Fantasy [Closed] WARNING: LOTS OF READING AHEAD

WANTED

ROLE-PLAY PARTNER

What I'll need from you my fellow RPnation users because I'm actually rather fickle, I'm sorry to say, and I've tried with many different people to do many different things so I've grown to have some preferences, of course. I don't like to think of myself as picky, but from here out there will be some lengthy reading. And not just for this section. More to come if you PM me. Ye 'ave been warned.

 1. Giving me a heads up if you aren't going to respond for a while would be appreciated, but, I'm guilty of not giving a heads up because I forget or I have a crippling spell of depression or real life gets in the way so it'd be hypocritical of me to say it's necessary. I'm patient, but since I often dedicate myself to one or two role-plays I've invested myself in and inspire me the most I'll get my hopes up around the time you usually respond and be awfully disappointed if I don't receive something that day, or the next, or the next without any explanation. If we really hit it off, it'll be something I look forward to and even count on. Please don't just leave me here like a wife while her husband's off to war, waiting, wondering, contemplating whether or not I'm being cheated on or the role-play has died. Did I do something wrong? HAVE YOU LOST INTEREST? PLEASE. SPEAK TO ME MY LOVE.
 2. Basic RP Etiquette. Vague, I know, but if you don't know basic RP etiquette yet I'm not  going to teach you. Use google. Read a forum. Look for terms like no god modding, no Mary Sues, don't kill off my character, READ MY WHOLE RESPONSE PLEASE and you'll be on the right track.

 3. High literacy because quality syntax and word choice is the new sexy. More than 3+ sentences because I understand some things like dialogue and fast paced action that requires input from both of us shouldn't be bogged down by paragraphs of waxing description about hair and clothes or the character's inner musings just to pad a response. But, if you don't give me enough to work with I'll get annoyed fast and it'll feel like you don't care. I don't want to waste my time with something the other person doesn't care about, and you probably don't want to keep sending pity responses. Don't lead me on and string me out!

 4. But on another note: detail, detail, detail. I don't really care what color jewel your character's eyes are. I want to know if they're red from not getting enough sleep. I want to know if they're wearing eyeliner. If you can't make the detail tell me about them as a person too then you might want to rethink making me wade through all this knowledge that only gives me a 2D perspective... Which is harsh, and I'm absolutely guilty of being lazy or unimaginative too, but I'm going to hold you to the same standard I hold myself pal and writing is like... my life. Write something you and I would want to read, not something you just like to write. Show don't tell. Use all the senses. Use metaphors and similes that make sense given the character and the time. Ya feel me? Great. Now get your hands off me.

 5. Besides the RPnation guidelines on what's appropriate I like to know about the other person's boundaries. If they have triggers, or even if there's just character's they cannot stand and wouldn't be able to get into a RP with. Takes two to tango and I don't want to be hauling this thing alone. This isn't supposed to be work! Sure, there is a little work involved, but it's no fun if I'm coming up with everything and running this thing by myself. I don't even need a partner if that's how its going to be; that's just writing a book, I can already do that alone. So give me a heads up so I know what your policies are and how to keep you interested/invested/inspired too, yeah?

 6. Be a decent human being and polite/respectful and I will too. Actually I'll probably still be polite and respectful even if you are the human equivalent of a food encrusted trash can full of vomit, but, I honestly just don't want to waste the energy to be pissed off so if you'd just save me the trouble altogether by playing nice that would be great.

 7. Keep an open dialogue if you have questions, comments, concerns. But... I'm just not a really social person. So don't get offended if I respond to the RP, but I don't respond to you personally for a while. I'm sure I like you very much, I just... don't have anything to say... or I'm busy... or I'm moody and just wanted to unwind and write to you in role-play format.

 8. So for those of you that have stuck with me thus far! Congrats! All of the above are more like guidelines than actual rules. If you don't feel up to par to my writing standard, that's okay! Don't worry. If you think I'm a stuck up writing elitist with no grasp of variety in the pool of writers on RPnation, that's okay! Don't worry. I'm just telling you what will keep me responding. I've had partners that weren't perfect to my specifications here that lasted in RPs with me for years. Then I've had people that fit almost exactly who made me consider lobotomy by a soup spoon. I understand. Really, I do. So don't be afraid to give it a shot with me! Just don't take it personally if I can't get hooked for some reason and end it. It's probably not your fault, or your writing even though so far might suggest as much. And even if it is something with you, that's on me. Kay?

