Thu-Thump.....Thu-Thump.....Thu-Thump! The powerful heart punched against the grey fur, sending adrenaline coursing through the steady veins in the beast's body. Silence showered the forest; the hunter daring not to utter a noise, not even a loud breath escaped its moist, dogged nose. Within view, out in the open, a minor pack of four wolves patiently sniffed out for some food. Occasionally, the Alpha of the group would pause its steps to search around the area, but it seemed less concerned about what was to come for them. Hidden behind a heavily leafed bush, yellow, concentrated eyes carefully watched its prey, awaiting the precious moment to strike.
Thu-Thump...Thu-Thump...Thu-Thump!
The muscle continued its beats, pumping more adrenaline, as the smaller wolf ventured off away from the busing pack to search another area. Big mistake. The predator's eyes glared at the oblivious animal. The God knew this wolf familiarized himself with who this brethren may be, but He made sure to push all memories in the back of the mind, where they are long forgotten. The possessed wolf was completely under His control for His doings.
Thu-Thump. Thu-Thump. Thu-Thump.
When the other wolves seemed to head toward the opposite direction from this smaller wolf, the predator knew it was time. With blinding speed, the wolf leaped out from the bushes and charged toward its prey. The wolf can merely raise its head in delayed awareness before the bigger wolf tackled it down to the ground on its back and immediately bit down hard into the front of the neck. With no hesitation, the predator ripped the flesh from the neck before the prey can utter a cry for assistance and the struggling body was instantly still on top of its pouring blood. The victorious wolf began to chaw down on the piece of meat that it ripped out before munching on the rest of the body.
However, before it finished eating the stomach area, the God, Ithas, removed his control from the wolf and watched the next scene of this movie unfold before his eyes, as he sat comfortably on the branch of a tree above the scene. The freed wolf paused its previous indulgence to quickly fathom what had happened. It glanced around frantically before sniffing the dead wolf below it. It was either the scent or the face that made the larger wolf realize it was its own ally that it killed rather than an enemy. But before it could escape the situation without punishment, growls were heard behind it and the other three wolves were standing there, viciously growling and baring their teeth at their previous ally. Now, they seek vengeance, which is what Ithas strives for. In a flash, the three wolves began to chase down and brutally murder their friend, punishing the wolf for the actions that only the God controlled and not the poor dog.
"I guess that wolf got what it bargained for," Ithas laughed loudly from the tree, filling the air with a chilling atmosphere before pushing himself off the tree and landing on the ground. "I can never get exhausted with simply controlling a wolf to kill its most favorable ally. It's simply delicious to watch! I should do a human next." The laughter continued into chuckles, as he instantly changed into his full, wolf form. His body was more massive than the other typical wolf. The God stands almost taller than the trees, but thankfully he does not reach higher. Any higher and a human could spot him a mile away. Ithas began to trot along the forest far from the most nearby cities. This was his favorite area to be in because humans barely traveled here due to the wolves and other natural dangers this forest possesses. Good, keep the humans where they belong. They do not need any more land than what their acquired anyway.
Suddenly, Ithas's footsteps came to a cautious halt, as he rapidly turned to an innocent looking rose beside him. There was something about how this rose smelled.... something about its aura that doesn't seem right, but the God cannot put his finger on it. He head leaned closer to the plant, sniffing it to obtain any clues as to why this flower was giving him such a terrible feeling within the pit of his stomach. Nothing.... It simply smells of a regular flower. Sighing disappointingly, a tentacle that was previously swaying on Ithas's head moved toward the plant and simply poked the flower. From that touch, flames and electricity began to engulf the rose until it was nothing more than ashes. "Nature's a waste anyway," the God coldly commented before moving along his way. His childhood friend was once very passionate about nature though..... His mind clamped shut, as all memories in his previous life, his childhood life, faded away. No one speaks of those days. No one must think of those days.....
All was still. The only sounds that could be heard was the gentle beat of the butterflies wing. The only sights that could be seen was fields upon fields of blood red roses. The Goddess of Peace and Creation felt right at home, which, in a way, she was. The whole world was her playground. She could go wherever she wished, do whatever she wanted, create whatever was needed.
But life isn't that easy. As Rose watched the red butterfly glide through the endless rose fields, she knew that the poor thing was close to death. Butterflies like this one should only live for 10 days at the most, yet this one has lived longer. You see, Rose has been in control of it, keeping it alive, just so it can live long enough to see the beauty of the planet, and the feed off the flowers in which it is doing now.
Just a sip of the nectar from these particular roses would bring good luck. As the butterfly would die after laying her eggs, the good luck will go down to her children. Rose did this alot. It showed the other Gods and Goddesses that life is short, but your ambitions can carry on after death. Most Gods understood this, apart from Ithas, the God of Chaos and Destruction, Rose's rival. He killed for fun, whilst Rose killed for everlasting peace.
The butterfly had almost done its job. Rose slowly walked over to the butterfly, which was sat on a rose by the forest. 4 minuscule white eggs were on top of the rose, glistening in the sunlight. One more ought to do it, Rose thought. She knew that too many eggs would bring bad luck, which would overthrow the good luck. And so as the last egg was laid, Rose stepped back and muttered an incarnation that would finish the job.
