Hi, my request to use scarecrow as a full word was a pretty low budget request honestly, and not something I had envisioned enforcing with brute force, nor was it something I imagined would anger people. By itself the world crow or 'crow is super innocuous. However as an author I am aware that science fiction is never with out social or political commentary and using crow in this context in a world of my creating simply makes me, a creator who values allusions, deeply uncomfortable. The Jim Crow Laws are not ancient history and It wasn't even a matter of some one complaining the word was offensive, it's just an unfortunate allusion and coincident that as a writer and author I didn't want to be making.

Let’s be honest, you were being a little ridiculous yourself. And if you wanted a catchier shorthand, my recommendation would’ve been ‘Straws’. Finally, there’s a good chance we could’ve ended up in real hot water and gotten in trouble by breaking that little rule.

Okay, I think it’s pretty damn reasonable and as a southern white boi, I wouldn’t feel comfortable about the connections the ‘crow’ term makes, intentionally or not. I feel the kick was deserved too, since you’re definitely being weirdly ridiculous about this whole thing.
