Color Problem

Lady Warlock

Anime RN
I used to be able to highlight text after copying it over and then change it to the default text color.

Now whenever I copy and paste something, even when I choose to get rid of all formatting, the default is black and I cannot change it.

This is a major problem as someone who uses the dark theme.

There is no way to set it to the default color... that I can see.

That is the whole problem.

The default color is a color that changes based on theme and the color selector doesn't have a box labeled "change with theme to always be legible".

There should be an option that's at the top of the color picker dropdown (and is the full width of that dropdown) that has, on Dark theme, and is called Automatic. "Automatic" may not be readable (it's too dark on my tablet) but that's the color you want.

I can't replicate that on mobile. I'll try on my desktop when I get home.

It still changes it to gray for me.  Of course without hitting "remove formatting" it also keeps the white background, but I was assuming you didn't want to remove all formatting, just change the color.

(And by "gray" I mean the default color; switching to the default theme turns it black.)

I had success with it a few minutes ago as well.

I honestly think this problem is sporadic.

I had it happen last night, I had it happen a lot when the site was starting up after the big update.

I thought it had been fixed and then it happened last night again.

Not quite sure what else to say... If it happens again and I can still find this thread at that point, I will let you know.

OK!  *crosses fingers*

@Kaerri

I found an example of it.

Here:

The first three bullet points in the last section... when I highlight them, the default color option is not actually the default color; instead it is the color that I pasted it in as and I can't change it or find a way to make it change depending on theme.

I can take screenshots of what I see for the default color if needed.

that's because it's a link. you can't change the colour of links. :P

oh sorry, i thought you said the last three bullet points. i'm not really sure why it's doing that, but we'll try and fix it. :)

do you mind providing screenshots of what you see?

Actually, the three bullet points in question are the ones that aren't links..

Additionally, link colors can be changed using html.

I don't know how to code in html in a way that the color changes based on theme though so while I know how to code colors, I don't know the code for the "default" color which is the one that changes based on theme.

So, here is the picture with the default color for the three bullet points. It is a gray color and it doesn't change with theme.

Here is the picture with the default color for normal text, which does change color based on theme. In my current theme, it looks like a black color.