Rose let go of the butterflies life, and the butterfly slowly fell to the ground and withered away. The rose started to shine with power. Rose gasped. "The eggs... They are not normal! There is too much power!" she exclaimed. "What have I done?..." She realised that the eggs could not stay together. With a wave of her hand, the eggs flew away to different plants, leaving just the one on the original flower. On each of the flowers, a single sapphire appeared, making the work of the Goddess.
Just as Rose began to walk away, she sensed a being approaching the flower. Curious to see what the being would do, she quickly climbed up a nearby tree and watched the scene unfold. Strangely, the flowers around that flower turned into trees and connected to the forest, leaving that as the only one around. Rose was confused by this, but didn't ask the spirits of the Earth to answer the question. Instead, she looked back at the flower, and saw the one God she didn't want to see. Ithas.
He was looking at the flower in confusion, as if he could sense something wasn't right. Rose's eyes widened in horror as the flower burst into flames. Why? Because that good-for-nothing tentacle had touched it. Rose sighed as Ithas began to walk away, leaving the flower to die and the egg to be destroyed. She jumped of the tree and walked up behind Ithas, not afraid of what was to come.
"Still see joy in watching things die?" Rose suddenly asked Ithas. She should've been afraid, as this could lead to an intense battle, but she wasn't scared. No, she was used to this.
Halting his calm steps, Ithas sighed heavily, knowing that voice all too well. Speaking of the devil.... "Hm?" the God turned to the familiar goddess with a slightly noticeable smirk through his furry muzzle. "And do you still enjoy creating useless plants and materials?" His yellow eyes glanced at the other roses located behind Rosemary. Of course she would pick such a plant to create; that is, if she did create these ugly flowers in the first place. His tentacles were moved more cautious, indicating how careful he was feeling with her. She doesn't seem to fear him. Was he not a fearsome god? How disappointing...
For a brief second, Ithas wondered why she revealed herself to him rather than hiding out and continuing her life until his actions came to mind. "Did I offend the fairy by burning her flower?" he asked, the smirk never leaving his lips. Approaching a nearby rose without getting too close to Rosemary, his tentacle gradually moved down and lightly touched the plant. Submitting to the same fate as the previous flower, it was engulfed in a burning flame and was rapidly consumed in ashes. Poor thing. "Oops." A mischievous chuckle escaped his lips; however, it was more rough due to his form.
However, deep, deep down within the pits of his stomach, guilt fluttered and chilled his spine. Why? They have to fight, right? That's how things are nowadays. There is no such thing as peace within the gods unless allies are formed. Ithas and the Goddess of Shadows are allies, but no one else. There isn't enough trust in his body to make him want to befriend other gods, but he did know Rosemary since they were children. Those were the days..... There weren't any fighting then.
Shaking off this ridiculous feelings, fire traveled from his neck, as he launches a beam of flames toward Rosemary. His entire mind went blank, keeping any regrets from surfacing his merciful thoughts. Why must he feel remorse for attacking an enemy of his. They were supposed to be enemies anyway since they are the exact opposite and opposites never attract.... right? "Run, or face my wrath, Rose. You know I will not hold back!" Ithas growled, keeping his distance and witnessing his attack unfold.
Rose sighed at Ithas' comment. "Are saying my plants are useless, when al you do is make animals kill their own kind? Perhaps you didn't realise, but all you are creating is cannabols," she replied, smirking. It might not have been the best comeback, but it wasn't bad, at least by her standards. Rose watched his tentacles moving behind him, and she predicted that he was about to burn another flower. She didn't try to stop him - she wouldn't be able to.
"And, for your information, I didn't create them flowers, I was simply - how do I put it? - adding a little power to them," she explained, walking forwards. She stopped, and turned to look at Ithas. He said something about a fairy, and Rose rolled her eyes. Of course he would say something like that! What else would he say? However,, he couldn't be more wrong.
Although she knew exactly what was happening, Rosemary didn't look at Ithas destroying yet another flower. She closed her eyes, and willed for the egg perched on top to move to the next rose, in which it did. Ah, magic. Well, at least Rose had learnt from her mistakes - don't let the eggs stay on the flower whilst they are being burnt. For one, it makes the other eggs lose their power, and makes the the flowers lose abut of magic.
As Ithas attacked her, Rose didn't move - she let the flames engulf her. Still, she didn't go without protection. Inside, she called upon the water to shield her, in which it did. She had never known why, but water seemed to come upon her call for nature. It might have been because she was calm like the water, or maybe the creatures of the water let it come to her.
After the flames died down, the Goddesses looked her rival in the eye and spoke. "None of us are ever going to win this battle between gods! Don't to get it?" Before she could say more, she jumped up onto a branch and brought out her bow. "We are Gods and Goddesses, immortals!" she continued. "They only way to die is to be forgotten." She shot an arrow at Ithas and watched carefully how he reacted.
