Charms and Spells: Sachiko Ever After - 11/19/2005

In this world, there's nothing worse than parting ways with a dear friend. Some may say it's "sweet sorrow," but as far as I'm concerned, sorrow is sorrow – sweet or not, it's still depressing.

Fortunately, I've learned of a charm that can help take some of the sting from any goodbye. It's a sort of ritual that one can perform with friends to ensure their bonds of friendship are never broken, no matter how far or wide any may travel.

This ritual centers around a local folk legend from the small town of Tenjin. There, an innocent, spirited young elementary schoolgirl named Sachiko went missing right around 30 years ago. Sadly, she died within its grounds, but her spirit still walks this Earth, and some say she's been given the power to grant wishes and ease worries.

The ritual I outline here is intended to induce communion with the spirit of Sachiko, and is guaranteed to work from anywhere in Japan (and possibly from foreign countries as well, though I have yet to confirm this). If performed correctly, Sachiko will pass through and grant you her blessing, and you will all be bound together as true friends for eternity. Be warned, though, that if this ritual is not performed exactly as specified, Sachiko may be angered. And I would hope any regular readers of this blog know by now that angering spirits can only lead to trouble!

The first thing you'll need to do is obtain a paper proxy representing Sachiko. The exact design of this paper proxy is pictured below, and may be printed and cut out for use in the charm. It's fairly simplistic, but don't let its basic design fool you: the shape is very deliberate, is designed for white paper only and must remain completely blank.

MAPS

Heavenly Host Elementary school is made of overlapping dimensions. This means you can hear someone, be in the exact same room as someone but not see them. It also means that time is overlapped. One minute you can see someone's corpse, the next their ghost, then the living person. It's that crazy. Here's what everything looks like.

A note: it's highly likely you will see candles scattered about the school. This belong to Ayumi Shinozaki.

Ghosts/spirits:

Sachiko Shinozaki, the main antagonist. A seven year old girl that murders children for fun. She was killed by the principal of Heavenly Host Elementary after she witnessed her mother's murder. Since then, she has killed children to keep her mother company.

The spirits supposedly killed by Yoshikazu Yanagihori, (they were actually killed by Sachiko):

Yuki Kanno

Ryou Yosizawa- the first victim. Speaks with a terrible lisp due to his tongue being forcibly removed- weirdly, the others aren't affected by this

214831.jpg

Tokiko Tsuji- the youngest of the child spirits. She had her head from above the chin forcibly removed and speaks only in a series of gurgles.

Yoshikazu Yanagihori. The supposed murderer of the children. He was driven crazy by the Shinozaki curse the same way his father was. He carries around a large hammer and likes to smash people's heads in.

Yoshie Shinozaki- Sachiko's mother. She was a nurse at Heavenly Host Elementary. The principal tried to rape her but when she refused, he pushed her down the stairs. Her neck broke and she died. The only witness was Sachiko, who was quickly killed too and newspapers claimed it was an accident. She only stays in the infirmary and is rarely seen. When she is seen her form is shadowy and described as being "like black mist."

RULES

1. If you die, make it dramatic. Gory deaths, please.

2. Oh, usual roleplay rules.

3. Make sure you're an original character.

4. You can see the corpses of any of the normal characters though.

5. The only way to find out about how to escape is to find the notes belonging to Naho Saenoki, the paranormalist. You can meet Naho in the school but she won't tell you anything. She's psychotic.

6. The only way to find out what really happened to Sachiko and Yoshie is to read Yoshie's diary- located in the infirmary.

Here is the link to the diary entries:

(Corpses from all good and bad ends can be found.)

Watch Corpse Party or use the wikia to find out more.

8. Other characters you might meet:

Yuuya Kizami. A crazy psychopath obsessed with finding a little sister. Carries a knife around with him. He can't feel empathy for other humans.

Nari, Nana and Chihaya. Because everyone runs into them at some point in Corpse Party. Why? I have no idea. Chihaya is the scaredy cat with the dark hair, Nari is the bitchy one with the brown hair and Nana is the normal one with the bow.

