Man it really stings to have taken melee supernal over war in the short term. Ah well, Tiger Warrior Training will still be worth it down the road.

Still, I can muster a size 4-5 force to match theirs as is. Shouldn't be too bad.

Edit: on the note of numbers... Assuming all their forces were in the one city, probably unlikely depending upon the size of the territory as a whole. That's maybe 1 or 2 Size 5 battle groups and a size 3 with Elite drill. I have War God Descendant, that lets us add a point of size to our units on join battle. So Ryan's would be Size 4 and Mara's would likely be Size 3 or 4 depending. So the mechanical gap is small at present.

We will also have the benefit of closing the gap through proper use of the command system and the strategic warfare rules.

Not saying we shouldn't prepare, just that we are sitting in a pretty good place right now before we start ramping up the war engines.

I added the roll to Introduce Fact, and damn, am glad i spent motes on the extra suxxes.

Rykon Rykon The gap might be small, but you're not taking into account whether they might have a Dragon-Blood in command, and that can change the scales some more.

jaydude jaydude I don't know what difficulty you want to set for the Introduce Fact, but I hope the 7 suxxes cleared it.

Rykon Rykon Those 2-4000 troops are probably not a standing army, as standing armies aren't really a thing in medieval-tech worlds, even if Nalia is a bit ahead of the curve technologically due to divine interference. Thus, exactly what we would face depends a lot on the time scale involved, if we can sneak up on the capital before they have time to raise the army, we're in a very good spot, but that probably takes some Charm/Sorcery shenanigans.

jaydude jaydude I imagine the Nalian capital (which needs a name...) to be by the river if you're not opposed.

Regarding our own forces, they're all one Battle Group, you only have multiple if you have significantly more than Size 5 on your side or the troops are significantly different, which I don't think Mara's marines and Ryan's soldiers are.

Regarding Ysandre's skepticism, a large part of it is that she's not much of a general herself, and notably she doesn't know how large a difference having Solar War on your side makes.

Red Shadow Claws Red Shadow Claws near Marita, the Yellow River runs almost exactly east-west. Is there any reason to suppose the jade mine you've conjured out of the endless potential of the universe is not by the river?

Not saying that it's necessarily a good idea to drag all those sailors along with us, but it's nice to know if it's an option. Particularly if we want to exploit the mine long term.

Fair warning, I'll be attending a cousin's wedding tomorrow, so I won't be available for the entirety of that day.

Can I assume that everyone wants to head to the Jade mine to the east, while Mara investigates things in Nalia?

character can make retroactive Instill rolls against the other characters
How does everyone feel about characters rolling social combat against each other? It's fine by me, but I'm playing the most heavily social character, so I may be more than a little biased. I don't want to make anyone else uncomfortable.

I don't mind either. I expect the character to grow and change for his time with the circle.

I mean, as long as nobody uses social rolls to force other players to act against their wishes.
Instill actions to increase/erode intimacies once in a while is under fair use in my book
Yeah, it would be up to us still to roleplay how the intimacies we gain or lose impact our actions and decisions.

For anyone interested, I've just added the details for Nalia's capital Elua to the Lore section.

I think we're a bit more cautious than that. I'm waiting for Ryan to use his Keen Sight Technique to maybe identify the guards, or also possibly going to the town first.

Sure? What did you have in mind?
It was in reference to jaydude jaydude 's OOC comment that we can have our characters build Initmacies while travelling. I'm not entirely sure exactly what Ysandre would go for, I'm just checking if it's OK with everyone before I get started.
