Michelle tossed and turned. She had been trying to go back to sleep for the last fifteen minutes, but she was unable to fall back asleep. She sighed to herself as she thought about the news they received today. There are possible slayers in the nearby town. The possibility of slayers being so close is so scary and dangerous that her family didn’t even go hunting animals tonight. They wanted to leave as little traces as possible about their existence here.
Suddenly, Michelle heard noises downstairs. She shot up straight, trying to discern what the sounds were. There was muffled shouting and lots of things banging around. She quickly got out of bed and went to her bedroom door. She stopped before opening it because the sounds downstairs had stopped. She listened intently.
A pair of running feet passed Michelle’s door and went down the stairs, seeming to stop at the bottom. “Mom! Dad!” She heard her brother screaming. There were hurried footsteps returning back up the stairs. Suddenly she was pushed back as her door opened. She fell backwards and landed with a thump as she heard her door slam shut and the lock turn.
Michelle looked up to see who had come into her room. It was her brother, Alexander. He had a frightened look on his face. “We have to go.” He whispered as loud as he dared. He grabbed Michelle’s hand and helped her up, scrambling over to the window. He let go of her hand and unlatched the window lock. Alexander lifted up the window and put one foot out the window, placing it somewhat unsteadily on the slanted roof of the back porch.
“Come on.” He whispered as he held his hand out. Michelle froze for a second, still trying to process what was going on. She heard footsteps rushing up the stairs and her brain told her to move. She hastily grabbed her backpack from in front of her nightstand and put it on her back. She unplugged her phone from its charging cord and put it in her pocket. As she took her brother’s hand and put a foot outside the window, there was banging on her bedroom door.
The banging sound was intimidating. It was loud and hard enough that you could tell they were trying to break down the door. This instilled an ever growing sense of urgency in Michelle and Alexander. The two siblings looked at each other. “I love you.” They said to each other, in case this was the last time they saw each other.
With that the siblings climbed out the window and made their way slowly to the edge of the slanted roof. The distance to the ground was at least 6 feet, which wasn’t the biggest fall they’ve taken before, but under the circumstances the fall could be dangerous. They didn’t have time to think about the consequences or another route of action as the sound of splintering wood came from the window then the door slammed open, hitting the bedroom wall.
The siblings jumped, landing just as their parents had taught them to do. Voices from above rang out. “They’ve escaped! Go, go, go!” The siblings started to run, not sure where they were going at first. They just ran forward. They would have to make it out of the wooded area that surrounded their house. Once they did that then they would be on the neighborhood street. Maybe from there they could run to a populated area.
They were lucky these slayers weren’t as prepared as they normally were. It was almost as if this was a rush job or a spur of the moment decision. If the slayers were fully prepared, they would have had people in the backyard waiting for any runners.
It felt like ages before they reached the street, but in reality it was only five minutes. The siblings could hear shouting voices, people running, and possibly a couple dogs barking in the distance. They looked right down the street then left, unsure which way to go. They decided to go right.
When they reached the end of the street, Michelle turned her head back in the direction her house would be. She could see smoke starting to ride above the trees. “No!” She screamed, coming to a halt, tears welling up in her eyes. Alexander had to turn around and pull on his sister to get her moving again. “We can’t waste time.” He said.
Alexander tugged his sister the next few feet before she came around. She followed him to the train station. The siblings looked out of place. They were the only people in their pajamas and slip on house shoes with the rubber on the bottom.
Alexander took out his wallet and bought two train tickets to a town an hour away. He wasn’t sure where they were going to live or what they were going to do, but they could decide that when they got to the new town. For now, they just needed to get out of town.
Michelle squeezed Alexander’s arm, trying to reassure him. He gave her a half hug in return as they waited for their train to pull up. Luckily the train station wasn’t too crowded at this time of night. It would have been harder to restrain themselves, especially after what they just experienced.
The programming on the TV in the background was interrupted with breaking news. The oldest house in the town is currently on fire and there was fear the fire would spread to the surrounding woods if the firefighters were unable to take care of it in time. There was also worry about the family of four who owned the house. There was no word on them yet as firefighters have just arrived at the scene.
The train pulled up and the siblings got on. They picked seats next to the doors, so they’d be able to get off relatively quickly. Four more people got on the train, sitting scattered about through the train compartment.
There were TVs on each end of the train and two in the middle, one on each side so you could see it no matter where you sat. It was tuned to the same channel as the one before. Michelle and Alexander were trying to tune out the news broadcast. They had just barely escaped and didn’t want reminders.
“Two bodies found so far.” The TV reporter said with sadness in his voice. “Firefighters are still searching the house as the fire is actively being put out.”
(Michelle and Alexander are vampires, their parents were killed by slayers. Your character can be human, or even possibly a slayer if you want, but the slayer can’t immediately know they are vampires since they were not there at the house. This RP is pretty open plot wise. I don’t have more plans right now than just getting them to the next town for a change of clothes and a meal. Romance is a part of the plan at some point in the thread.)
(I can double with this thread, a female character of yours could romance the brother. I can also do fxf if that is what you prefer. If you have any questions or want to plan out the roleplay some more, you can message me. You can also message me for a repost!)
