Personality: William is a pretty laid back man, he is pretty patient and he really hates to be rushed. William is also a realist, he doesn't really give much thought to hoaxes and myths. History: William has not always lived in Crystal Cove and he moved there after he graduated university. William comes from a small family up north who are well to do, he went to university down south and moved to Crystal Cove mostly on a whim. For a long time in Crystal Cove he worked as a local vet and made his money that way, until about six years ago he began to open and put together an aquarium in town. It has only slowly grown over the years, he still works as a veterinarian to help pay the bills and care for the aquarium’s animals though that is mainly on the earlier hours of weekdays. He used to dive around the reef and other ocean areas around Crystal Cove but hasn't had time to do so recently.

Morgan is fairly small in her human form (5'4") but while in the ocean she is a very large Moray Eel (or in her semi-morphed form shown above). Her eyes are a deep blue that at times appears nearly black, and she pretty much never smiles. Unless she's smirking...if that counts as a smile.

History: Morgan doesn't talk about it. All anyone really knows about her is that she grew up on the Australian Coast, but at some point left for North America, where she spent at least a few years as a lone wanderer traveling along the coastline of the continent.

Special skills/abilities: No one is entirely certain why, but being Albino (most mermaids born this way are stillborn) has gifted Moon with incredible anti-aging properties. That, coupled with her knowledge in the Ancient Ways, have given her the body of a young woman, even though she has lived well beyond the normal lifespan of one of her kind (Sea Snakes, not Mermaids (some can live practically forever)). Being known in the Ancient Ways has also gifted Moon with the gift of Sight (auras mostly, but also a rare glimpse of what is to come). If she tries very, very hard, she can occasionally help persuade humans to forget they have seen something or walk the other way. This particular trick, though, tends to send her into a minor coma for several days. Do not recommend. Moonscale can also sense things about sea creatures, such as whether they are injured or frightened. This gift, however, isn't something she considered very abnormal - she insists any mermaid could do it if willing to learn. Her main gift, however, is her ability to heal other sea creatures. It takes a huge amount of energy but she is always willing to help a mermaid or other creature in need.



Personality: Moon may be older than dirt, but she's one of the sweetest people you can ever hope to meet. She absolutely abhors violence of any type and is a strong believer in unity between merfolk and humans. She isn't what anyone would call normal, though. From her manner of speech to the way she dresses (think fae or occult), Moon constantly draws stares wherever she goes. She doesn't seem to mind, though.



History: Moonscale was born during a time when Humans hunted merfolk as monsters and demons. It was an extremely dangerous time, and humans were despised and feared by all merfolk. When Moon was born into an ancient clan of Serpents, her family was horrified to witness that she was an Albino. The laws of their people were binding, and it was decided that she would only bring disaster upon the clan. The moment she was old enough to survive without her mother, the child was abandoned to the sea, where she was found and adopted by The Sea Witch - an ancient mermaid said to have immortality and who was rumored to hold the secrets of the seas in her mind. The Witch, whose name was actually Morgana, raised her daughter in love and taught her all that she knew of the ocean and the inner workings of the tides. The two found joy in the discovery that they both seemed cursed with long life, and vowed to spend their many days healing others and maintaining peace. They did so for many years, up until Morgana was killed by humans seeking her powers. Moonscale grieved for a hundred days and nights, barely eating or sleeping. However, her gift of sight permitted her a vision of her own future - she would be forced to once again walk among humans when a creature she could not heal crossed her path. She was to save the girl, but lose her solitary ways in favor of joining others of her kind on land. In her heart, Moonscale could sense the tides of fate begin to surge around her, and she followed her heart all the way to the warm waters of Crystal Cove.

She can make almost anything out of any craft supplies you hand her and knows how to use power tools.

Appearance: Nadine is a fit human, some definition but definitely more toned than beefy, shoulders built like a swimmer's but still maintains a slight hourglass figure. She stands at 6'0" thanks to her father's side and weighs close to 176 lbs with little fat to spare. Her hair is a thick rough texture, long on top and partly behind down to her neck, sides shaved almost to the skin to form a long mohawk that Nadine tends to keep up in messy buns or braids. Her eyes are a chocolate brown and hazel rings surround the iris. She has deeply tanned skin, small moles, and birthmarks littering her skin, four noticeable on her face by her mouth and below her eyes. Nadine is almost always seen in jumpers or many, many different pairs of overalls and bright colored or printed shirts. She wears fruit earrings that her and her late wife would craft together outside of Nadine's work. Her body is covered in tattoos of all sorts of fish and sea life, her left arm specifically a sleeve of the reefs around Cozumel. Lastly, Nadine wears a handkerchief that her wife gave her on their one year anniversary.

