Fantasy Crimson Yin: Forbidden Love

eclipsehowls

Five Thousand Club
Welcome to Crimson Yin, a place where dragons and humans live side-by-side. The humans live within a large city and many villages and small towns that are scattered throughout the countryside. They have access to a couple of rivers and two lakes as well as a forest where they may hunt and take down trees to build homes. For years the dragons and humans have been at war with each other, each enslaving the other species. There are a few humans who live among the dragons and are known as 'sages'-people who tend to the dragons willingly and see them as Gods and the Rightful Rulers of the land. But not everybody wants the dragons and humans to reconcile. There are humans who believe the dragons would be enslaved to their will or wiped out, dragons who are content and happy with humans being under their rule, and those torn in the middle who just want peace. You must decide: Do you stand with the dragons, with the humans or are you working towards peace? Can two hearts join together to unite the realms or will they cause bloodshed upon the land?

A black dragon sat on a mountain peak, wings folded against his sides as he stared out over his future kingdom, his eyes following a couple of Hunters who were coming back with prey. Overhead the larger sun shone behind him, casting the dragon and mountains in a warm glow but it didn't do much to take off the chill in the air as autumn was coming. The days were already beginning to grow short and soon winter would come bringing with it snow and make times hard for the Hunters of both races. Herds would move down to warmer areas and some left the lands of the dragon altogether in winter which would put a strain on Crimson Kingdom.

I sit outside and sigh seeing some people arguing loudly as it turns into a fist fight. I look down "Idiots" I stay outside my wings extended out

Ashen was hiding himself in the dark, a top a cliff just outside the kingdom where he could see everything. Noticing the small outbreak and arguing Ashen extended his wings and growled in his throat as he then stood on all fours an leaned his neck down over the cliff, letting out a menacing roar as a warning to the two fools. Once finished he snorted an flapped his wings, taking flight to circle the kingdom once an then landing next to rain, nudging his large head against her neck "You seem irritated this morning" Ashen had a deep husky tone and when in his original dragon form it had a slight slither to it. As he tried to converse with the queen his sharp blue eyes gazed up to notice the black dragon, his son watching over the kingdom as well.

I kind of smile "No I'm fine dear" I nuzzle my head against your neck happily. My voice sweet and medium pitched. "Do you think something is wrong with our son today?" I look at Storm my blue piercing looking

Storm sighs as he looks towards the fist fight. Fools, he thinks to himself. We need to save our strength in case a war breaks out between human and dragon. Turning his head to look east, his eyes catch the looks of his parents looking at him. Getting his massive paws, he spreads his wings and flaps into the air before flying down to his parents. Landing, he bows to the King and Queen of Crimson Kingdom. "Mother, Father," he greets them, moving from a bow into a regal sitting position.

"Son" I nod and step forward and hug you "Is something wrong today dear?" I look at you and my wings flutter and icy steam blows out from my breathe as I watch the men fight still but keep an eye out "I might have to break it up" I sigh but stay seated watching them in disgrace still.

Storm wraps his wings around his mother which is a dragon's way of hugging and shakes his head when his mother steps back. "I'm just thinking about the coming winter. You know how the herds will migrate to warmer climates and some end up leaving altogether in winter, going into the Yin Republic. And it's risky sending the Hunters into the Yin Republic since they could be killed."

"Well" I shrug "I don't know what to tell you right now baby ask your father what to do" More people join the fist fight. I walk forward and glide down and start talking then they stop and stand where they are I stay down on the low lands my wings shaking more steam blowing out of my mouth.

Ashen had been watching his two beloved but when the two didn't cease fighting he was brought back to reality an rolled his eyes at them, now looking to his son as he was asking him a question about the up coming events. Shaking his large deep blue head, Ashen sighed softly. "Storm it's a difficult position to be in, you kind of have to wait and play it by the day .. If the first snow fall is a bad one we might have to move down to the warmer areas." Ashen knew this would unsettle his son but he also had to remember either way was a lose-lose situation. If they stayed the weather would kill them off but if they leave it will be the humans killing them off next.