Sakutaro Morishige. A creepy psycho that thinks looking at dead bodies keeps him sane. He has photos of the best ones saved to his phone. He's going crazy.

Ako Suzuki was sat atop of her desk after the school day ended, swinging her legs back and forth. She was upset- not that she'd ever admit it- because she'd found out that she was going to have to move away soon. She hated the idea of leaving her friends and feared that she would not make new ones at her new school. With a sigh, she touched the paper doll in her pocket for reassurance. The paper doll was part of a charm she'd found on the internet, designed to keep friends together. It probably wouldn't work, but hey, it gave Ako hope- and she was always up for these voodoo rituals. She glanced at her friends, she hoped they'd be up for the charm too.

( @Xeno238 @BishopOfKings @Kotomi you guys ready to start?)

Shikyo groggily picked his head up off his desk. He had slept through the last few minutes of class and didn't know what was going on. He sat up and stretched and adjusted his glasses so he could see the clock, School was over. He rubbed his eyes and pulled his bag up onto his desk and began to look through it to find his drawing notebook, so he could pass sometime. He pulled it out and looked around looking for something to use as inspiration. He saw Ako sitting on top of her desk and smiled, The girl was the first friend he made in this town and he remembered all the fun times they all had since then. He flipped open to a blank page and began to sketch out his picture of Ako.

Akihiro Daisuke was sitting at his desk right across from Ako. His first bestfriend ever. They known each other since they were in diapers. And they been through thick and thin. And over the last two years he's been having new feelings for her. But he hasn't man up to say anything to her. But he still enjoys being her friend. He stood up and stretched. His body towering over everyone else. At 6'4 he's the tallest student in highschool. Most distinctive feature about him. He yawned loudly. "Finally. The school has ended." He said to himself.

"You can say that again." Shikyo said finishing up his sketch of Ako's face. "I swear the school day just keeps getting longer and longer." Shikyo looked back towards Ako and raised his pencil and measured out Ako's body. He smiled remembering when they met, and how she said that he looked like he needed a friend. "Thanks" Shikyo said under his breath so that nobody could hear him. He smiled and went back to his drawing, and started on her body.

Homoura was in here usual state when the bell rang, hiding at the back of the class with her head buried and a book, barely even noticing the bell she only realized class was over when she looked up most her classmates had cleared out. Standing up she moved over to the group of people she'd come to call friends over the past year, though she still felt like somewhat of an outsider she was doing here best to fit in. Taking a seat she heard the end of Akihiro and Shikyo's conversation, "It's not that bad if you, I don't know, actually do your work instead of drawing for the whole lesson." Gesturing towards Shikyo with her book as she spoke.

Shikyo turned his head to look at Homoura "I try but, inspiration just comes to me" he put on a big smile "and hey I'm not scolded for doing it!" He paused "Well most of time I'm not" he said rubbing the back of his head. He turned back to his sketch and went back to drawing Ako's arms.

"Don't be a hypocrite, Homoura." Ako smiled, "We all knew you were too far into your book to even notice what was going on." She liked Homoura; the girl was lovely. But their friendship still felt kind of awkward. It was a shame Ako would never get to fix it, now that she was moving.

"Hey at least I-" Misunderstanding Ako's jab she stopped herself mid sentence when she saw her smiling. "Sorry" Sighing as she realized she was just teasing her, this was the reason, well ONE OF the reasons she had such a hard time making friends, she could barely tell if someone was joking or not in situations like that. "Why are we here anyway?" Homoura hadn't actually asked why Ako wanted to meet up here yet, she was reading when she'd told her and just kind of shrugged her off as she normally did.

"We're here to do..." Ako fumbled in her pocket and pulled the paper doll out, "This!" She'd known about the charm for a while- she was a huge fan of Naho Saenoki's blog- but struggled to believe that it would actually work. But it was worth a try right? The doll itself was kind of crumpled from being kept in her pocket all day but she hoped that wouldn't affect anything. Hopefully, it would still work.

