You could smell all the unhealthy foods and see all the prizes that were getting won at various booths. It was a nice day for a carnival. It was warmer than it had been previously, the fall season letting up a little bit so that people could enjoy the warmth and not be bundled up since it was at night. People of all ages were enjoying it, this simple thing bringing them all together in a very positive way.

All the targets ended up going to it, because why not? It had been a few months since W.I.L.O.H first learned about the threat that loomed over the targets, and there hadn't been a single movement since. Granted, the scientist this time around was a lot smart than FREEDOM Labs, but they still would've been able to see if he was causing trouble. So they felt it was okay that the targets were allowed to go to the carnival as long as their assigned heroes were keeping a very close watch on them. It's just a carnival, what could really go wrong?

The smell of the ocean was masked by the overwhelming scent of fattening, fried food. Kyuwon walked gingerly throughout the crowded lot, kids and adults alike running around happily. He'd only arrived ten minutes ago, yet the massive amounts of people were already making him tired. It didn't help that he was on high alert too.

"Is there anything you want to ride?" Kyuwon asked, as he looked down. A short, strawberry-haired female gazed back at him.

Holland, or Holly as she preferred, was the individual he'd been assigned to protect. A marked target, Holly once possessed immense power. It was a power that WILOH's latest threat found an interest in. She wasn't the only person the threat had its eyes on though. There were additional targets in the same city, which was all too convenient if one were to ask him. Each target were assigned by an agent just like Kyuwon.

It was still quiet though and no one knew what the threat's purpose was. No one knew who he or she was. There just wasn't enough data to predict what was going to happen next. The only thing anyone knew was that former children of FREEDOM's experiments were disappearing one by one. It was the kind of situation Kyuwon hated--the kind where he was unprepared.

He was able to enter Holly's circle though. Upon moving into the apartment next door over the summer, he slowly entered her life as subtly as possible. At first, it was accidental meetings as neighbors. That slowly led to him asking questions and making himself appear as though he were unreliable. Once classes began, other WILOH operatives were able to put him in two of her classes. Being partnered with her was entirely coincidental but a convenience nonetheless.

Now they were at the fall carnival as friends. It spelled danger due to there being so many civilians and how many casualties there could be, but it'd been quiet for a while. A small part of him even thought there wouldn't be anything to worry about.[/div][/div]

Buzz off, negativity!
Fill me with
smiles!

It was Fall, children were giggling while most adults were conversing with each other. Lance was visiting the local carnival just to have some fun. Most of the children at the fair were eating some candy apples. The boy wasn't interested in sweets but, he did want to win at least two large teddy bears.

"Hey, Sky! How about we try the shooting range? Does it sound good to you?", Lance asked Sky, a friend of his that he met at the college, with a large smile on his face. He was curious about how carnival games are played.

Lance was just interested in the two large bears that he could get when they manage to shoot everything within the time limit. It was his first time at a carnival. His family back at Britain wouldn't go to carnivals as his parents deemed them 'dangerous' or 'sketchy'. He spent most of his childhood tending to his family's tea shop and going to the local library to read books or to relax.

The British boy just ate his cotton candy while admiring the view of the ocean nearby, it looked pretty at night with the moon shining on it. The smell of the food that was being made by the locals was certainly making him slightly hungry but he did want to win those two bears on the shooting range.

Noah stood in front of what he assumed was the carnival's entrance for longer than he would like to admit. He didn't mind crowds, on the contrary, he loved knowing there were people around in case anything got too boring and he needed to talk with someone -there's always that one person- but this was different. The carnival was filled with kid's and parent's shouts, laughs and lyricless but upbeat-y music, all competing over who was the one worth hearing. It was loud, and he had to remind himself Max (bless her soul) was inside or he may have left the place altogether right then. He was never a fan of loud places; concerts, pubs, football matchs, you name it. Last week his shower broke down, finally, and made an awful screeech sound he couldn't even go check it until he had calmed himself down, breathing in and out like a maniac. That's when he decided he would do something about it.

Internet said "approach your fear in a safe environment", and what's safer in this boring city than a fall carnival? So he breathed out air he hadn't realised he had been holding, and entered the place.