Storm's eyes narrowed at the thought of going to the warmer areas and then sighed. "Yes father," he said, scuffing a paw on the ground. He wasn't happy about the dragons being so close to humans even if he did find them fascinating.

I fly back up as it starts to rain a little everyone going inside. I land and my wings twitch again "Come on let's go inside" I sigh changing form walking wanting to run in it always cold to me when it rained. I shiver a little. "Ashen when Storm leaves I would like to have a word with you. Okay?" I look up at you and smile talking with some maids and butlers for a second.

Ashen hadn't been meaning to be such a mood killer for his son but life was not easy as a king and Storm would have to figure that out, you were always thinking about the others before anything else. At Rain's comment he raised an eyebrow but shook his head and wings as he morphed human an ran his pale fingers through his dark ebony hair, pushing it back out of his face as he stepped inside the castle walls, stepping toward her he placed his hand on her waist, nodding politely to the maids "What would you like to talk about darling?"

"The men that were fighting said that they were going to go to the villages and steal their food and water before it's gone and freezes. I don't know what to do darling." I sniffle looking like i'm about to cry. If the rest of the villages find out they might start a bigger rampage and take down the kingdom. I hug you trying to calm down.

Storm makes his way to his room in the royal quarters in the western wing on the second floor. He ignores the maids and slaves running around as he enters his room and shuts the door before going to to his bed and falls on his stomach, face buried into the pillow. The green comforter gives some color to the otherwise morose setting, his bedroom painted a mix of black and dark grays with glow-in-the-dark stars plastered on the ceiling. Hearing footsteps, he lifts his head and growls at one of his handmaidens who cringes and steps back before hurrying to the fireplace to start a fire in the large hearth.

Aero walked through the streets and saw people buying food and stuff. He walked to the edge where a little creek ran and sat down on a rock with a sigh. "I wonder what everyone else is up to," he said to himself as he skipped a stone. One.. Two.. Three... Sunk." A little fish swam near him and he put his hand at the surface of the water making the fish swim away. Peaceful and very very quite He thought as he laid down on the rock "It's so boring," he muttered before starting to fall asleep.

Storm heard the crackling of the fire as one of his numerous handmaidens started a fire in the hearth and got to his feet, walking towards the window overlooking the gardens. Not willing to sit in his room and think, he went out to the balcony, climbed up on the railing and then flew off. Maybe Aero would take his mind off the possibility of being forced to move to warmer areas if the first snowfall was bad.

Aero got up and walked to a clearing in the forest area before looking around to check for any humans, he didn't see any so he turned into his dragon form and shook his wings before releasing a screech from his jaw. He stretched his wings and took into the sky a purple glow illuminating his body as he got to the sky. He looked around for anyone he knew and started to fly around slowly making sure to stay out of sight from the humans but still in view of any other dragons nearby. His tail slashed the air and didn't hit anything but he wanted to do it. Then he sneezed and a blue flame shot from his mouth lighting the sky with a little burst as he freaked out looking at the creek below.

Storm caught Aero's scent after a bit of flying and made his way to the forest. He saw the blue flames from his friend a mile off and quickened his speed so he could get to his friend before humans spotted the two dragons.

Aero felt bad about what he did so he decided to try to hide it. His wings flapped and wind flew off towards the direction of town so people would think it was nothing. This is a bad idea, he thought to himself as he stayed on the same level of altitude as before.

Storm continued flying after his best friend. Maybe he would make Aero adviser when the young prince took over the kingdom but that would hopefully not be for many more decades. "Aero!" Storm shouted, hoping his friend would hear him. What Aero was doing so close to humans, he wasn't sure and resolved to find out before his parents did.

"Storm?" Aero asked as he turned toward the voices direction and saw a black figure. He looked around and saw a few deer down by the creek so he knew the fire didn't do much. He sighed in relief and turned back to he figure he believed was Storm before he started to fly slowly in the direction of the figure.

Relieved that he'd caught his friend's attention, Storm flew towards Aero. "Everything alright Aero?" he asked in concern.
