Takes place a year after the movie ending. Miguel gains the ability to be able to cross over to the land of the dead after nearly missing the sunrise
Miguel was running through the streets of Santa Cecilia, his loyal xolo dog Dante barking excitedly as he ran along with him.
The boy had his guitar strapped to his back and in his hand he carried a red notebook that he planned to use as a song book.
School had been let out so Miguel was excited to finally have some free time. But even more excited to be able to spend more time with his Papa Hector and the rest of his familia.
He crossed over into the Land of The Dead running passed a crowd of skeletons. "Come on Dante! Papa Hector is waiting at Rivera Plaza!" Miguel called to his friend who barked in response.
After Ernesto was exposed for what he really was, the plaza was renamed after the Riveras and Ernesto was kicked out of his tower and ended up living in a place called Shanty Town the place of the forgotten.
Miguel and Dante made it to the Plaza, and Miguel saw his great great grandfather sitting on a bench tuning his own guitar. The boy smirked mischievously slowly sneaking up behind him.
