I'm having a hell of a time getting things nailed down for a weapon. Given that Ryan is a Dawn, obviously the baseline stat boost is a bit important with a Daiklave over a mundane sword, but getting a set of evocations together that I actually like is a chore. Sorry this is taking so long.

Well, seeing as he won't be starting with the Daiklave immediately, we can always go ahead and start the game anyway, and Ryan can acquire it once you've got the evocations sorted out.

If you want to bounce ideas off someone, I'm willing to help

Filled out all the charm details on my sheet to completion.

I also filled out my wishlist. At the time of writing, this includes every charm I could possibly conceive of wanting for the character. As much as it appears to be all over the place, it does help me solidify the ideas of who the character is, who the character was, and who the character could become.

On a more practical note, it also could help us figure out if I'm treading on anyone's concept space a little too much. If this is the case, I am more than willing to adapt. This is also why I added notes for my intent in each ability.

Hope it helps.

Hey all. Hope you're still up for this.

Red Shadow Claws Red Shadow Claws , do you know when you expect to have your character sheet finished? Also, I noticed that in terms of the starting Merit points, you and Rykon Rykon have spent some of yours on Artifacts that you're planning to acquire later in the chronicle, whereas ithinkcat ithinkcat hasn't done so, despite also planning to acquire an artifact. With that in mind, I was thinking that the two of you can use the starting Merit points you're planning to spend on your artifacts elsewhere, while we keep a record of artifacts everyone's planning to get, and then you and ithinkcat can purchase them with exp later on. Does that sound fair? Otherwise, ithinkcat would have to use starting Merit points for both their Belt of Shadow Walking and their Heaven and Earth Gauntlets.

Assuming it's not going to be craftable for quite some time, I'd rather just start with the artifact. I don't really have much else to spend those merit dots on without skipping significant development of the character's standing in life. Otherwise, it'd be something like buying a familiar or retainer, which also further complicates things.

Also, I decided to go with a slightly altered version of Zelator as the weapon (Arms of the Chosen p79).

Alterations could be summarized by this:

1. Baneful attacks instead add 1 damage die, reroll a non-success damage die for each 10 on the roll until they no longer appear, and deals aggravated damage. The damage re-rolls would be to compensate for Ryan not being a sorcerer and intending to expand the valid baneful category naturally. So the result would not impact sorcerous motes, nor would it have any impact on distorting or countering spells.

2. Since this weapon is not a Direlance and does not have the piercing tag, change the resonant effect of Spell-Piercing Strike to Waive the willpower cost when used with Fire and Stones Strike.

Any other differences going forward would be avoiding certain evocations and potentially building a few new ones, such as baneful against another type of opponent, or to augment a native charm.

I will try to have it done tomorrow. Sorry, work, and procrastination, has kept me from finishing. (Who would have guessed)

Would you prefer I write in the background how he got the Artifact, so he can start with it? I'd rather keep the Merit points for it, and have it appear in the chronicle, than spend XP on it. I have big plans for the XP... what with several Craft Charms, and some Lore Charms that I wanna get... ;-)

If you want to start with the artifact, go right ahead.

jaydude jaydude Would you allow as a background story to have Quill make Opal Child's HS Bracers? It would be a way for them to know one another, and would probably have been the pinnacle of his crafting to date, and probably the only Artifact he's crafted so far.

oh, ok. Actually I thought about it some more, and was thinking that he found the item broken, and exalted while fixing it, at a time when a visitor from a Society he belongs to, called The Jade Contemplation, secretly an Iselsi run scavenger hunt/scholar society meant to recover Artifacts and funnel them to them, comes knocking on his door, with Opal Child in tow.

I've added some flavor to Ysandre's Daiklave, and its first Evocation. Since I don't actually start out with any of its evocations active, I figure we can make them up as we go along in the interest of getting started if that's OK.

Yeah, I'm fine with that.

I'll go ahead and add Zelator (Daiklave Edition) to Ryan's sheet as well. I'm good with starting up, but I will be fairly busy for the next two days, then everything will be back to normal.

*Deep breath* Well, I have posted, and started running my first game of Exalted. Wish me luck, everyone.

Not gonna lie, I was partly hoping he'd get angry enough to come in the cell. Debating on just braking the door now though.

You're welcome to try, if you think the macho approach won't cause you and the others problems down the line. ;)

That's part of it. All we know of is this one brigand.

Assuming we can lay hands on some basic weapons we can start working our way toward reclaiming our stuff. Unfortunately the only weapons I could justify are a torch or his mace.

I think ithinkcat ithinkcat is the only one prepared for unarmed combat.
