“Immortality — a fate worse than death.” -Edgar A. Shoaff
It is said that when a soul experiences physical death and it’s sins be too great, the Gods will shut it out and forbid it from entering the Afterlife. Such that it shall experience rebirth from where they had been slain, sentenced to walk the earth once more with the scar of their first death upon their reformed body. It is from then on that such a soul is to be cursed, denied any manner of true death to fall upon them, forever trapped in a cycle of temporary death and resurrection. From that point on, it is impossible for them to be destroyed. Decorated with the scars of their many deaths, they walk the earth as a blight upon mankind. Though many have tried to kill them, time and time again the Gods continue to shut them out, and return them to their bodies as to endure a thousand deaths a thousand times over.
The scarred immortals were a force that was not to be destroyed, impossible for any mortal man to deliver them unto judgement. So it was that they then began to plot, seeking to simply contain the immortals such that they may be locked away from the light of day. An unholy prison known as the Monolith was constructed, its stone walls forged from the very same mountain it was built upon. It was here that the immortals were lured, disarmed, and bound in countless chains to be imprisoned forever miles beneath the surface of the mortal world. Though their lives already be a cursed few, dark magic was wrought by the holy men and women that still spoke the ancient tongues, another curse was placed upon them. After they were branded with the mark of condemnation upon their backs, the Priests called upon the ancient spirits that resided beyond the veil, requesting their aid in keeping these souls contained.
They called, and the Great Dragon Orochi answered. Great disfavor did he find with the unnatural state of these humans, and wished them to be destroyed as well. So it was that a pact was made with the desperate mortals. Should the scarred immortals ever leave the Monolith, they would be hunted down in an unending bloodlust, until each of his eight heads would taste their flesh. Eight times must they die, and only then would their immortal lives come to a permanent end. Their souls would be destroyed, the afterlife still denied from them, and their stain made clean from the earth. With the destruction of their souls, the immortals will be forgotten by the world, as if they had never emerged on its surface to begin with. They were effectively trapped, with nowhere to run should the seal of the High Priest be broken.
But this prison would not be the end for them.
After five hundred years of plotting and scheming. One of the Monoliths prisoners instigates their escape. Upon spending time listening and waiting, it is put together what the Immortals must do if they wish to survive, and break this curse. The eight individual spirits that serve Orochi must be destroyed. Hunting the hunters, if you will. Slaying them will free the Immortals of their risk of utter destruction, but there could be more to this spiritual connection than what the guarding priests have whispered in the darkness. But slaying a spirit is no easy feat. Unique artifacts must be gathered if the Heads of Orochi are to be made vulnerable. Then their heads may be ripe for the taking.
Only together can the immortals be strong enough to succeed. Only with the same intent can they be free. Selfish desires poison hearts, and divided will they fall.
Break the curse, or accept your fate.

OKAY! Welcome people, hope you enjoyed that little blurb I put together for my most recent fever dream. Some notes to be left here at the bottom that I didn’t quite explain above. These are various warriors of many different backgrounds that once wandered the earth, only to be lured and trapped in the Monolith for one reason or another. The combat for this plot follows similarly to that of Demon Slayer, in that every character practices their own unique art form with variations, except they all have their own personalized weapon that doesn’t necessarily have to be a blade of any kind. Their art does not have to be elemental, it just needs to be sensible so nothing too crazy. If you have any ideas you aren’t sure on, feel free to address them to me!
As for the heads of Orochi, while thought through mythology to be one being with eight heads. Or characters will discover that the eight “heads” are merely eight individual spirits that all have to be hunted and destroyed if they wish to be free. The artifacts required to slay them are ancient weapons born alongside the spirits as a contingency of sorts made by Orochi himself to slay his servants should they turn rogue. Only through collecting these can they be truly killed, otherwise the spirits will just be born again to hunt the immortals once more. So there’ll be side quests of gathering the artifacts, in addition to the boss battles of the Eight Orochi. It’s a rough summary with plenty of room to expand.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to address them below! Looking forward to getting this started!
