Crystal-edged War Shield (version 1.0) - A minor artifact shield with an offensive capability

Level 1 Artifact

This unusual shield is based on that used by a First Age Solar hero whose name has been lost to history. It is made from wood coated with steel but it’s edge, save for two handholds on either side, is coated with a rare crystal. It has a large spike the size of a man’s forearm tipped with this same crystal in the centre. This crystal is of unknown origin and is extremely sharp, able to cut through armour with ease. There are at least half a dozen of these shields in existence each with unique decorations. The original shield was made of Oricalchum and edged with adamant with a sun motif drawn around the central spike. It is rumored to lie in his tomb but the stories say that the shield was too heavy and unwieldy to be used by anyone other than him.

The war shield is treated as a normal target shield. However, the shield can be used as an improvised weapon to make an attack with the following statistics:

Speed: 3; Acc: -3; Damage: +4L (piercing); Rate: 2; Defense: +0

Note on defense modifier: The +1 PDV modifier of the shield is not lost if used to attack. In some cases attacking with a shield could aid in defense, while at other times doing so could completely remove it’s effect. The +0 can be seen as an average of the defense modifiers of these two situations.