When he saw Maxima, who always managed to look somewhat business-like, he smiled the thoughts to the back of his head, waving obnoxiously. When he got close, he looked both ways as if checking if something was close enough to hear, before leaning a little and quietly pointing to his back. A stray smirk slipped in his face at the middle of his presentation "I may or may not have a purple roses and lilacs bouquet in my backpack, and it may or may not have nearly given an elderly woman in the bus an anaphylactic attack. Unlikely scenarios aside, if you see any cute edgy doll and reconsider your bad, awful decision of not going on a hunt today, tell me. I've got it covered."

Her attention was focused mostly on staying close to him, using him as a buffer for the people around them, but it seemed that he didn't like all the people and walking through them. Neither did she in all honesty. She had planned on staying in for the night and just enjoy herself. But no, she allowed herself to be convinced to do something as silly as a carnival.

Plus, she got to spend time with her weird neighbor Q. He seemed to be totally helpless in her eyes, constantly asking questions when he moved in. It made her worry that the guy was able to properly provide for himself. Sometimes she ended up knocking on his door to check that he was alive and well. She just didn't want her neighbor to die okay? That was the justification behind Holly's actions. At the mention of rides, she lifted her head and looked at the tall male, furrowing her eyebrows slightly as she thought of what she wanted to do.

The girl wasn't an adrenaline junkie or anything like that so all the spinning rides seemed to be far too much for her. That and she got motion sickness quite easily. "Umm the ferris wheel maybe? I don't really like spinning rides." The woman hugged herself slightly as she shivered, feeling the cold more than anyone else in the area. She had been cold for as long as she could remember which made her life rather difficult. Winter was almost painful for how cold she felt, her friends always referring to her hands being like ice. But growing up, she had always been told that it was normal and nothing to be concerned about, so she wasn't.

It was still incredibly annoying though since it ruined days like this when she was trying to have fun, not freeze. As the pair walked through the crowd in the general direction of the lit-up ferris wheel, Holly's stepped slowed in front of a particular booth. It was smaller compared to the others and had things like jewelry for prizes. There was one necklace that stole her attention completely. It was simple, but the pendant was an orb that looked like crystal in her eyes and when the light hit it just right, it looked like it was sparkling.

The woman wasn't exactly the type to wear necklaces since she hated how cold the metal was, but she couldn't help but be drawn to it. Turning her head, she went to go and see if she could find Q, but apparently, her subconscious had caused her to grab the male's wrist to keep him from wandering away from her. Nice. "Oh sorry. I did that without even knowing." Holly pulled her hand back to her side and sighed softly, knowing that it was dumb to waste money on rigged games like that.

I've never been to a carnival before. They don't really have them where I'm from." A large smile played on the freckled features of the hero as he walked with a very pretty girl, his arm comfortably around her shoulders. He had easily said it was because he didn't want her to get lost, but really it was just an excuse to be close with her. It was his third 'date' with Elsie and honestly, a carnival seemed like the perfect date location. Of course Nico wasn't there only for the date, but he wished he was.

Running his free hand back through his hair, the male looked around the crowd, just seeing if there was anything weird going on and to look at the various booths. He wasn't someone who had the freedom to do things like carnival games so he wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do, or how to win them. "What do you want to do first Elsie? We can get food, try games or go on rides. You're probably more of an expert on these things than me so just tell me what you want to do." Nico turned his attention back to the woman with a bright smile and kind eyes. The tough thing about his assignment was the fact he really liked her.

She was kind of scary at first since the last time he had seen her was when they were kids and she was a rather terrifying child back then. But upon meeting her again, after all those years, he really liked her. Building their relationship was a bit awkward on his part because he wasn't as smooth as someone like Q. He couldn't just naturally ease into a person's life. Nico was a lot clumsier than that and had the habit of wanting to be with the person as much as possible so he could avoid using his powers to keep an eye on her. So the ginger haired boy became a regular at the cafe she worked at and managed to be in a few of her classes. It was all fine and dandy till her co-workers confronted him and he confessed that he liked the girl.

Ever since then their relationship shifted to a more romantic one. He got grilled about it by Q as soon as he talked about it, but there was nothing Nico could do. He couldn't breakup with her because that would cause him to lose contact with her and he couldn't fall head over heels for her either since that emotional attachment could pose an issue. If something ever happened to her and he allowed himself to fall that hard, he would be devastated. That was the reality of his situation as he walked with her, fear always present in the back of his mind. If that creepy FREEDOM scientist was going to attack the targets, it was possible that Nico would lose two very important people in his life.

