“So, will you help me?”
Staring into the pleading eyes of Eve Wicker, Jin-Ae saw no signs of deception or manipulation. Evelyn’s red haired, red-eyed daughter seemed to be the guide’s opposite in every way. While Evelyn was an oddball Irregular and a ‘special’ guide that FUG wanted, his daughter seemed perfectly normal. A skilled D-rank scout, good with using observers and weapons, but not particularly out of the ordinary. You’d think that Irregular blood would give her great strength or lazer beams shooting out of her eyes like all of Zahard’s ‘children’, but no.
Eve Wicker looked to be a normal girl.
One that even seemed to be struggling to get a Hell Train ticket.
Was that why Evelyn sent her to find his daughter as soon as she became a D-ranked Regular? Parental affection? Jin-Ae had no idea what Evelyn was thinking. The guide was whimsical. Did what he wanted. His methods made no sense half the time such that Jin-Ae often wondered if his mind was so far beyond her comprehension that she just didn’t get it or he was bullshitting her. And yet, it was thanks to Evelyn that Jin-Ae had managed to climb 31 floors in only 10 years. Therefore, Jin-Ae trusted the guide that Shinyoo introduced her to. Until proven otherwise, it wasn’t really her nature to doubt others.
She nodded and grinned. “Of course. Just find your boyfriend, right? No problem.”
“Thank you!” Jin-Ae blinked, catching the other girl as she was suddenly attacked by a hug. “You’re so much more reliable than that dumb idiot ever was!”
“You’re welcome…”
“Word of advice between us girls. When choosing a guy, don’t just fall for good looks. Make sure you pick someone who’ll treat you like a treasure so you don’t end up like me.”
“Marriage isn’t in my future, but I’ll keep that in mind.”
“No guy good enough?”
“More like I’m not good enough.” No one would want to partner with someone whose bloodline was cursed. The only way she’d find someone was if she lied about it, like many of the other Hendo Lok descendants, but Jin-Ae refused to do so. It wasn’t fair to the other party and it wasn’t fair to her. Besides, Do-won, the only one that didn’t care about her bloodline, was dead.
“Whaaaaaat? Wha’chu talkin’ about? You’re totally cute~” Eve prodded Jin-Ae’s cheek making her blush. “If that sleepyhead wasn’t so utterly helpless without me, I’d pick you without a doubt!”
“U-uh, thanks…”
Eve giggled. “I know! You help me find my bf and I’ll help you find your future one,”
“I really don’t—,”
“What type of guys do you like, Jin-Ae?” Jin-Ae barely got a word in before Eve was already tugging her along and pointing out all the ‘good-looking’ boys in floor 31’s inner tower she saw. Mostly Regulars given their location. They were settled on the porch in front of an apartment building when dark-skinned girl leaned over to whisper in Jin-Ae’s ear. “See that black haired one? He’s got a rabbit on his head. That means he’s the sweet type who loves animals. What do you think?”
cojemo Azure Sky
At this point, Jin-Ae’s face was flushed red as she pushed Eve’s arm down. “Please stop pointing, Eve. It’s rude.” She was at a loss at how to handle Evelyn’s daughter. “Why don’t we do something else instead?”
“Like what?”
Jin-Ae had no idea. However, anything was better than what they were currently doing. “…a shooting competition?”
She smiled innocently as Eve gave her an odd look. FUG trained her in the art of warfare. She’d spent most of her short life around fighters. Therefore it wasn’t as if she knew what other ordinary girls liked. “Or how about a game of basketball? One vs one, first to 15 points. If you win, I’ll tell you about a boy I liked once.”
“Okay~”
Jin-Ae didn't intend to lose.
