Fantasy Cursed Island

"Yeah, well, normal people take darkness as a sign they should go elsewhere!"

"We're all beastfolk or blind," Siege pointed out, "But fine," she rolled her eyes and hefted some tent rolls, "Let's go check these rolls."

Roy nodded and glanced around for anything else before heading out, dismissing the light along the way.

The tents turned out to be made of heavy cloth. Considering these were intended for the battlefield field camps, they could probably stop an arrow at the right angle, though they did require a few casts of Mending on Roy's part before the cloth recovered enough structural integrity that it didn't look like it would disintegrate if you looked at it funny. "Hmm," Siege raised an eyebrow, "Well, that's neat." The tents, when assembled, were the size of a small room. Some of them had odd parts to their walls, like flaps and places to tie and secure stuff to, to suggest they might have been assembled into a larger structure if needed. They also had oiled cloth that could be stretched over them with more pegs to make them rain-proof in the event of weather.

Roy nodded. "This could make camping out more comfortable. We won't be able to find an inn on long roads between settlements, so it would be good to be prepared."

"Might be more trouble than its worth," Sinach fluttered down to look at the pegs, "These are heavy duty, they're meant for semi-permanent installation."

"Well, we're gonna need a base," Siege said, "I'm not wandering roads while Roy looks for leads, we might need them anyway."

"Another good point..." Roy shook his head. "Alright, we'll take them and keep an eye for a good place to set up a permanent camp."

"Hmm," Jalin went back into the treasure room to check on Emilia as Siege wrapped the tents back up.

By the time Jalin got to her, Emilia had completed about a dozen silken sacks, and she was still working on one.

"If you need to rest," Jalin said, "Go ahead. The prince shouldn't be here for a while." He tapped his cane and nodded towards her bag of holding, "Would you like help putting gold into the bags?"

Emilia looked. "Ah, yes, thank you. No one told me how many bags we needed, so I've just been making a lot."

Jalin nodded, settling down with the bag and the finished products, beginning to fill them. After a while of filling bags and feeling the volume, he spoke up, "I do not think we will need more bags," he said, "The pile is already substantial enough it could be passed off as a dwindling stockpile." There were still a few bags left that were empty, they could find other uses for them.

"Ah, good. I was about to run out of silk." Emilia finished up the one she had before setting it down with the other empty ones, collecting them neatly together.

"Heh," Jalin smirked, "I forget you're not a magical creature, your silk is limited." He tied off the last bag to be shared with the prince and set it atop the pile with the others. He stood and tapped his cane again before offering Emilia a hand.

"If you wish," Jalin helped gather up the empty bags to deliver them into Emilia's bag and handed it back to her. "I believe there are room on the second floor if you are seeking somewhere to rest."

Jalin nodded, "I'll leave you to it." He strolled out to the courtyard with his cane to see how Turac and Katsuo were doing. Turac occupied himself by fiddling with a small device he'd picked up from the same smith he got the rest of his equipment. It actually looked pretty similar to the shape of Sal's pistol, as far as the mental image Jalin had. "Are you two doing alright?"

"There we go," Siege wrapped up the last tent and bundled them all together. "It's getting late."

Emilia headed on to find herself a room on the second floor, not bothering to look for stairs as she could just scale the wall. The rough stone gave plenty of footholds for her.

Katsuo was leaning against a wall, doing seemingly nothing. He glanced over as Jalin spoke. "Yes, everything has been quiet thus far. Well, save for a distant shout earlier."

Roy helped as best he could, nodding as it was finished. "Yes, it is. We should find somewhere to sleep."

"hmm," Jalin nodded, "Likely a survivor that found a bear."

"I've eaten bear," Turac smiled, "They're chewy if you let them soak for a few days." He found the trigger on the device and arms fanned out and then snapped back in with a hiss of steam as eight darts six inches long appeared, embedded in Turac's upper thigh. "Well, that wasn't supposed to happen."

"I will go get Nidia," Jalin sighed and went to go look for the healer.

"I think the bandits had their sleeping area on the second floor," Sinach offered. The beds were probably not very comfortable, but nothing flipping the mattress over and using Prestidigitation to clean the bedding couldn't at least aleviate.

Nidia was standing up on one of the towers, looking out at the woods. Not that she could see much besides trees.

"I may sleep outside... But I'll make the decision once I see it." He glanced around before going to find the way up.

"Nidia," Jalin called when he found her, "Turac has... shot himself," he shook his head, "With a tiny crossbow."

Siege and Sinach followed, and the three did end up finding sleeping areas, that were exactly as poor as Sinach predicted, though Emilia seemed to have figured out how to deal with it in her own way in one of the areas.

Nidia and raised an eyebrow as she looked down before heading on down there to go check on Turac.

Her own way being to build a web up off the floor rather than touch any of the beds. Roy looked around and nodded. "I'll take the grass."

By the time Nidia and Jalin returned to the gate, Turac had already pulled out the tiny bolts. Despite the fact that there were eight bleeding holes in his leg, he didn't seem too concerned. But then, to a dragon such an injury was as minor as a bug bite, so Turac's view of injuries was pretty skewed.

"Of course," Siege sighed. After last night, sleeping on the ground was not an option, so she shangaied Sinach into using his stored magic to clean a bed, laying her sleeping roll on top for padding.