"Umm the ferris wheel maybe? I don't really like spinning rides."

Kyuwon nodded and he began heading towards the general direction of the Ferris wheel, assuming that Holly was close behind. He'd nudged his way through the crowd, staying close to the edge where he barely had a foot between himself and all the booths to the right. That was when he felt his sleeve pull backwards and tighten slightly, causing him to turn in his tracks. He looked at his wrist before turning his attention towards Holly. The male couldn't read her expression very well, but he felt something click in his head when she briefly gazed at a necklace.

"It's fine," he replied, offering a small smile as reassurance. "Ready?" Kyuwon waited for confirmation before beginning the walk towards the ride once again. When the two finally arrived, he'd notice the line was incredibly long. They had at least a 10 minute wait, which was more than enough time for him to do what he needed to.

"Hey," Kyuwon began as they found their spot in the line. "I'm going to find a restroom real quick. Will you be okay waiting alone?"

Kyuwon then returned to crowd, his teal hair disappearing among the masses. He'd found what he needed and was able to return right before it was their turn. "Sorry I took so long. It took a few minutes for me to actually find a place."

A patient foot tapping in the sand to the beat of the music, the lyrics fighting against the sound of the crowd. Max had took a casual picture of the ferris wheel backed against a blank night sky, then a dead faced selfie peace sign in front of the ticket booth.

The carnival isn't really her scene, not that most places are honoured enough to even qualify as her scene. Max doesn't have a say in where she goes or who she hangs out with— though Noah was thankfully someone with a lot of chill.

She got his text earlier saying he arrived, intermittently looking up from her screen to scan the crowd until she spotted him, waving away in the sea of people.

Max pulled out her earbuds just as Noah approached only for him to lean in and trail off.

She blinked. Welp, that's a lot to take in. That sounded terrible. Terrible for her, terrible for that poor old lady.

"Thanks for the offer Noah, but that's probably not gonna happen." Cute edgy doll? Really? "I have a better idea."

She shoved her hands in her pockets along with her phone and led them further into the fair. Max kept her lead and walked backwards along the game street.

"How about I beat your ass-" She stopped in her tracks and gestured at the tent next to her, sweetly adding, "At some games?"

The shooting range. This'll be fun.

Noah followed, grabbing one of his backpack straps, dramatically feigning being hurt by her words. He silently thanked the heavens they had found someone like her, who he could talk with for hours even in a noisy, way too crowded festival; He knew he could forget those last two facts for a while now, at least.

He stepped in front of the booth and paid for two games, while another pair of guys were doing the same. He eyed the prizes and smiled, really not wanting to push the matter much, but he couldn't resist. "I would choose a girl over a bear any day, but to each their own."

He quickly took the table-attached plastic gun (you don't hit a man who's shooting, someone could die) and fired his rounds to the opposite, painted with marks wall. He didn't really get to do much (except nearly hitting blank on the wall instead of anything resembling a bullseye) and the giant plushies seemed to be the only prizes one could win, so he ended up empty handed. The game screamed "scam", but he had the hunch that she would actually do a lot better somehow, even if no one won anything.

He shrugged and gestured for her to take his place, taking out his phone to take a photo of the two. "The photo is free, but you owe me a dollar for the game. This is an egalitarian state, ma'am."

It had been a while since Sky had last been at a carnival. He couldn't quite remember what it was like to have fun at all. He'd been so busy keeping up with work, trying to stay on the top of his game, but with this target he must protect, for once he must put his party shoes on. It was different for him. He needed to try hard. He didn't want to look boring in front of Lance.

Lance. His heart fluttered at the word. His target, his friend, his crush. Sky denied it. He couldn't but he did. He liked his target too much. Rule No. 1, don't get attached. Sigh. He had to bury his feelings deep down.

Sky turned to Lance and gave a smile. Shooting Range. Little did Lance know how good Sky was with a gun. "Sure," he replied. "Get ready to get your ass kicked." He was a tease. Sky didn't know how good Lance would be. Maybe this kid could shoot. That would be a surprise. He was a cutie pie. That pretty face.... No. He needed to stop with these feelings. Lance was to be protected.

