Very much a lover and not a fighter, Eli would try to dissuade from conflict as much as possible. But if harm came to any of his loved ones he will stand up and fight back. He cares very much for those around him,
much more than himself sometimes. Eli is calm, cool, and collected which is the perfect mask to hide his insecurities and sensitive side.
Eli is creative, open-minded, and a coward. He could think of many solutions to a problem, but instinctively he feels the need to flee. Really the only thing he saw necessary to leave was the falling of his one and only past relationship. Too much hurt and memories were lingering at his home, he needed a change, an escape since he has a bad habit of bottling up his emotions. He will always be there to listen others but tries to not burden others with his issues. -

Background:
> Grew up in a small community with a twin sister, loving parents, and a childhood friend he eventually developed a crush for.

> He finally confessed his love to Adaline, his childhood friend, in middle school. She reciprocated similar feelings at the time so the two started dating.
> Adaline and Eli went on many dates. He did all he could to be the best man he could be for her.

How long have you been at the boarding house?: He was the first resident at the boarding house. The main reason he approached Mrs. Tribbiani was because he needed to start fresh, awaken himself from the depressed state he was in after the end of his last relationship. But as he began his stay he realized other reasons he may have approached Mrs. Tribbiani was because he needed to become stronger and more independent. And some part of him perhaps wants to find love once more.
Why give up on love?: Eli hasn't necessarily given up on love, but he is afraid to feel it once more.
He's afraid to feel high on cloud nine but then have the possibility of crashing back down hard onto the ground. His heart still aches from his past relationship, but it hurts more since no anger was felt against the one who stole his love. -

. wes grew up with his mother and father in whitestone, new york. his parents had him at a very old age; they were retired by the time he was in middle school.
. he always felt somewhat left out having parents older than everyone else; his parents paid very little attention to him but still provided him with the things he needed to survive.
. his sister margie, who was 14 years his senior, moved to texas when he was 6, got married, and had 3 children. he was never very close to her, but still loved her dearly.
- with little guidance from his parents, around age 13 wes found his grades slipping and gradually found himself surrounded by more and more drug and alcohol users.
- by his freshman year at age 15, wes's entire friend group consisted of dropouts, stoners, and degenerates. it was about this age that he began becoming seriously involved with drug and alcohol abuse.
- in this crowd was one girl named jenny, who wes spent his entire freshman year chasing after, though it wasn't until the summer before his sophomore year that she finally reciprocated the affection.
- wes, completely infatuated with jenny, spent all his time around her, doing anything he could to make her happy.
- on his 16th birthday, he threw a party at a friend's house, and that night found jenny drunkenly hooking up with a stranger.
- in a fit of anger and intoxication, he took a friend's car and drove from the house without a destination. in the midst of all of his drunken tears, he hit another driver, though he was more injured than the victim.
- after spending a week in the hospital, wes's parents arrived, along with margie and her family and told wes they had something to tell him. it was at this point that they revealed to him that margie was actually his mother, and that at the time of his birth she wasn't ready to have a child, so his grandparents treated him as their own.
- despite having always been a rather upbeat person, after this occurrence, wes found himself detached from the rest of the world and in a constant state of depression, feeling as though he had been lied to and betrayed his whole life.
- jenny became unhappy with wes's constant sadness and broke up with him. this only increased his depression and caused him to start using harder drugs and drinking more.
- his parents sent him to live with his uncle in new mexico, where he also spent several months in a drug and alcohol rehab facility.
- after being sober for over four years and having saved money from various jobs he had taken up in new mexico, wes returned back to whitestone when he was 21 and attempted to reconnect with jenny. he made no attempts to contact his family besides telling them that he no longer wanted to speak to or be associated with them for the rest of his life.
- the two began dating again, and, finally feeling happy with his life once again, rented an apartment in brooklyn where they lived together for two years.
- at this point, wes proposed to jenny, certain that she was his entire future and he was going to spend the rest of his life with her. lately, she had been pulling back from him, seeming less and less willing to spend time with him.
- she declined his proposal, and the next day she had left their apartment with all her belongings and nothing but a note that explained the reason she had left - because wes was too attached to her and she felt as though he was far happier than she was and he deserved better. the note left no details about her whereabouts and stated that, should he come looking for her, he would never find her and he shouldn't bother.
- wes tried for a year but never found another person who made him feel the same way she did. he turned for a third time to drinking and drug abuse and also began to find himself with a different woman every night, none of whom ever compared to his first and only love.
- before he knew it, all of his money was gone and he could no longer afford to stay in the apartment he had once owned with jenny. he had no money, family, or house.
how long you have been at the boarding house . . . wes was the first tenant of the boarding house. after several weeks of homelessness and an inability to find a sufficient settlement or a well-paying job, he contacted mrs. tribbiani, hoping to find refugee and possibly emotional and physical rehabilitation.
why give up on love? . . . since the second separation between him and jenny, wes has found it difficult to believe that he will ever find anyone else who he loved as much as her. he makes attempts but is skeptical, and therefore would have trouble opening up to anyone new. that being said, he still believes in the idea of true love and is open to the idea, should anyone suit him well enough.