Looking at the paper doll Homoura sighed happily, she should have expected it to be some of that occult junk Ako was so into. "Well, What is 'this' then" Unable to hold back a small laugh as she spoke, Ako could be such a kid when it came to the supernatural sometimes, she almost seemed to believe all the stuff she read off that blog she was so fond of.

"Don't laugh!" Ako insisted, "I'm sure this charm'll work!" Just because some of the things she'd tried in the past hadn't worked, didn't mean this charm wouldn't. It could work! Maybe!

"The Sachiko Ever After charm." Ako said, "You've heard of the school that got torn down, right? Heavenly Host Elementary?"

"Cant say I have" Homoura was a little... behind on all the local gossip and rumors, in the months she'd been here she'd barely interacted with anyone beyond her friends, spending most her free time at home, reading or playing video games. "Care to explain" A little curious as to what had Ako so worked up she decided to dig a little deeper, it wasn't like it could hurt right?

(No, no. It couldn't hurt at all, Homoura. It's not like we're going to be sent to a freaking demon elementary school....)

"Heavenly Host Elementary was a school that stood were Kisaragi Academy now stands. They say it was torn down after a murder incident." Ako frowned, "I can't remember exactly what happened. But they say there's a kind ghost of a girl called Sachiko attended that school. But instead of haunting people, she goes around granting people's wishes of friendship and happiness!" Akiko smiled and held out the doll, "Hence the Sachiko Ever After charm! It means we'll be friends forever!"

(Hey now, it's not like she knows that. Ignorance is bliss right?)

"Sounds fishy to me, since when did ghosts go around granting wishes?" Thinking about it, this was the first she'd heard of a ghost who COULD grant a wish. The ones she'd heard of just came out of mirror and killed you, shuddering at the thought, that Bloody Mary rumor had given her nightmares for weeks.

(True, true.)

"She's a nice ghost." Ako said, "You don't have to join in, if you don't want to." She had guessed that Homoura would be like this. She just didn't believe in the spirit world. Maybe it was better if the girl didn't join the charm, she might mess it up. Then, Ako might not see her friends ever again.

Akihiro chuckled. "You and your ghost stories Ako." He knew about her interest in the paranormal. Always trying the charms and all that. "What make's you think that this one would?" He asked her curiously. He had a bad feeling that either way this was gonna be interesting.

"Why wouldn't it work?" Ako shrugged, and she turned to him, "You'll do the charm with me, right, Akihiro?" She gave him a look. If he wouldn't join in, what would be the point? He was her best friend, they had to stick together. She couldn't stand the idea of not seeing him again.

Akihiro nodded. "Of course. Been there for a lot of your previous charms. Ain't abandoning you now." No matter what the charm is he'll always be there for Ako.

Ako grinned. Thank goodness for best friends.

"I'm sure this one will work!" she said, "Naho seemed pretty certain of it and the story behind it seems to make sense..." But then, Naho hadn't posted anything since. Was that a bad sign?

Akihiro chuckled. "So how many people need for this one?" How many do they need? A half dozen, four, ten? Seems like the only one that knows is Ako.

"It's two or more." Ako said, "The number doesn't matter." Her heart was speeding up with excitement. She always got excited before performing a charm. They were actually going to do it!

Shikyo put his pencil down as he finished up the drawing of Ako. "Sounds cool." He said speaking up from his desk "if it means we'll be to friends no matter what I say we do it." He stood up holding his notebook and walked closer to everyone. "Come on Homoura, it's just a friendship charm." He smiled "I mean what could possibly go wrong?" He looked at Ako "Oh before I forget" he said as he carefully tore his drawing of Ako out of his notebook "I finally got around to drawing you." He said as he handed her the drawing "I think you should have it."

Yuina looked up, just noticing that school had ended. Her favorite song was blasting in her ear through her black headphones. It seemed most of her friends were up and talking; not that she could hear a word of it. She waited a bit for the song to finish before pausing the music and taking the headphones off her head. She placed them around her neck for safekeeping and eyed the paper doll Ako was holding in her hands. "What's going on?"