"Oh you're basically missing out." she gushed. "I go here a lot." Technically on a bunch of other dates that didn't go anywhere, but she's not gonna bring that up right now.

This one she couldn't mess up, this one she actually liked.

Elsie hummed and surveyed her surroundings as if she's weighing out her options, but in reality she already had a go to. She led him with a swaying saunter, huddling up and leaning into his shoulder.

Should she have brought a jacket? Probably. The beach is always one windy bitch. Rookie mistake, or an excuse.

Elsie stopped in her tracks and tapped Nico's chest, pointing to the swinging pirate ship and the screams of perfectly sensible adults. Anything but pure exhilaration is weak.

"That one." she said, looking up at his face to see the first glimpse of his reaction. Some are nervous, others are enthusiastic, but her personal favourite was terror. She grinned and pulled him into the line. "This is like, my favourite ride."

The new batch had just started so it's gonna be a quick minute until they get their turn.

"Y'know carnivals used to have freakshows," she mused, since Nico hadn't been to one of these. It reminded her of an anecdote her father likes to tell at family get togethers. "Not related, but one time my dad dropped me into a penguin enclosure as a baby —"

The smaller girl kept close to him, not wanting to get lost right before they got to the line, but in the end it didn't really matter. The line was super long and she sighed softly when she realized they would be there for a long time. Well, it wouldn't be too bad. "I'm going to find a restroom real quick. Will you be okay waiting alone?"

"Yeah, that's okay. I'll be fine, I don't think many people will try to cut in front of me." Offering a small carefree smile, the girl rubbed her hands together, just trying to warm them as soon as the guy was out of sight. She didn't really want to act cold in front of him because then he'd just feel obligated to get her something warm if he noticed that is. Holly knew that the guy would eventually since he always seemed to notice the smallest things about her which was just surprising in all honesty. He was the first guy that she was comfortable hanging out with and being around without the supervision of her other friends.

It was a nice change from the usual. Shoving her hands into her pocket, she tilted her head back to look up at the ride, finding all the lights really pretty. Sure, it was probably a romantic ride to go on, but she couldn't handle any of the other rides so this would have to do. The guy took his sweet time that was for sure. She was pretty much next in line by the time the teal-haired man decided to show up. "Oh hey." Holly greeted Q as soon as he returned to her side, explaining that he had a hard time finding a bathroom. "I told you we should've grabbed one of those maps that the old man was giving out at the entrance."

When it was finally their turn, Holly carefully got into the cabin and sat down, her body feeling a little jittery as she waited for Q to get settled and for them to start moving. Her hands nervously clutched the metal bar, careful not to move too much so the thing wouldn't swing a lot. Contrary to popular belief, Holly actually didn't do too well with heights in this particular scenario. Combined with her fear of small spaces, the woman felt like she couldn't move around if she ever needed to escape. But when did that ever happen?

"So... have you gone to any of these before? We can do other things you want to do after this. I'd feel bad if you were bored because of me." The noise of the carnival seemed to disappear as soon as the pair began their ascent to the top of the wheel. Holly felt nervous, not only from the ride but also from being completely alone with Q. She had no idea what to talk about, especially since he was on his best behavior so it wasn't like she could tease him for forgetting something in class or for looking like he was asleep during presentations. This was a new type of situation for Holly so she was unsure of how to go about it.

If he had remembered a jacket he would've given it to her but sadly he didn't bring one. Oh well. At least they had an excuse to cuddle a bit more. His attention returned immediately to Elsie when she stoped walking and pointed to a ride. The male's green eyes widened ever so slightly at the choice of ride, not really expecting that to be her first choice. "Wow. That looks pretty cool. I didn't peg you for a pirate kind of girl. Guess I should look into winning you a parrot at a booth."

He allowed himself to get dragged into line, smiling more at the fact she was so excited to go on a ride that had people screaming at the top of their lungs. Well, if it made her happy, why not. Intertwining their fingers as casually as possible, the male smiled, the woman's words making him want to laugh a bit. Sure, he had never been to a carnival before but he didn't know how he felt about there being a freakshow in the past. "That sounds pretty crazy. Would you have gone to a freakshow?" He himself had seen enough of a 'freakshow' at the labs so he really didn't want to see something like that again. But the idea of carnivals doing that was still interesting.

