Coloniser 95, or 'The 95' for short, is a huge vessel designed to transport thousands of crew in comfortable living conditions. The ultimate goal for those on board is to create a new colony for humans, on the distant planet Kepler, which they won't reach for another ten years. For this reason, the crew is primarily composed of highly intelligent or skilled individuals; who will offer a service during the ships flight or the colonisation of the planet. However, for the next decade, the crew will be gently drifting through space, researching in the labs; enjoying the leisure deck or cosying up in their private pods.
Romances are encouraged on The 95, as populating the planet with Earth-like family units is part of the end goal and travellers were also selected for their fertility. However, if simulating the conditions on Earth becomes impossible, passengers may opt in to the impersonal program of donation and insemination when their time comes to contribute. The most essential staff, like chief engineers and the captain, are contrastingly prohibited from romances; to keep their focus on the mission at hand.
In its decade long voyage, the political climate, ruled by the democracy of the ship, will undergo many changes. The people work to earn their stay on the ship, but the rules in an isolated, socialistic society can be heavily debated. Unrest between the lowest ranks, with the least desirable rooms and smallest number of food credits, and the highest ranks in the lap of luxury could disturb the peace. However, for most, day to day life on The 95 is just like that on earth...
This roleplay will focus on the second year of The 95's voyage, so the characters are familiar with the lifestyle but still have opportunities to try new things and develop new relationships. Even the least privileged on The 95 experience a middle classed lifestyle, so in this futuristic utopia the main focus will be on how relationships develop in this isolated environment; where you can't just skip town after a bad break up.
I will play the role of Captain to guide the story, create crises and bring characters together if things get a bit dry; but in general this will be an open ended roleplay where the stories can meet your desires! If you want to be the ship detective, a gambling womaniser or make an on-board cult, The 95's your oyster! Maybe one day we will reach Kepler...
