CROSSROADS CAFE

On one corner of a less than busy intersection near the outskirts of town, a lone café presents itself to the public. Its gray walls stand a considerable distance away from the other neighboring buildings. The sign hung on the side, projecting slightly for drivers to see easier. An X shape backing, holding the letters spelling out “Crossroads Café”. A simple sign for a simple building, most people thought as they looked on. The café itself attracted very few guests. Like the outside, the inside was a very bland shade of grayish white, with tables and booths to match. There were few employees, and their menu was frighteningly small.

Few people bothered to walk in. Those who did came and went. However, there were a small number of regulars that would sit and chat or draw or otherwise waste time in the café.

A lone girl wandered into the humble restaurant. She looked all over the room, her expression going from a smile to a look of confusion and back again. Only one or two other customers were at the tables, making her nervous. Her thoughts were kept to herself. A quiet grumble made her blush. She stepped up to the café’s counter.

“Excuse me,” she called the attention of the one employee she could see. “Do you have anything sweet?” The girl asked with a flustered face.

Cane was sat slumped over the bar, not a very good impression if a new costumer walked in.. Yeah. Like that was gonna happen, Cane had thought taking this job would be a good thing, he obviously thought wrong.. He was just waiting for the right times when a talent scout sauntered through the doors 'Ha, fat chance. Idiot' he sighed.. He then saw a woman had called him over, 'have you got anything sweet' really?, do you really ask that question in a cafe

"yes ma'am, can I ask you to be a little more specific?" He said

Reiko hummed loudly as she took another moment or two to think. Another small stomach pain made her twitch slightly. "A-anything with chocolate is fine. Whatever you'd recommend I suppose haha...," Reiko laughed nervously.

"Alright miss, back soon" Cane mumbled before walking away from her, she seemed nice.. He wandered off into the kitchens and washed his hands, picked up a menu and tried to decided on what would suit her best.. In the end he decided on a chocolate fondant, a chocolater sponge cake with melted chocolate inside, what's not to like? Once he was done was it, Cane plated it up and walked back out, setting it down on her table. "There"

Reiko quickly picked up a fork and munched a piece of the Chocolate fondant. Her eyes lit up.

"This is really good!" She complimented. As she ate the rest of the chocolate filled cake, Reiko looked around at the near empty cafe. It just didn't make sense to her when the dessert was so delicious.

She remembered the brief excitement the chef had when she walked in. "...Oh I know!" Reiko finished her cake. "Someone special is coming here and you're all closing early?" She said, coming to her own conclusions.

"Why thankyou miss!" Cane beamed, happy that somebody was complimenting his cooking, for once.. He sighed and shook his head when she sugested that.. "I wish, I really do, but sadly not miss, sadly not.. Nobody comes in here anymore, this place used to be full of life and happy times.. Nows the ambience is as grey as the very walls in here" Cane said sadly

Reiko stuck her fork in her mouth and took another look around. 'Yikes...,' she thought, staring at the bland decor.

She moved the fork left to right in her mouth. Her eyes lit up again, and she opened her mouth to speak, only to drop the fork onto the table with a loud clang. "Ah! Errr.... Why don't you just paint it? Wouldn't that make it look more exciting?" she asked excitedly.

Cane stuck his hand out before the fork could hit the table and caught it.."Didn't mommy ever tell you not to speak with forks in you're mouth?" He chuckled to himself.. "And yeah, I suppose we could paint it, but we don't have enough money to get some decorators in, witch leaves the staff to do it themselves, unless we could drag people off of the road to help!" He laughed

“Haha, I suppose you’re right…,” Reiko giggled. She propped her elbows on the table and rested her chin on both of her palms. “But I’m sure there’d be some way...” she said with a far off sigh.

Reiko blinked. “Staff?” She looked around for another worker in uniform. “Where are the rest of the staff anyway?” She wondered.

"Well, that's just rude!"

A young girl cried out from the back. Just as quickly as it was said, the voicer revealed herself, revealing unmistakably amethyst eyes. With a huff, she crossed her arms and took a rag, walking along to each unoccupied tables and cleaning the very top. "We're here too, you know."

"Please don't mind her outburst, She's what you call, alarmed that he'd say such a thing." A man said, walking over with a small smile. His brown hair was lightly shook as he turned to look at his young sister. The yong thing had been huffing the entire time, a habit of hers when she was displeased. "I hope you enjoy your stay and the services. Thisone here has been, taking up the jobs for some reason!" A small hint of displeasement in his tone appeared as he reached the end of his sentence as he referred to what the male before him had been doing.

"Anyway, please excuse the staffs inconvience, excuse me." Yousuke continued off towards the cash register, checking it once before closing it once more. Suppose some decorating would do, just as she had said... He sighed, this would come out purely from their own pockets..

Cane whipped around.. "Oh, when did you two get here?!..I didn't notice you'd come in!, and it mostly is just me, I'm the only one who has nothing better to other than work in this place, I do apoligise" he replied to the girl

Nanako rose up from cleaning the tables, looking over back to Cane. "We've been here since 30 minutes ago." She shook her head, the black strands of hair brushing her face. "Please, there are other staff, just some aren't. Exactly here or told if a customer has come. "She called, directing it towards their current customer.

"Im gonna believe you haven't even seen the rest of the staff yet, huh?"She asked, putting her hands on her hips. It was common thing for Nanako to willingly talk despite work still being an object of focus.

I came running through the back door and threw my bag into the break room, then ran through the kitchen and into the dinning area.I leaned over with my hands on my knees and took a few breathes,"Hey...I'm sorry....I'm late",I said in between breathes.I stood up and took one last deep breath."Sorry,my alarm didn't go off and I over slept.I'll stay over if I need to,or work during my break".I was trying to fix my unruly hair so that I looked somewhat presentable.

Reiko laughed awkwardly. "Eh heh heh... You all seem friendly with each other," she smiled nervously.

Just then, a rather disheveled looking girl ran in. "Oh, suddenly there's more people. Maybe you guys are actually a popular place?" She said, trying to change the mood.

Axton opened the door casually and walked in setting his bag on the ground and tightening his tie.He waved and smiled warmly to Shanya "Good to see you."

He re-tucked my button down shirt and checked my pants for any dirt or filth till He was satisfied than pat Shanya on the shoulder as he walked by "I'll be counting on you tonight Shauny" I said "Let's make it a great night".

Axton walked over and clocked in heading to the front of the dining room smiling and greeting everyone he passed.

"A proposal, what do you have planned?" Nanako asked, inching over towards the table little be little. Eventually, Yousuke returned to rejoin his sister and other coworkers. He tiled his head lightly, confused with what the cook has to say.

Cane smiled, jumping up onto one of the tables.. the way he spoke was truly captivating "this place has gone down hill, my fellow co-workers, and our lovely little customer here has suggested we spruce up the place a little, a lick of paint, some more advertisement, and it will be just like it was in the old days!"