"Penguins? Come on, is that why you're constantly wearing summer clothes in cold weather?" He teasingly said as he pulled her a little closer so that she could get warmer. He couldn't exactly say that he knew it was a lie because Elsie didn't have those types of memories but he couldn't say that. He couldn't say 'that's not possible because your brain was wiped when you were a little kid and you were adopted by some family'. No, he'd keep that to himself. "Are you sure your dad wasn't offering you to the penguins? Maybe he owed them something."

Nico laughed as he teased Elsie, just taking advantage of the whole situation. It had been a long time since he had the freedom to spend time with someone like this and just enjoy it. He looked at his watch to check the time and sighed comfortably, his mind briefly wandering to his best friend and sister. They better not be getting all buddy-buddy like on some romantic ride. Nico had specifically set a three-foot rule for them. If his best friend hit on his sister, ew gross, the thought was enough to make Nico dramatically gag (which he often did whenever he saw the two together).

"Do you want to get food after this ride or just hit as many rides as we can till I die in a hole from them?" It was no secret that the older was a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and Nico was okay with that. He also really liked that rush and found it fun. Normally he got it from flying jets but doing normal things was enough to give him a bit of a high as well.

Lance Martins King

Buzz off, negativity!
Fill me with
smiles!

Lance's eyes widened in curiosity, was he good with guns? The British boy wanted to know how well he shot, "Really? Then, bring it on!" He proceeded to grab Sky's hand and ran with him towards the shooting range. He was giggling like a child as they dashed through the crowd, it was rare for Lance to see him smile like this.

Lance just saw Sky as a close friend. If Sky ever had feelings for Lance, the British boy would barely notice how he has a crush on him. It was a downside to being friends with Lance, he barely can pick up on social cues. He might confuse a couple on the streer for just some very close friends.

The boy had some knowledge on guns, his father used to take him on hunting trips. He'd get some ducks or any random bird flying but he didn't like the look of them aftwerwards when they're dead. Lance wasn't a sharpshooter, he was just average. He proceeded to go to the counter, the boy was amazed with what the other prizes were. He turned his head to Sky with a smile and said, "So, first one to get that large bear will command the loser to do whatever he wants. Deal?" Lance liked challenges, he would face them head on with no retreat. So, bring it on!

A soft, melodic tune was coming from Estrella as she waited in line for a funnel cake. It was nearly drowned out by all the noise pollution in the area, however. Kids were screaming at the top of their lungs, adults were chattering about, and booth runners were shouting about their money traps. She felt herself smile when she heard someone walk by mutter about how much money he wasted at the bottle toss. There was no way that would be her. She was too careful with her money.

"How many for ya today?" Came the man running the funnel cake truck. He had a deep voice with a strong southern accent. His face was worn with age though it was clear he must've been rather handsome when younger.

Estrella let out an elongated "Uhh..." as she turned between her friend and the man. "Just one, please." Though she wasn't normally the type to take such initiative, she felt pressured to order on the spot. The line for the funnel cake's was long and she didn't want to spend too much type debating on how many to get. Plus, she had eaten dinner not too long ago so she knew she couldn't have finished one by herself. Even if it was deliciously fried with powdered sugar on top--her favorite.

"Sorry, Carra!" The Hispanic female said as she held the plate for both of them to pick at. "I didn't ask if you wanted your own or not."[/div][/div]

She rolled her eyes. It'll take a lot more than that to get him of her figurative d- tail. Sky was not too far away from them with his own target in tow, she ignored them.

Max watched Noah go first, posture, focus, a grip that isn't used to holding guns— she'd find that slightly concerning. The gun isn't rigged of course and the targets are marked on walls instead of ducks, carnival games doesn't work like that. Guy's just a bad shot.

"Aw, you suck." she teased.

An attendant came forward with an apologetic smile and refilled the rubber pellet. Max took Noah's place at the station, looked up at the oncoming selfie from lining up her shot. The gun is light, it's made of plastic of course it would be.

She pretended to mull over his words just as she fiddled with the gun in her hands.

