= biography =

biography: Hazel didn't have a normal childhood or a particularly a very nice one. As a child, her father killed himself. When she was 11, her mother started dating a man who wasn't a very good influence on her. He was sexually abusive towards her, which is how she developed her dissociative identity disorder. Because of him, when something triggers her, she reverts in a child-like state in a way to regain the childhood which she lost. He also was very unkind to her about her weight. Which is how she developed her anorexia. She had been struggling with both disorders for 6 years until her mother noticed. Afterwards, she immediately divorced Hazel's abuser and sent her to the mental institute in an attempt to fix her deeply rooted problems.

He broke down in the interrogation room and talked about how he was addicted to drugs and how he thought he might have a mental disorder like either of his grandparents. He was psychologically evaluated and it was shown he had bipolar disorder. He was given the choice of jail time or going to a mental institution. He chose the latter.

why you’re here: It's not really one specific reason, but years of being bullied at school for his Tourette Syndrome and being ignored by his parents resulted in Kyle making a very worrisome statement to a school counselor. Initially he wasn't going to be hospitalized, but a psych evaluation revealed that he was experiencing painful intrusive thoughts because of his OCD, which he'd been diagnosed with for a little over a year. He'd gotten to the point where he couldn't allow himself or his belongings to be touched, and the mere thought of losing what little control he had over his life triggered an immediate and severe panic reaction. His parents, already somewhat negligent to the situation at hand, agreed without so much as a blink of an eye to put their sun under medical surveillance.

After a rather heated session with his therapist, in which he discussed to her that he had planned out how he was going to kill himself, as in goign as far as to hell her what he was going to do, and also what he'd do if it didn't work out. This proved to be shocking towards his therapist, so she'd contacting his parents and told them to take away any sharp items he may have in his room, unluckily, he still managed to try and go tpo the nearby train station and attempt to jump infront of it, luckily he was stopped by someone nearby, and taken to a hospital where they referred him to the adolescent psych ward.​

Personality

When it comes to Dan, he's a pretty flaky person. Extremely moody and often would keep to himself often, his parents thought he was an introvert before the idea of mental illness eve crossed their minds. Which is still true, but a lot of his loner attitude comes from his anxiety. He feels somewhat safer when he's alone, not that he has a social anxiety of some sort, he'd just rather not be in a place where people could possibly embarrass him.

He has a creative mind, and he's extremely smart academically, this is mostly thankful for his lack of a social life, so he tends to get projects done quickly and easily. He does like feeling smart and getting that extra amount of praise from his mother, however he feels lonely because of this, and gets extreme FOMO when he scrolls past the snapchat stories on the weekend.

He was raised in a pretty lving family with his younger brother, Jack. He was never abused or anything, neither bullied. Which begs the question on where he gets these genes- it was found in his grandmother, having depression herself, Dan was graced with the terrible genes, they weirdly enough skipped over his dad though. Which he never truly understood.

He began having suicidal thoughts, but with the wave of social media and depression quotes he frequently saw on tumblr he just assumed that this was a normal teenager thing, and he shouldn't overreact or he'd scare himself. When he, however, did notice this wasn't just a teenager thing, he went to his parents for help. They shrugged it off as a teenager thing like he once had, but when he persisted they sent him to a Christian youth group- which honestly did jackshit for his mental health. The advice there was never any good, and he could barely share anything to the group. His parents however did refer him to a psychologist when his mother had noticed self harm scars scattered on his arms, and she would soon find some on his thigh. She madehim sleep in the livingroom that night and took him to the doctor the next day. After weeks in therapy, his shrink had referred him to a psychiatrist. Who had no doubt in her mind that he had depression and generalised anxiety. He was okay for a while, took his medication and actually had followed the healthy coping mechanisms that were told to him by his therapist. Almost a month before his psychiatrist would've slowly reduced his medication dose, he hit rock bottom. He rarely went to school despite his promising future, relapsed in self harm and shut himself off from family and friends. He still hasn't told anyone what caused him to fall down this track.

