "Yeah. Seems like you guys are the lucky ones." Hector nodded his head, making a point to avoid looking at Logan and Erik. "That's pretty cool though. You could work at the circus or something." Hector broke out in a grin, looking around his friends. They all had powers. Well, Nora was missing but it would be more weird if they all got powers and she didn't.

"But for real." The man's grin faded and he took a step forward. "What does it matter at the end of the day? Why do we all need to be here? You're not gonna tell me the world is ending and you guys have to save it or something right?" Hector crossed his arms and eyed Bella. "I mean don't get me wrong it's good to see you guys but this doesn't really change anything." His words sounded harsh even to him but it had to be said. Maybe Bella was just scared and needed someone to talk to? But she could have done that over the phone.

Hector decided to drop it for now and sighed. "So what's your magic trick then, Bella? You say it's all of us but you haven't conjured a puff of smoke or anything."