"That sounds fair, but," Max swivelled, pointing the muzzle right at his face. "I thought we were friends."

She revelled in the moment for a little- no, she won't actually shoot, obviously- her finger isn't even on the trigger. But she had missed crime fighting, the mission's been a somewhat uneventful few months and Galena is itching to get back from her hiatus.

"Ma'am, you can't do that."

Max bursted out laughing and eased her aim. "Sorry." She couldn't help but grin and turned her attention back on the game. It's not like anyone could run off with a gun tied to the stand with a string.

Three shots fired, all landing but only one hits the centre circle. It's still not quite a bullseye. "Did I win?"

The attendant checked the wall, congratulates her and reached for one of the plush purple teddy bears. She turned to Noah and hid her smugness. "I'll pay the next game." Compromise.

She'll show him, egalitarian state.

"You know, you'd be surprised." She hid her face behind her new prize, coy, "How a teddy bear could make a girl happy."

[div class=scon][div class=scrollbox]Carra would never have thought her mission would bring her to a carnival. Then again, she didn't know if she would have lasted this long undercover when she first started. The whole agency knew she hated covert missions. But following the hispanic girl next to her wasn't that hard a job... Except for actually getting a part-time job. Estrella understood the value of money, and Carra respected that. Unless she was being too stingy on something. The pair were currently standing in line for a funnel cake. The game stands had were just up ahead, and she wanted to see if she could get away with rigging a few. She knew a few of her fellow agents were also attending this family-friendly fiasco, so as long as she wasn't caught. Her prizes would just be "lucky" ones.

"Sorry Carra! I didn't know if you wanted your own or not."

"Don't worry about it. This is much more romantic." Carra laughed before she took a bite straight off the fresh pastry, not bothering about tearing off a piece. The powdered sugar now coated the corners of her lips as she let out a satisfying 'mmmmm'.

She started to walk a little forward so they weren't blocking anyone queuing for cakes, making sure Estrella was following. And after swallowing the sweet cake, she turned to her to ask, "What would you like to do now Strella? There's a few games up there, or we could go for some rides there." Carra pointed to the two options respectively and slowed down her pace. Estrella let out as small laugh as she shook her head. She hadn't initially thought of Carra as someone 'funny.' Their first impression hadn't been easy and the Hispanic female oftentimes found it difficult to realize their similarities. While Carra was strong and independent, Estrella was meek though outgoing. She felt considerably more comfortable around the taller woman now than she did before, however. If Carra were to have pulled that funnel cake-biting move and earlier in their relationship, who knew how she would've reacted.

She handed the other a napkin as she followed suit. Taking in a deep breath and slowly enjoying her night's treat, her brown eyes scanned the area. There were many rides that she wanted to go on, but she wasn't quite sure she wanted to spill her guts out just yet. After all, she just had dinner and the funnel cake would take a bit to settle.

"Bumper cars, maybe?" She looked at Carra. "I don't know if I want to do any of the games. They're rigged to get all your money." Estrella shook her head as she recalled the man that had walked by them earlier. There was no way she'd be losing more money than necessary that night.

"Or we could do the pirate ship." The brunette pointed towards the ride that was not too far from them. "The line doesn't look too bad."[/div][/div]

Kyuwon handed the ride runner his tickets before waiting for Holly to enter to passenger cabin first. It wasn't enclosed all the way like some of the bigger Ferris wheel's had. Instead of having walls up and down, there was only the sitting area and a little umbrella on top. The umbrella was the same light pink like the cabin itself, though a tad bit darker in some respects. It was like that for all the other cabins too, though they each had their own cotton candy color.

Upon sitting down, Kyuwon began to notice how small the thing actually was. He found himself pulling his legs as close as he could, fearing that he'd bleed onto Holly's personal space. The position was uncomfortable for him, but he knew she was a bit sensitive to being touched by the opposite sex. While he female never told him directly, he just picked it up after observing, and hanging out with, her over the last few months.

The cabin jolted a bit as it began it's ascension, rocking slightly due to the sudden movement. It moved slowly as the two sat their in aching silence.

"So... have you gone to any of these before? We can do other things you want to do after this. I'd feel bad if you were bored because of me."

