The princess took a moment and seemed to be deep in thought, presumably thinking about what to do next.He nearly didn't catch it, but Vincent briefly slight traces of nervousness on the princess' face. It was gone before he could even look closer, and was replaced with a grin. "Would you care to walk with me to the castle? I'll give you a private tour of the grounds and it should leave me with enough time to get to the tea. I'm sure there will be plenty to do at the castle even when I'm not around."
"That seems a little..."
"I'll sneak you into dinner if you want," she said. Now that's some opportunity you don't get everyday. Even though it was probably At this point he was already expecting it, and indeed the lively guard accompanying them was instantly bursting with joy.
"Sure, why not?" he said smiling. The princess took the lead and started walking towards the castle. "So, ah," she said trying to make conversation. "Do you two have... plans for the... you know. The 'big day?'" she said.
The wedding was indeed only a few weeks away, though to be honest nothing much will probably change for Vincent. The guard replied, "Oh! The wedd- oh that day. Well, I guess I will most likely be surveying the streets, typical guard duty. We wouldn't want anything bad to happen on that day, eh? What about you?"
Judging from her behavior earlier, Vincent had a feeling that it was something that the princess was not exactly comfortable with. Sure enough, a few moments later the guard facepalmed. "No no, wait, please don't answer that. Stupid question. It's just a reflex of asking it, you know? Like when someone asks 'Oh how are you doing?' and then you're just like-" The guard rambled on until she managed to stop herself and calm down slightly, "I should just stop talking before I make it worse."
Immediately the guard turned towards Vincent. "So what will you be doing?" she asked. She seemed to be trying to hide it, but looking into her eyes it was clear that she was asking for a little help.
Vincent briefly thought about it. "I don't have anything planned for it really. Well, maybe set up a stall or something. I'm just hoping all goes well you know?" he said, spreading out his arms, "Can't wait for trade to be established between the kingdoms, and that should really boost up our profits eh?" He chuckled and sighed. Maybe he could then start travelling or something along those lines. Maybe he could start to actually see for himself what he had heard from all those stories and read from books.
