Noah & Gramps[Captain]

"Wh-who the hell are you...?! Y-you whor-" Just as the drunkard was about to curse out a word, his mouth had been quickly covered by an inky thorny vine. His entire body being restrained by multiple other black ink vines as he was held up against the brick wall of a house in the middle of the alleyway. The culprit for this meanwhile stood in front of the male while dressed in v-shaped thin tank top, a silk black jacket and a pair of ordinary denim jeans. "Ah-ah-ah...no name-calling now, that's rude. " As the stranger spoke, he approached the restrained male just to slip his right hand into the man's pockets to check for any identification. By the time he had pulled out a wallet only to find that the man was just any ordinary citizen, the stranger heaved out a heavy sigh before tossing the wallet aside as a small rose bloomed from one of the vines in front of the man's face just to release a colorless gas to make the man fallen asleep. In an instant, the vines dispersed into splotches of ink that covered the brick wall and cement floor before the maw as dropped to the ground with a heavy thud.

The stranger meanwhile proceeded to leave the alleyway while scratching his head, his gaze locked on the ground the entirety of the time as he felt almost embarrassed that their target was nothing more than a fluke. "Sorry Gramps...The guy wasn't part of the authorities after all. Let's head back to the shi--" As he lifted his head to face who he was believed he was speaking to, the male found that he had been all alone and now speaking to no one in the middle of a dark and empty road. "Gramps--?" Just as he spoke another word, the sound of the familiar hearty laughter echoed from a nearby tavern had him snap his head over towards the direction of the sound. The individual who he had been speaking toward he run off into the nearby pub and by the sounds of it had already started drinking for quite some time.

With his jaw dropping and an expression of disbelief followed by annoyance on his, he slowly proceeded to drag his feet toward the direction of the noise. While the male showed disbelief on his face, part of him wasn't too surprised. Afterall, they had been sailing across the sea for the past three days straight without any sign of land and their food supply was starting to run short, so the Captain had decided that the best course of action now was to instead set course for Port Inazumi, a small port town where people from all over Eldrida came to rest and resupply before setting sail back on their ventures. The Captain also said that he wanted to meet an old friend here so even if it meant diverting course from their objective, it would be pleasant for everyone to be able to get back their land-legs for a bit. After landing on Inazumi, everyone was told to go and spend their free time however they wished, although it was requested that the next day everyone should spend some time in the market district to see about purchasing supplies for the ship and the final day was to be spent relaxing and enjoying their time before they set sail the next morning.

Today just so happen to have been the final day, Noah, the ship's Quartermaster had noticed for the past couple of days that while he had been wandering throughout town, there had been this feeling that he was being followed everywhere. He wanted to give whoever this stalker was, a few days to see if they would continue to follow and spy on him before he would act, and on the final day when Noah had led the stranger into the alleyway, he just so happen to find that the stalker was just some random pervert who thought Noah had been a female and wanted to ask him out on a date.

With the danger being nothing more than a false alarm and the Captain now clearly drunk in the tavern, the moment Noah had stepped into the building the strong scent of booze had smacked him almost instantly in the face. Shaking off the smell of alcohol, and sweat of both men and women partying, Noah decided that he'd head over toward the bar counter before taking a seat at one of the stools. Behind the counter was a male bartender, though instead of being human, the man had the ears and tail of what appeared to be a cat of sorts. His ears and tail were white with small spots of gray here and there while he held onto a shot glass in one hand while cleaning it with a rag in the other. "What can I get ya?" The bartender questioned Noah without so much as giving a smile of any sorts. "A glass of X-Prime, on the rocks.." With the order given, the bartender proceeded to put the glass he had been cleaning down before grabbing a slightly larger glass in one hand before grabbing a bottle of alcohol off the nearby shelf with the other. Tossing both into the air, it was a sight to see how the bartender was able to perfectly throw both items into the air and watch as how just the right amount of the glowing blue liquid poured into the glass before it landed back into his hands. Screwing the top back on the bottle, he scooped small ice cubes from a small cabinet behind him before laying them into the cup.

Just as he lowered the glass full of alcohol onto the table, as he pushed it forward towards Noah the glass slowly started to frost over from the base up to the rim till a light bit of a frost fog began to emit from the glass itself. "Fancy..." As Noah complimented the bartender, he'd narrow his gaze to take a gander at the bartender's nametag as it said 'Jin' on it.