The teal-haired man looked up and thought for a moment. Did he tell the truth? Did he tell part of the truth? Or did he straight up lie?

"No, I've never really had the time to go to something like this before." Which was the truth. Kyuwon hadn't been to a carnival since he joined WILOH and he couldn't recall if he ever went to one before he became a human guinea pig. It was all a blur for him with only some of the worst memories sticking around.

"Have you?" The male asked. As he spoke, he noticed Holly begin to shiver. Truthfully, he'd noticed beforehand that she must've been cold. That was another thing he'd picked up on her; the fact that she felt cold easily. Of course, he'd also read that in her file but he didn't really know what they meant until he saw it for himself.

Kyuwon took off his outerwear and handed it to her, ignoring the soft jingle that came from its left side pocket. "Here." He said. "It'll get colder once we're higher up."

The man was a mystery to Holly but she didn't mind it all that much. Everyone had a bit of mystery to them and she was no different. She was the adopted daughter of a government official, so naturally, she came with plenty of secrets. "Me? Mmm the last time I really came to one of these was when my mom took me. It wasn't the most effective way to do so. She didn't complain about being cold though, so Holly was rather surprised when the pale article of clothing was suddenly offered to her, Q mentioning that it would be even colder once they were at the top of the ride. "Thanks but I really don't need it. It's not that cold." There was one thing that never changed about the ginger, she was a bit of a liar. Even though she said it wasn't cold, she still put on the jacket, hiding the satisfied smile behind it as she got comfortable. The girl felt something in the pocket but she didn't know if she was allowed to look. 'Well he did lend me the jacket so it won't be a bad thing if I take a peek.'

Holly reached into the pocket and pulled out the small item, half expecting some sort of snack to be in there but she was wrong. It was the necklace she had been staring at before they got on the ferris wheel. Her cheeks heated up and she felt really flustered, not exactly used to receiving presents from guys. "You didn't get this for me, right? I mean... I never asked you to plus you shouldn't spend money on me. That's just unfair because I haven't gotten you anything." Licking her lips, she played with the pendant slightly, just looking at it as it sparkled from the various ferris wheel lights.

"Also I don't even think it fits me. I'm not usually someone who wears jewelry so it might look awful on me." In the end, she bit the bullet and put the necklace on, still too embarrassed to look at the teal-haired boy next to her. She knew he was uncomfortable just squished against his side of the cabin but she couldn't form any proper sentences in her head for a while. It was just like in the movies which made her panic even more. This wasn't a cliche confession right? 'Wait, I'm the one who picked this uber-romantic ride so doesn't it look like I'm the one who should be confessing? Oh God, what have I done?'

Her internal panic was hidden behind a composed expression once they got to the top, stopping there for a bit. She took the opportunity to say something, but silently prayed it didn't come out wrong. "You don't have to squish yourself against the wall of this thing. You can sit normally, I don't mind. Just don't get cocky and touch me a bunch." Her voice was slightly teasing at the end as she looked at him, only to turn away and try to see the stars. "Thank you for the necklace by the way. I really appreciate it. It's super pretty."

[div class=scon][div class=scrollbox]Carra's lips pulled into a big smile at the mention of bumper cars. "I knew I came along with you for a reason," Carra cheekily said. Even if she didn't come with Estrella, she'd still have to follow her. She was glad Strella wasn't like spoiled girls, or those that didn't enjoy some thrill in their life. Carra looked more and more excited at her suggestions, she wanted to ride as many as she could. She's never had an opportunity to visit places like these after all, but she also can't afford to let her guard down entirely.

Hearing Estrella's reluctance to play some carnival games, Carra nudged her a little with her elbow. "Aw come on! We gotta try and enjoy all of it. We can ride some bumper cars first and we can try some darts or something. My treat!" She wasn't one for asking permission for everything, or if her friend would mind. Carra didn't think much of it anyway since she merely decided what they would be doing first from the options Estrella gave.

Following the buzz and zings of the bumper car area, they made it to the queue and was just letting the next group of riders in. The ride operator just so happened to put a hand out in front of the pair, "Going to stop you there. Wait for the next round, alright ladies?" The older man gave them a toothy grin beneath his scruffy beard.