Personality: Nadine is a very prideful and proud woman, not afraid to share her accomplishments and taking many things thrown at her to heart. Yet she bites right back at negativity, refraining from succumbing to her failures. She can tend to be loud and is usually quite an extroverted person. A new person is a potential acquaintance in her eyes and she's quick to treat them with kindness but not gullible enough to just spill her heart out to them. The only person to truly ever get her to open up without the aid of a few drinks was her wife. Still, she's working to reclaim her once cheerful and bubbly self as she works to finally overcome her grief, but until then she may seem a bit apprehensive.

History: Nadine wasn't born and raised in the Cove, coming from a farther away coastal region. She had a loving family that consisted of her mother, father, two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger brother. In life, Nadine was always fascinated with the ocean and lakes, the ecosystems, and creatures living among them ethereal in her childish eyes. She grew up on the stories of mermaids and selkies and more but didn't believe in it like her siblings, caring more about the actual aquatic life. Her parents always joked that they gave her the right middle names of "Joyous Dolphin". A name that her siblings would tease her about it at any chance they got. She went to a private school from a young age all the way through high school at the request of her grandmother. After high school, there was no questioning what Nadine was going to do next. She graduated early at the age of 17 and quickly, thanks to the support of her family, pursued a degree as an Aquatic Veterinarian.

In her second year of college, Nadine started to realize that while taking her core classes, she had found a new passion for 3d design and jewelry making. She quickly changed her major to sculpture and metals. After dating on and off with several people, Nadine also found, what she will stay say to this day "The woman from her dreams". Her name was Allora, she claimed to be studying to become a marine biologist. Nadine and Allora got along quite well, spending many evenings and nights out by the beaches near their university. They also dated others from time to time with the other's permission, but by the first year of Allora's master's degree and Nadine's graduation, they got married. It was during their wedding planning when Nadine asked what family would be there for Allora, that Allora finally told Nadine a secret that she had been hiding from her. Allora took Nadine to the beach that night and lead her into the deep waters where she showed her fins and revealed herself as a mermaid. Allora was ready to beg Nadine to keep her secret, to not be shocked, to understand her, afraid of Nadine's reaction. Yet, Nadine just laughed and smiled, freaking out slightly but more in awe that after years of not believing in the fairy tales, they were actually true. She dove into the water and immediately kissed Allora, promising that no matter what she would keep the secret, even if it meant dying to do so.

Life continued to go on as normal, Allora continuing to complete her Master's degree, and Nadine opening up an online jewelry store that was making bank rather quickly. However, just as Allora was about to graduate, she went missing. Nadine learned later from Allora's clan that she had been killed by hunters. In her grief, she moved back in with her family. It took about a year for her to overcome the greater part of her sorrows, and about the same time, she decided to just start over, start fresh. She found herself coming to Crystal Cove, a place that Allora used to speak of, buying a small bungalow away from the town and close to the beach. She’s stayed holed up in there for about three weeks now, until finally after a few phone Calls home, her family convinced her to go have a good time at the festival.

Job: Newly moved into the city, she has yet to sell her products in person, but her online shop remains strong and her main source of income.

Other:
- She loves swimming and also enjoys boxing as an activity to keep her fit. She owns a punching bag that she keeps in the main living room of her new home as the only place it seems to fit for her to comfortably use.

- She keeps a heavy journal on her nightstand where she writes about her days. It also is kept with a lock as most of her information to understand mermaids and small poorly made drawings of jewelry designs and Allora.

- She keeps hand wraps and wrist guards in her backpack and a helmet as she tends to bike around to get to places.

- Her late wife Allora was a Striped Dolphin Mermaid. They had been married for 3 years.

- Nadine is extremely allergic to coconuts and peanuts.

