[Closed] Looking to do an RP set in the 1940s

As the title says, I’m looking to do something set in the 1940s along the lines of film noir (like ‘Double Indemnity’ or ‘Maltese Falcon’) or post war spies (‘Agent Carter’ comes to mind, but it doesn’t have to be fandom). I’m open to other ideas if you got them. Having minor fantasy elements shouldn’t be a problem; however, I think anything supernatural would take it out of the time period.


A little about me and what I’m looking for:


- I’ve got a couple story and character ideas but not enough to start. I expect to have to flesh out the plot and characters a little bit before starting.


- I can do male or female characters, but I’m better at male characters. I almost always refine my characters by role playing them a bit, so I tend to go light on character sheets, if at all, and prefer flashbacks and background stories as a means of developing my characters. I can do multiple characters if need be.


- My posts tend to be two or three paragraphs, but sometimes I run as short as one paragraph or as long as half a page. I care more about giving the other person something to work with than the length of the post. I usually average around one post per day. Sometimes I may miss a day or two because of life, but I understand that the RP starts getting stale after that.


- I like romance if it works as part of story or character development, but I’m not about romance for the sake of romance. If there is a romance, the person has to be at least 18 years old for my own comfort.

I was looking to do one of two stories:


- a cynical private detective gets a potential client with a case that seems kind of fishy, but the detective takes the case on anyway because the detective can't seem to say 'no' to the client. I'm thinking the client got in over their head with something like organized crime, and the case is more challenging than the client implies when they first visit the private detective


- secret agent x double agent right after World War II. The double agent wants to get a hold of information about the atomic bomb and pass it along to the soviet union. The secret agent and double agent work together, but the secret agent doesn't know that the double agent has turned. The double agent is either trying to turn the other agent or set them up as the fall person.


Those were the ideas that I had. I think either needs to be fleshed out a little bit because I don't think they are enough to start an RP.

I wont mind doing something like this, secret agent and all that. I also recommend the works of John Le Carre if you havent already, he normally rides about this sort of stories.

I appreciate the interest. I was trying to start something more 'film noir', but I think I need to refine my story idea more before I present it. I'm going to close this for now.