Carra looked at cars with glee, usually when she did that with real cars, they don't stay the same shape. Her smile soon dimmed a little as the riders were roughly bumping into each other. While they had silly grins and giggles, their whole bodies shook upon impact. She looked at the girl that had permanent backaches and asked in a low voice, "You sure you're going to be ok with that? “I don’t talk to a lot of people.” Replied the man to Holly’s statement about him being a certain type of guy. He only shook his head at the remark though since that was far from the truth.

“It’s fine. Take it. I was feeling hot anyways.” Which was somewhat of the truth. Kyuwon’s ability allowed him to stay warm. By absorbing photons, he could keep his outer body at a comfortable temperature. This applied to other objects and people too if he wanted.

He watched as Holly explored the left pocket of his jacket, reaching out the necklace he’d won from earlier. The entire “restroom being too long” thing had been an act and he knew she probably caught on to that right then. The male had really gone to the small jewelry booth to win the necklace, much to every onlooker’s surprise. They were amazed at how easily Kyuwon won.

Kyuwon didn’t say anything when Holly commented about not looking good in it. He only kept his eyes on her, a part of him fighting to raise an eyebrow. Though he’d never say it out loud, he knew her comment was a lie. Holly pulled off a lot of the things she wore.

“Just think of it as a gift for helping me out all those times when I first moved in.”

With the strawberry-haired woman’s permission, Kyuwon stretched his legs out a bit. A feeling of immense satisfaction filled his body as each of his muscles loosened up. He could even feel his face relax slightly.

“Thanks,” he replied quietly, crossing his arms over his chest lazily as he leaned back somewhat. “And I won’t.” Kyuwon’s lips twitched as they threatened to curl up, something almost foreign to him. He hardly ever smiled genuinely and it was usually only around Nico or Max.

“There’s no need to thank me. I got it for you because I wanted to.”

When they got to the bumper car line, Estrella quite literally felt her back ache. She watched as the kids and adults steered wildly, hitting each other with their rubber cars and bouncing back. There was laughter, screaming, and a feeling of immense pain. The dark brunette couldn't help but arch her back backwards a bit as she tried to ease the discomfort, but it was to no avail. It still hurt and watching the people driving the bumper cars seemed to trigger the sensation even more.

"You sure you're going to be ok with that? We can do something else if you want." Came Carra in a low voice.

Estrella turned to her with a small smile as she nodded her head. "I think I'll be fine," she replied, but she understood why her friend asked her that. Ever since she could remember, she'd always had chronic back pains. The pain would disappear for moments at a time only to flair up randomly. Even when her back didn't hurt, it still felt strange--like something was constantly missing and she was constantly exposed. That was why she wore a backpack whenever she was out in public. It acted like a shield.

It was finally their turn before long. Estrella hurried to a vacant bumper car, placing her bag in the passenger sided as she pressed her back against the cool, leather seat. Her lips curled upwards as she watched everyone else board, keeping a cautious eye on Carra. Carra was a bumper car target that night.[/div][/div]

Noah stepped back as if shot (which, considering he had a rubber gun in his temple a minute ago, he found extremely funny) and let out the fakest uuuuurgh sound of all time. Because if everything, she was right in one thing: He still hadn't achieved the great feat of winning a teddy bear for a girl or, to be exact, have a girl stay long enough for that to be a possibility in the first place. As much as he would like to say the opposite, he wasn't really looking for anyone at the moment, especially since last year's fiasco...

The comment still hurted, though.

"Ouch, shots fired. How can you do this to me and smile, you psycho?" He straightened up and looked around, before deciding to walk to where he assumed was north from there, as if he knew where he was going, making sure to not lose Max on the crowd. Path set, he cleared his throat before continuing. "Quoting Aaron Burr, I'm a terrible shot, but if we can find any maquinitas in this goddamed place, I'm going to stuffle you up with so many ticket-won plushies you'll physically need to gift them to somebody, cute edge or not. Heed my words."

A kid appeared out of nowhere and screamed bloody hell, nearly making Noah's heart jump out of his throat. He winced, gripped a strap of his backpack and kept walking forwards. Hopefully, an arcade place would be less full of screams and shouts, and more of synthesized beats and cheesy game rhythms.

*Maquinitas: Arcade Machines. I couldn't find the word while writting this and decided to leave it unchanged.