Mental Illnesses

Sociopathy : Odette started to show traits of Sociopathy at a young age but Doctors, unable to diagnose it until a later age, were only recently able to begin treatment for her condition. She tends to lie frequently about anything and everything and it can be quite hard to tell when the words out of her mouth are truth or another story spun out of her mind for her own personal gratitude. And Odette will admit that most of the time her lying is for nothing other than her own entertainment. Manipulating others is fun, no matter how grand the consequences are for doing so. Odette also has a lack of concern for her safety and that of others. This does not apply to every person but this is why she can and has been seen pulling off crazy stunts that endanger herself and those around her. While Odette tries to simulate a lot of emotions that she believes others commonly display for certain situations, it isn't perfect. For most, it can be hard to distinguish but if one were to look closely enough, they would find Odette's emotional reactions to be choppy and flimsy. While she's felt just about every emotion and feeling, they don't come easily and she doesn't entirely comprehend them either.

ADHD : Odette has always been filled with energy and unable to sit still for long without complaints of boredom. This coupled with her other mental illnesses has Odette doing crazy and impossible things to keep herself entertained and her energy output under control.

Mania : Without showing symptoms of the other half of Bipolar Disorder, depression, Odette has been loosely diagnosed with showing signs of mania and manic episodes. She hardly sleeps or has a need to do so more than she is, has high levels of self confidence and self esteem, and comes up with grandiose ideas and plans that she may or may not see out. While some of the symptoms can be confused with ADHD and Sociopathy, the only real thing that distinguishes her mania from her other illnesses is the rare occasions when the episodes fluctuate, becoming lesser or greater, and when these symptoms go from seemingly positive to negative in an instant. For example, Odette may go from smiling and playing, of feeling good about herself, and in the next, like the flip of a switch, will resort to self harm or harm of others, and starts to view things around her negatively by putting herself down or becoming jaded.

History Prior
Odette's parents were much too young to have kids. Her mother had always been into trouble for as long as her own parents had known their child, always doing things she shouldn't without a care. Her father was quite the same and both of them in high school were both looked down on and admired for their rebellion. Unfortunately, these rebellion streaks also meant that they were dabbling into things two sixteen year olds shouldn't such as gun violence, drug dealing, and unprotected sex. When her mother found out she was pregnant, she already loved her baby fiercely but didn't give up any of the behavior an expecting mother should. Her grandparents did their best to nurture and assist their daughter while her baby grew but there was only so much they could do. After seven months of carrying little Odette, her mother and father were shot over a drug dispute. Fortunately, they were able to save the baby but they could not save her mother. Odette's father was shot in the back and lost the use of the left side of his body at seventeen. He no longer wanted anything to do with with drugs, violence, or his daughter and disappeared shortly after. Her grandparents were welcoming to the orphaned baby and brought her up like she was their own. After six months of hospital treatment for the malnourished and sickly baby, she was brought home and began her life with her grandparents.
Unfortunately despite their insistence on Odette's safety and good behavior to prevent things like what happened to her parents from happening to her, Odette was quite the same as them. Not only was it genetic in personality, but in similar mental illnesses. The difference is that Odette took care of her grandparents and always made sure she came home to them after everything. She loved them as fiercely as they loved her and despite her behavior, they let her be as she was with the promise that she wouldn't get herself hurt or killed.
Despite not always living up to the former, she did the latter. But her behavior caught the attention of the authorities and of her high school. Her grades were perfect and she had a lot of friends. And in her free time, she was drinking, popping molly, defacing school property and getting into things that put people in the hospital.
The final straw was when she and a few of her friends were playing with fire. One of them acquired third degree burns on their legs and when it was clear who was the mastermind behind the irresponsible behavior, they decided to take action against Odette.
So, she was ripped away from her Grandparents, her friends, and her life and placed in an institution for people with "problems".
But it wasn't unlike Odette to make the best of a situation, right? So despite her grim standings, she was determined to have fun anyway.

He may project his own worth onto others, and beg desperately for their attention using any tactic he can, from self-harm to external violence. He can be unempathetic towards people, and is just a confusing and contradictory person who's just trying to get his emotional baggage under control.
• Oppositional Defiant Disorder: Pollux absolutely cannot stand authority. Combined with his BPD, he often rebels for attention from his dependent.

• Anxiety: Opal gets intensely nervous around new people, especially adults.
