Crucible: Darkening Skies

Grey

Dialectical Hermeticist

Introduction/Story Teaser

"...At my old age, I suppose I could be persuaded to part with it for a nice retirement fund. This is a good ship, young'un. Served me well through stormy skies and air battles for forty years. Heh, I remember when I lost this arm on the prow there; fighting a renegade Troll turned pirate. I think I like this replacement more, though. Never without a weapon, aye? I may be out of the smuggling business but I still have enemies. There's an Infernal Duke out for my blood, somewhere... But I do ramble on. You're going to want a crew, you know. Can't fly this yourself. You'll need a Magus to keep the manatech online. Couldn't hurt to hire a rat or two, they're fantastic little buggers to have on any vessel...."

Take to the Darkening Skies as the crew of a magical skyship to find fortune and adventure, friends, rivals, enemies, treasure. Perhaps even love and loss. Maybe, if you're brave or foolish, you might try to save the world.

Gameplay

Original Setting: A world of high adventure and powerful magic, of my own creation

Simple Rules: A modified version of my Strange Times ruleset, freely available, is all you need. Robust and moddable to suit any character or circumstance.

Sandbox of Wonders: The party is free to choose their own goals, allies, enemies, and resources through chargen and play, with a broad selection of races, templates, and powers.

Requirements

Bring enthusiasm, imagination, and a fondness for flight and freedom. Newbies of any flavour entirely welcome. I'll provide any assistance with setting or rules you might need, and the setting has enough space for you to add whatever you need for your character or your own fun. I'd like six players, for a full skyship crew, if possible. You'll have to decide on the captain among yourselves.

Approved and set to awaiting players, amazing work Grey :) . Let me know when you have enough players.

Sounds interesting. If you need one last person, let me know and I'd be happy to join but I don't wanna say yes in case someone else really wants it. I think I'll follow it either way.

I do believe four will do for crew of a small ship, and I can go to as many as six players. If people have concepts in mind let me know, as that will influence the likelihood of going ahead with those interested.

Besides, I've wanted Ehmy and the Captain in one my games for a while. ^^

Although I already know who The Fuzz is playing.

You are always welcome in my games, Thief. The thread with the bulk of setting info is found here, and you already have some familiarity with the system from Fallen.

So where can I find this rulebook? And i'm thinking of some type of Pattern of the Leadon Skull Treefolk or Troll. Should be interesting.

I've hyperlinked to a download from the original post for you, Ridel.

I will be making some modifications to the system once the thread is up on Storytellers, though.

Yes indeed. They'd be a bit of a pariah in both societies.

[QUOTE="Thief of Words]I was thinking a Shaydensea Chronomantic ne'er-do-well, if that works. :)

Human or other? Perfectly fitting either way.

I think a human Arcanotech with a worryingly propensity to grand ideas and bad luck would be my choice.

Captain Hesperus

Sounds good to me. All the more reason to be expelled from the guild.

The question is, who is the captain?

Humans, Trollkin (though Gobbos and Orcs may be less fun, up to you), Treefolk, Rats, Elementals, and Infernal Scions are all playable choices.