Doctor - Though this front is just a cover for her true agenda, she does actually have a degree and knows how to do most medical procedures by memory.
Potion Making - On her own time, Venette is able to brew potions, her specialty being a youth-restoring mixture requiring mermaid blood to create. It is how she retains a youthful appearance despite her growing age.
Singing - Perhaps if she was a full-blood mermaid she would have been of a siren variety with how alluring her voice is. Naturally good for a human, but has no real effect like a full blood's voice would be.
Limited Water Breathing - For a limited time, Venette is able to breathe underwater. Long enough to slip by someone in the water but not nearly long enough to actually live in the water.
Appearance:
Venette despite her age has a youthful appearance with vivid red hair and fair skin that has a natural glow. Rounded glasses that are lined with gold. While she is generally human, she does have a small set of gills that are often mistaken for scratches when she doesn't conceal it with makeup.

Personality:
Venetta has a gentle way of speaking, always being formal, and likes to think out her words before saying anything. She is experienced and cultured from her travels and if it wasn't for the fact she is a cold-hearted killer for her research she could be the ideal doctor. Behind her sweet smile is a vengeful spirit who has been wronged in the past and her hatred for mermaids has only fueled her unwavering thirst for knowledge.
Using her knowledge of mermaids she is able to easily find clans in towns she relocates to and has a very deceptive approach to her goals. Getting the mermaid comfortable before taking them out one by one if she isn't able to hire some muscle to plan an assault on a clan.

History:
Born from the affair of a merman and a human maiden, Venetta Price was born a half-blood. Forced to keep limited contact with humans but not entirely welcomed in the clan she lived a solitary life, taking comfort in her studies. Although the clan leader had an affair with her mother, he preferred to distance himself even when she had fallen ill. When her mother passed, Venetta was taken in only because of her mermaid blood and to protect the secret of their kind . . . Though she could never truly be a part of the clan, unable to reside in their underwater hideaway and many of the members being put off by her human blood. As she grew, a resentment towards mermaids had started to form.

The older she got, the more distant she became towards her mermaid blood and had started to develop theories that she desired to test out. Targetting her clan members one by one until they had become aware of the danger in their area, Venette had studied every part of a mermaid. When her pickings became harder to sample, she got in touch with a family of mermaid hunters to help her wipe out the rest of the clan. Since then Venetta has been traveling around, seeking out clans and residing as a doctor nearby to slowly take them out. Enlisting the help of the same family of mermaid hunters whenever the security of the clan went up or the members struggled too much.

Venette has worked with Zasha and his family a few times in the past and has even provided some knowledge of mermaids. Though only his parents knew she was a half-blood and because she disregards that part of her it has never really come up with Zasha.

Venette has done this sweet doctor gimmick over 10 times with different clans, sometimes having to call upon a favor with a mermaid hunter but has mostly been managing.

While she doesn't sing as much as she did when she was younger, she does occasionally sing a haunting melody while working in her lab. Though when mulling over some deep thoughts the mermaid blood in her draws her to the coast where she sings out to the crashing waves of the shore.

Venette has no sympathies toward mermaids and while she can feign sentiments to them she has completely detached herself from them to the point of seeing them as nothing more than object to be used then discarded.

Although she has taken out many clans, Venette isn't a physical fighter. She might be able to knock out a healer or scout when they're not suspecting it but if she were to face a warrior she'd be outmatched in a head-on fight.
To compensate for this she is a very manipulative lady who knows how to get them when they're at their weakest or unsuspecting of her.

He’s of average height, with a slim build and a short blonde goatee. He usually wears faded shirts and cargo pants.

Personality: Chris is a very friendly man, often spending his days on a bench playing music and listening to people’s stories. He’s extremely patient, and never loses his temper, always keeping a patient, calm demeanor. Chris has a good sense of humor, able to make light of many situations. Despite all this, he doesn’t like to form close relationships, and the few friends he does have don't live in Crystal Cove. He follows a somewhat loose version of the Buddhist faith, looking for enlightenment everywhere (relatively speaking of course), and he has no fear of death, knowing that he will likely be back again to search for enlightenment.

History: Chris has been blind since birth, and realized he had perfect pitch at a young age. Once he’d figured out his skill, he decided he wanted to become a musician. He proved to be very good at learning how to play most instruments. His singing skills weren’t the best, but they got better over the years. He moved to New York after he graduated from high school and made a living playing in various bars and clubs. Eventually, a record scout found him, and he made a few records and quite a bit of money. As he grew older, the noise of cities began to bother him, so he decided to retire to the coast. He bought a house with cash and retired to Crystal Cove.

