Song of The Three Kingdoms

Three Kingdoms connected to one another by a triangular border is where our song takes place. This song has not always been sweet, nor is it always tragic, it is a dynamic song that spans centuries. Whether it spans for centuries more is up to its writers, the leaders who dictate the lives of those who are common, offering protection and direction to their people. Not always have these leaders been just and kind, the Kings and Queens of times past are as complicated as the song itself. Our verse opens with the death of a King, and the rise of a Queen, his child. This death was unexpected and sudden, an assassination made by an unknown party. The young Queen's position is precarious and uncertain, her youth, status as an unmarried woman, and the assassination of the previous ruler all work against her. As if that weren't enough for an inexperienced Queen to handle her father left the Kingdom treasury nearly empty, spent on wars to gain glory and land, land she is not sure she can hold onto.

To the east the kingdom of Versailles has offered aid in the form of an alliance, to be sealed in an arranged marriage between herself and their Crown Prince. She travels to Versailles to meet her potential husband and draw up a treaty, taking with her trusted Knighted Lord in command of her protective guard, and her ladies in waiting, the only friends and support in these dark days she has. Also in Versailles is the Prince of Ophellia with two of his friends, come to court Versailles's Princess on his father's orders. How will these events play out? Will their be marriage vows and wedding bells or blood spilt and war? Perhaps there will be both. This song can only be sung by it's players. So we begin.

The Kingdom Ivore

The eldest of the three kingdoms is the proud and honorable kingdom of Ivore. Ivore has always been ruled by one family and one family only, a dynasty stretching since their rise centuries ago. This is quite a thing to boast, and they are thoroughly proud of it. They have fought off bandits, raiders and invasions from the north since the beginning, and as such they place a high value on their men becoming strong warriors, in Ivore even a farmer knows how to fight. But no matter how strong they are, it becomes more apparent with each passing King and Queen how old they and their customs are. Ivore is slow to change and traditional in its own brand of values. There is call for building scholarly institutions, setting up a larger parliament and improving the life of the common person. Unfortunately a country on and off in war finds those things difficult to do.

They are located to the west and their land is as wild as it is beautiful. It is also the biggest of the three kingdoms, with wide open spaces and undisturbed forestry that they have been know to use to their advantage in battle. Ivore does not have much in terms of trade. The royal family's sigil is the wolf.

To the south lies Versailles, the epicenter of political intrigue, art, and scholarly pursuits. While Ivore has never changed its dynastic royal family name Versailles has, in fact two generations ago was their latest shift in rulers. Versaille is luxurious in riches and in no shortage of crops, their land is especially ripe and well tilled, their commoners sleep at night with bellies full. No other kingdom can claim this, but then again it's easy to be generous when there is plenty. The flora, castles and common buildings of Versailles are unrivaled in their beauty and integrity.

Versailles is hardly ever stricken by war and never by famine, one would think it a paradise for commoners. Unfortunately even the beautiful Versailles has its demons, the competition for power and the throne is cutthroat. Even among common merchants is there a struggle to be on top. The throne is never safe here, and if you are a noble you had best keep your wits about you in court. The royal family's sigil is a stag.

Bordering the ocean is the kingdom of Ophellia. They are the only kingdom with ships and trade opportunities beyond the seas. They have access to foods, materials and items from lands foreign and unknown to Ivore or Versailles. They are ruled by a lone Queen, Ravenna, who took her throne from her abusive and greedy king husband by murdering him in their bed. So shrewd was she that she had all of her nobles in full support of her actions. Since then Ophellia has prospered. It is rumored that she is a sorceress, but people tend to say such rude things about powerful women don't they? Both Versailles and Ivore have become reliant on Ophellia for certain supplies and trade.

Ophellia's lands do not just consist of beaches and rocky shores, but out of the three kingdoms theirs does indeed have the least farms, their people preferring to take to the sea and make their living that way. The royal family's sigil is the Kraken.

 • The pacing of this roleplay will be one post every two days minimum. As far as literacy goes for this rp, there is a low requirement. A paragraph, consisting of about ten sentences, is all I ask per post, you're welcome to post more than that of course but not less. This rp is more or less meant to be relaxing and easy! In that spirit please have fun with it and do not be rude to posters who post more or less than you do. Do not offer assistance with posts unless asked and do not judge. This is that kind of rp so please know what you are getting into as far as pace and literacy goes.
 • That being said, godmodding is a line that will not be crossed. You do it you get one warning and if you do it again I'll boot you.
 • If something comes up and you need a break or to leave just let me know. I allow for a week hiatus max however so if it's more than that we need to find a way to have your character exit the roleplay. Please be communicative with me to that end. Let me know what's going on with your schedule, I don't want to boot you after two days of no posts and then find out a week later you just needed some off time and want to come back.
 • I am not accepting characters under the age of 18.
 • Please use real life pictures, they can be fcs or someone else if you so wish they just need to be real people. Other than that you have creative license with how elaborative or decorative you want to be in your profile. You may give more information or categories in your profile but you may not give less. You need to be sure to fill out the entire profile I've given.
 • The standard of literacy expected in profiles is a little bit higher than in posts, please give me enough to tell me what your character's gist is. This means at least two paragraphs of history and personality.
 • Be respectful, kind, and cooperative to other players, if there is a conflict you bring it to me straight away and I'll sort it out but don't go fighting with each other.
 • If I make a decision please don't argue with me, keep in mind that I am the one modding this roleplay.
 • To make a reservation you go to the reservation thread, where you copy the code given and fill it out, an icon and basic info. Please know that reservations are for only 24 hours. So if you see a position you want and it's reserved check back to that thread in a day, I'll be making posts in it updating whether or not reservations are closed or filled.
 • I made fc suggestions! But you are totes free to not use that fc for that role!!! Lord and Lady's are positions are not limited in number, so while royalty only has a few positions open nobles do not. So this roleplay is essentially never going to be full.

Government

The government for this setting is a mixture of old Arthurian feudalism and Tudor Dynasty politics. For an easier comparison if you've seen Game Of Thrones it is also something like that, with a noble parliament and some ranks in lordship added. If you would like some information of ranks of nobility [here]

This is the code I used to create an thread that looks like this. However this site's coding is a bit different I see, I can't get text to go between picture or even next to pictures, how do you effectively use graphics on this site?

Hi Space Bard, were you planning on getting help with this coding? If so, then your best bet is to have it in Site Questions and Information, where our resident code monkeys live. I've move it there for you now.

Captain Hesperus

There are two ways you can do this. You can use image float or rows and columns. Examples look like the following:

Is there some way to use these methods to get pictures on both sides of the text? I'm guessing using the column method, but can you alter the Column=span3 number to mean more columns or will that mess up the code? or do you do something else to it to get it to three columns?

thank you! I think that concludes my questions then, i'll keep fussing with code and see what else i can do aesthetically