ROLE-PLAY

So I have an idea for a massively long RP that will require from whomever decides to rise to the occasion world building, character development, and the confidence to be both a friend, a rival, and an enemy out to rip my heart out and stomp on it. Ya feel me? Awesome. Now stop. What is it with you and touching people?

So here's the premise: aliens VS monsters. Oh, hush, I'm just kidding. Relax. Or, it's more complicated than that. This is set in a world in a very, very distant future. Apocalypses have already come and gone, earth has been changed forever with ruins marring the landscape, and in order to survive them the human race chose three different paths now. One, they fled to space in large colonies. Two, they sought the help of the supernatural. And three, they stuck it out with the use of technology and science. Millions of years later these three different groups have adapted differently and become their own races/species that nobody remembers actually being derived from the original human race and they are of course disputes over who should inherit the earth and why.

Those who stuck it out still call themselves humans, and their majority don't think aliens or their supernatural neighbors should be around unless to provide fodder as experiments for their gain in the search for new energies to power their technology. Those that left have become wanderers of the stars, but they need earth's resources still to survive. They've developed their own culture, traditions, belief system and even appearances/abilities that set them apart from their counterparts. Which would be the "monsters" in this scenario. Gods, werewolves, vampires, witches, dragons, literally anything from any culture that's supernatural and we/you can make sense of. They too have their own culture, traditions, belief systems and appearances/abilities that set them apart from their counterparts. They of course don't think their human neighbors should have sole rule over the earth since technically they've always been here too.

Where monsters’ vs aliens come in is that humankind will only share so much, and being the strongest and most organized of the three, leave the other two to fight over scraps of resources to survive. And because the cultures of the two are vastly opposites/they've been warring for so long they don't even recognize the other has a real culture, they continue mindless killing and bolster the humans forever to the top of the hierarchy by fighting amongst each other. Neither recalls what originally started it, but now the war keeps on because both sides are avenging too many losses to be avenged. Both sides have instilled a terror in their children with wild stories, so generations and generations have lost the truth about their opponent in lore that's completely blown out of proportion or just plain wrong. Misunderstanding breeds further ignorance, ignorance breeds fear, fear breeds hatred, hatred breeds bloodshed, and the vicious cycle never ends.

That is until two leaders, one from each side, decide that the fighting must end by any means necessary. They would give anything, everything for their respective people and resources shouldn't have to be fought for when humankind has so much that it even goes to waste. If they could just unite they would have the strength to protect themselves from human poachers and claim what they have a right to as their home. They don't trust, or even know the other, and despite all the customs they may hold dear among their own people, they decide to marry. Tie the key families, whether royal or something else, in order to lead by example to their people to let go of the past, their differences, and be the other's strength.

Easier said than done. Cultural boundaries, generations upon generations of conditioning leaves both of these leaders almost incapable of understanding let alone trusting the other, but if they show weakness in front of their people and fall apart, then peace will be lost and the future even more bleak than their past.

Yes, this does span across three messages. No, there will not be a fourth. Just thought I should say this is LGBTQ+ and diversity friendly\encouraged and to PM me to discuss roles and where we'd like to start with this. I've got some ideas where it'll go and I'd like it if you came to the table with some of your own that you're not going to tell me so I can be surprised and incredibly happy when I don't have to always instigate things in the RP whether good or bad. Seriously. Don't worry about stepping on my toes. If you've got an idea that you REALLY like and it's possible given what's going on just lemme know and we can run with it. This will be bittersweet, action packed, and have adventure so don't worry about romance being the focus just because of the set up. And last but not least, hopefully we can play with some really profound or controversial topics. Really itching for some meaning and theme in a roleplay.

Well have I just found a partner I've been looking for all these years? You and your idea sure do at least give me the vibe of wanting to put your idea to reality, that is of course if you're not clogged up with too many suitors and messages.

I think I have a few... twists, that could be added to the story itself, I'd put more of an introduction of myself and my writing in a PM, if you're fine with that.

Me too but if I'm late I getcha. :'D

Also @ soup spoon lobotomy: saME. also I'm using that.

Nope! Go ahead and PM me with whether or not you want monsters, aliens, or hell... if you want to change it up a bit and take humans I'd even roll with that.

Pfft--Go ahead. Spread the word! Soup spoon lobotomy for all!

Glad you're interested and have something to bring to the table~ Closing the topic after you two to keep things under control, so you just made the cut!

Same as I said to the other one, m'dear. Not the lobotomy part. But. The PM thing. Unless you want a lobotomy by a soup spoon; to which I would then have to say I'm concerned, and not a licensed practitioner, but each to their own I guess.
