Chiaroscuro has survived these past centuries by playing its enemies off one another.
They play the sheep to the wolves, when in reality, they are nothing but a white fox.
However, everything is not right with the City of Glass.
Forces move against it that mere mortals have no business and no chance of defending against.
As this Age of Sorrows continues unabated, will you let your city burn, or will your rise up and defend it?
Thus begins our tale.
Quick Rules:
- Use Dynast rules for creating Dragon-Blooded, unless you really want to be from Lookshy or be an outcaste and don't want to use Dynast rules, then talk to me.
- Your character should have Exalted somewhere around 20-25 years ago, so 250 Experience to start with, plus additional experience as laid out below.
- For every dot of Essence above 1, characters receive a free instance of Ox-Body Technique which does not count towards total charms Ox-Body Charms, so you may buy it normally with Exp or starting charms.
- All characters receive two extra charms from Archery, Dodge, Melee, Resistance, or War, as well as two extra charms from Bureaucracy, Integrity, Perform, Presence, or Socialize. These charms must be purchased before using Experience, but after starting Charms are chosen. They also must have no prerequisites, meaning they can only be used on excellencies and starting charms.
- Every dot of Craft gives you a separate craft ability. So 2 dots craft allows you to do both wood and water crafting at 2 dots each.
- Traits are allowed with ST approval, and Flaws are allowed (with ST approval) as long as you only use them to buy Traits. You can only buy them at character creation (and with bonus points).
- Everyone gets 5 free dots in any combination of Connections, Reputation, Resources, Sifu and Mentor (all of which must be positively associated with Chiaroscuro in some way) to represent your connection to the city.
- Backgrounds cost 2 Exp after character creation.
Character Creation Bonuses:
- A single paragraph (or a long, poorly written page) will most likely earn you my ire and dislike. As well as no experience.
- A bullet point background will earn you no extra experience, but I won't hold anything against you for it.
- A decent sized background (minimum one page of average material) with minimum information will earn you 5 experience.
- A decent sized background with the addition of several other anecdotes about your character's previous adventurers will earn you 8 experience.
- A good sized background (two + pages) with good writing and interesting stories will earn you 12 experience.
- Three pages of good writing and numerous plot hooks will earn you a maximum of 16 experience.
- Further short fictions about the character above and beyond the game will earn you 1-3 experience per story, as well as the chance for additional backgrounds.
- A theme-song will earn you 2 experience.
- A decent character portrait will earn you 5 experience.
- Additional character portraits will earn you 3 experience per portrait, depending on number and relevance.
Important but not urgent things:
- Warstriders are more common, and are both easier to use for long periods and more useful in normal combat. Double the time it takes for a warstrider to need maintenance (so 20/30 hours), an hour of combat no longer counts as two hours and only if a target is less than 10 feet high or 5 feet wide does the warstrider subtract three successes from its attack.
- The Delzahn have had a number of Terrestrials in their bloodlines for the past 500 years or so. The majority of them are Wood aspect, but a small but fair number are Fire and Water aspect as well. They rarely have any Breeding to speak of, as it seems to crop up almost at random among several Clans with a somewhat predictable frequency, and the other Clans with less predictability but more strength.
This will be a game I'll be running partially at Giantitp.com and partially over AIM. You will be playing Dragon-Blooded citizens of Chiaroscuro as you try to go about your daily life as world shattering forces seek to batter the City of Glass to bits.
You'll be facing everything and anything under the sun (and quite a few things not under the sun as well), all who want Chiaroscuro for their own nefarious purposes.
Any questions?
