Hope this is a decent place for me to put this, a character in the game I'm about to run submitted this martial arts tree, and it looks good to me, but i wouldnt really know a well balanced charm if it walked up and kicked me in the jewels (at least not at this point, anymore)

So I come to see what you guys think :)

Flash Lightning Style (Celestial style)

This Martial Arts Style follows the principles of lightning. It is swift, accurate and brutal. Characters may freely use whips, seven-section staffs, fighting chains and sais for this style.

Flash Step

Cost: 2 motes

Duration: Instant

Type: Reflexive

Minimum Martial Arts: 2

Minimum Essence: 1

Prerequisite Charms: None

The exalt seems to disappear in a flash and reappears instantly in another location. Utilizing this charm, the exalt may move to any point in a radius equal to her normal movement rate (Dexterity + 12 yards). She may even appear behind an enemy to gain full bonuses for an attack from behind. However, this Charm is explicitly not a form of dodge, but a method of quick movement, either to flee from battle or to move freely over the battlefield at will. In fact, a character may flash to her enemy and attack, before using this charm to flash back to her original position, and remain out of reach.

Force Negation Technique

Cost: 3 motes

Duration: Instant

Type: Reflexive

Minimum Martial Arts: 3

Minimum Essence: 2

Prerequisite Charms: Flash Step

With this charm, the exalt powers her hands with essence and may completely halt an attack directed towards her. When attacked, the exalt may activate this charm and rolls Dexterity + Martial Arts. If the number of successes is equal or above that of the attacker, the attack is completely negated. The exalt literally stops the attack in its tracks, causing weapons, fists and arrows to freeze in midair. This Charm is counted as a parry for the purposes of attacks that cannot be parried.

Static Discharge

Cost: 4 motes

Duration: Instant

Type: Supplemental

Minimum Martial Arts: 3

Minimum Essence: 2

Prerequisite Charms: Force Negation Technique

By channeling essence through her hands or her weapon, the exalt may disrupt the nervous system of her enemy. The character makes an attack as per normal, but the attack does no damage. Instead, for every health level that would have been inflicted, the opponent suffers a –1 penalty to all rolls till the end of the scene. In fact, this Charm can be used with nothing more than a gentle touch on the opponent, and there need not be an actual attack.

Flash Lightning Form

Cost: 5 motes

Duration: 1 scene

Type: Simple

Minimum Martial Arts: 4

Minimum Essence: 2

Prerequisite Charms: Static Discharge

The exalt follows the form of lightning, swift and deadly, a crackling nimbus of essence surrounding her body. When this form is activated, the exalt adds her Martial Arts score to her initiative and dodge attempts. Unarmed attacks do lethal damage and the exalt’s essence is added to the damage of all attacks. The exalt may also flash to any point in a radius equal to her Martial Arts + Essence in yards any number of times in a single turn. Anyone making a barehanded attack against the exalt suffers lethal damage equal to the exalt’s essence that can only be soaked by stamina. This Charm is incompatible with armour. Only one form-type Charm may be used at a time.

Bolt of Thunder

Cost: 3 motes, 1 willpower

Duration: Instant

Type: Supplemental

Minimum Martial Arts: 4

Minimum Essence: 2

Prerequisite Charms: Flash Lightning Form

No matter the distance between lightning and its target, it will hit swiftly and accurately. The exalt stretches out with her fingers and lightning darts forward to strike at her target. The Exalt rolls a Martial Arts attack as per normal, but adds her essence to the dice roll, and may strike at targets up to a distance of (Permanent Essence x10) in yards. The base damage of the attack is the exalt’s permanent essence score x 2. This attack cannot be parried or dodged without the use of charms. Against the undead, Abyssals and other such creatures, the damage is aggravated.

Essence of Lightning

Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower

Duration: 1 scene

Type: Simple

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Essence: 3

Prerequisite Charms: Flash Lightning Form

By infusing the essence of lightning into her body, the exalt may protect herself from harm. When this Charm is invoked, the exalt adds her Martial Arts score to her lethal and bashing soaks. In addition, the difficulty of all attacks against her is increased by her essence, as a protective aura of lightning swirls around her to prevent attacks. This Charm is incompatible with armour.

Flashback Shock

Cost: 4 motes

Duration: Instant

Type: Reflexive

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Essence: 3

Prerequisite Charms: Flash Lightning Form

When one strikes lightning, lightning strikes back. When successfully attacked, the exalt may immediately roll Martial Arts + the attackers extra successes in a counterattack against her opponent. The damage from her opponent’s attack and her own counterstrike is applied simultaneously. Flashback Shock cannot be used to retaliate against other counterattack Charms.

Blazing Lightning Style

Cost: 5 motes, 1 willpower

Duration: Instant

Type: Extra Action

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Essence: 3

Prerequisite Charms: Bolt of Thunder, Flashback Shock

The character spends a moment in concentration, than explodes in a blaze of lightning quick strikes. Often, the exalt moves so swiftly it appears that all the attacks occurred simultaneously. The Exalt may make a number of attacks equal to her Martial Arts score against one opponent or many opponents.

Electric Nimbus

Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower

Duration: Instant

Type: Simple

Minimum Martial Arts: 5

Minimum Essence: 4

Prerequisite Charms: Essence of Lightning, Blazing Lightning Style,

Lightning gathers in the palm of her hands and crackles all along the length of her weapon, causing a devastating strike against opponents. The character makes a Martial Arts attack as per normal, but adds her essence to the accuracy and damage of the attack. This attack halves the soak of the target, and the damage is aggravated.

Well, I must say...I rather like it. It's a bit iffy in some spots, but overall, good. Kinda reminds me of Tiger style, but I love that style, so I may be a liiiiitttle baised. Kudos.

Thanks Still, I may have you do that, Though if thats the case Ill need to first contact the creator and get authorization, but also i guess ill have to go through and write some epic/stunt-like narratives for these.

I was hoping to get some comments on the balance of these charms right now, since they were submitted by a player for an upcoming game im running :)

I guess its time for me to get cracking, on altering those descriptions. lol.

The Form Charm is bascally a combo of the ones under it, a bit much I think.  Other then that, it seems similar to Snake Form except for the Form Charm being so powerful.

I must agree with Uteck. The first couple of charms seem a little overpowered as well. They are well constructed and all but for the cost, ability level, and little to no pre-req charms they seem a bit to much. My personal opinion is to slim them down a touch.