Imagine a body / tail similar to those depicted, only her head is that of her human form for the most part, except for her eyes (there aren’t any) and skin (matches the colors of her tail). She appears as a horrific, yet beautiful woman, until she unhinges her jaw and her massive teeth erupt from her mouth to drag in her prey.

On land, Dahlia has an unnerving appearance/aura that puts humans on edge despite her sweet attitude. Her eyes are glass, and her teeth ever so slightly too sharp to seem truly human. Also, the whiskers she uses to detect prey underwater are tucked tightly into the sides of her mouth in her human form, and can sometimes be seen for brief flashes of time. No one has had the guts to say anything about them. Her massive teeth / pinchers are gone in this form, replaced with human teeth that allow her to speak on land. She is petite and very slender, with an acrobats body.

Personality:

Dahlia is a very manipulative person, and has been since she was a child. After suffering a decade of severe abuse, adapted to become a bit of a chameleon. Depending on where she is, and with whom, Dahlia can be as sweet as honey or as vicious as a viper. She never really lets people in, too terrified of being abused or used again. She craves power and respect, but deep down she is desperate for someone to be herself with, even though she isn't even sure who that is anymore.

History:

Dahlia spent the first 10 years of her life as an orphan after her parents abandoned her in infancy. She was found and brought up by another Bobbit Shifter, a merman called Jackel. Jackel used his young charge to catch him prey and forced her to hurt or even kill others for him, after he was injured in a fight with a shark. For years he beat and mentally abused her, until she finally snapped at 10 and killed him to end her torment. Afterwards, she lived on her own for about 6 years until meeting up with her current clan. After years of clawing and manipulating, she's made herself one of the most respected and feared members of the clan. However, she won't stop until she's Leader, and the Crystal Bay cowards surrender their territory.

Dahlia started out as an omega, but over the years has managed to make herself invaluable to Nyx, the clan leader. Her word carries weight, and her influence is deep. She calls herself an advisor to the Alpha, but she won’t hesitate to take on the role of warrior should it be needed.

Other: Bobbit Worms are born without eyes, so Dahlia has never seen anything. Despite this, she claims that her favorite color is red and refuses to hear anyone's arguments about it. To her, color is a concept, a feeling. Most things are. Of course, she doesn't really tell anyone how she feels about color or sight because that would mean letting someone get close enough to ask those sorts of questions.

Relationships:

Octi is something of a lackey for Dahlia, and has been loyal to her ever since the Bobbit saved her from an attacking shark. Dahlia refuses to say it, but deep down she greatly values Octi and she sees her in a very protective, territorial manner. No, their relationship is not healthy, but she’s the closest thing to a friend that Dahlia has.

Agelessness and Rebirth - Genevieve can't die of old age, instead, when she comes to the point where most would die of old age, she is reborn with a different appearance. Her personality, memories, and powers don't change much if at all, although it's possible for them to evolve, change, or morph overtime. While she is ageless, she can still die if injured or seriously sick.

Venom Kiss - Genevieve can inject venom from fangs in her mouth and through her tentacle-things. The venom would cause an average, healthy human to become sick for a while, but they would survive. Her venom is more dangerous to those weaker physically.

Appearance

Human form - Genevieve stands around 5’5, with long black hair that reaches to her ankles. She wears very light and flowing clothing, often dressing in red sundresses. Her fangs are still present, although at a glance they just seem a bit sharper than most peoples.

Mermaid form - In her mermaid form, her long black hair remains, her skin turning a more pink color as the tentacles and center of her is a blood red color, the ‘jelly’ forming around it and acting as an overskirt that moves up into a sweetheart neckline.

Personality: While very curious, after her long life with heartbreak, she can be dismissive and doesn’t want to get attached to any humans, causing her to be cold or rude towards humans. She has a lot of emotions, but not a lot of ways to deal with them, thus her anger and sadness can come out in bizarre or harmful ways. Towards her clanmates, she’s neutral most of the time. She cares for them and excuses their behavior, too busy wallowing in her own memories and emotions.

History: Genevieve was always fascinated with humans, always wanting to learn more about them and their culture. Constantly going to shore to visit humans, she eventually began to fall in love with different humans. Due to her ageless nature, they would always die, leaving her alone and heartbroken. After this happening several times over, Genevieve has become deeply hurt, beginning to see human lives as having little value compared to hers as they die so quickly compared to her. Deep down, she’s still very fond of humans, but her constant loss has left her feeling hollow inside.