Berhane 'B' Le Roux
Doctor
Berhane was a particularly lazy person whenever the crew was allowed their moment of respite, almost a harsh contrast to the hard working person they could easily be when they were on the seas. This particular moment they were seated at one of the tables of the tavern, in one of the darker corners. It always did the job to figure out the one table that had barely any light cast upon it, leaving shadows to stretch over the entire length of the dark stained surface. In that rare light that did shimmer onto the surface one could see a few small stacks of coins and a stack of cards they were using for the game. Around the table were three more men - already rather intoxicated by the alcohol - and B was going through their cards with their usual emotionless expression. The two men on either side of the table had already folded, but the man opposite from B was determined to win at least one out of their three games that evening. With every man that folded his cards came a hint of annoyance that filled the air around the table, but whenever it seemed to flare B simply held up their index finger and the men seemed to calm down without an issue. Nothing was more annoying to B than the possibility of their game of cards being interrupted by some drunk, losing men. The last round was called and B tossed two more coins onto the table to join the small pile of coins that already laid there, not removing their gaze from the cards in their hand. Confidence or ego, perhaps it was both in their case. As their game came to an end B was the first to lay down their cards, causing the man opposite from them to toss their cards onto the table with a loud grunt. ‘’I warned you, darling. You could not win the first two games, I do not know what made you think you would win this last one.’’ their voice flowed with a dangerous ease at that moment while their hand was already gathering all the coins and putting them into the small coin purse they carried with them. ‘’You cheated, winning three games is not-‘’ B scoffed in response, not waiting for the man to finish his sentence, and raised the eyebrow of their bad eye. ‘’Tsk- we have a sore loser at the table.’’ Without another word B started to gather the cards while the men were leaving their table, grumbling to themselves as they left the premises. B was left chuckling to themselves for a moment, turning in their chair in order to rest their back against the wall of the tavern, propping their feet up onto one of the chairs closest to them. At fast pace the cards in their hands were being shuffled - perhaps a card or two was released into the deck from their jacket - in order to organise them properly. Quick fingers, fast thinking. There was no fun in such skills if one did not entertain themselves with it, no? B’s good eye caught on to Noah entering the tavern, raising their eyebrow ever so lightly. Following his movements for just a little bit, though there was only so much social interaction B could possibly handle at their own accord today.

Tavern

She had been handed quite the list—a long one, filled with what she considered nonsense—of items and supplies she needed to gather before they set sail again.

The first few days were spent exploring the port town with wide-eyed curiosity and awe. Growing up in a secluded village had kept her from experiencing the diversity of the world, but now, after a year aboard the ship, she seized every opportunity to explore. Every shop, every place to eat, every building; all explored with keen interest. Her curiosity knew no bounds, but that also meant she had to be reined in to focus on her tasks. And so, she found herself stuck with the dreaded supply list.

After spending the first few days thoroughly exploring, she found herself on the last day, scrambling to gather the mix of items. And now that her tasks were finally complete, there was only one place left to explore: a local tavern.

Her arms were crossed over her chest as she stood, small and defiant, staring up at a hulking man who towered over her in size and strength. The man had sun-tanned skin, his arms covered in fading cuts and scars from years of rough work. His dark brown hair was scruffy, and his deep-set brown eyes gave off a hardened, no-nonsense look; quite a powerful presence. From where she stood, his biceps seemed as large as her entire frame. Yet, his imposing build did little to intimidate her.

He glanced down at her with an irritated scowl and waved her off. "Alright, kid. Beat it."

She looked up at the man. "Why the *fuck* would a kid be coming to a tavern? I’ve already told you three times—I’m of age. Now move."

She stepped toward the door, but his arm shot out, blocking her, gripping the wooden doorframe with force. His arm hit the wood, inches from her face, the impact blowing stray strands of her hair. She was neither impressed nor concerned, her head tilting to look up at him with her olive-gray eyes.

He spoke low, a hushed growl. "Kid, you’re going to make me mad..” The brute leaned in closer, peering down at her with fierce intensity. The anger was clear in the way the vein in his neck bulged. “Go. Home."

The height difference between them was substantial. Even as he leaned in closer, she had to rise slightly onto her toes, a sly smirk pulling at the corners of her lips. "Oh no, you're going to get mad?” Her words dripped with mock innocence, laced with irritation and overconfidence. “Go ahead~ Do something about it." Her tone was cold and steady. Her fingers grazed the slit of her dress, lightly brushing her upper thigh. Slowly, she pulled at the corners of something beneath the fabric—an ofuda seal.

bon appétit...

It had been a few days since they landed and while they could easily make it last a few more days - with smaller portion sizes of course - it was still nice that they were able to port, giving them time to finally get ingredients - especially fresher food. After all, as good as dried foods and pasta can be, fresh is always best. So, on the first day, Letizia was on a shopping spree, for food of course.

From one shop to the next, a handful of fresh produce, meats, and a few plants even were picked out. Letizia had once again burned their little potted basil plant which upset them, almost causing the food that day to be burned as well - thankfully that didn’t happen but to anyone who bore witness well, it was certainly a shock one could say, and not the scene one wants to see while they are waiting for their food. So a fresh basil plant was on the list and was obtained, along said rosemary, thyme, and sage - the basic herb plants. On top of it being spring it was the perfect time for starter plants and maybe, convince someone to help her build a garden. Yet while it was also spring, that meant the freshest of some foods such as - strawberries!

Letizia was not a sweet person but nothing could beat a light strawberry-themed dessert, which had to be one of Letizia’s favorite things to make, or to others it might seem that way. However, her fondness for strawberries comes from someone else yet, that was their secret to keep. All of this happened on day one of course, as day two came with another very important job.

Deep cleaning.

Of course, every time they cook they clean thoroughly but sometimes it’s nice to be able to scrub everything clean, as laborious as it may have been, it makes a kitchen feel brand new. The counters were disinfected, appliances were shiny, the tops of cabinets dusted, pots and pans gave a very long wash, and of course, a long amount of time was spent sharpening their knives. They would of course after cleaning go right into cooking, preparing snacks for people as they would come and go, always making sure there was something for everyone though some things couldn’t be made beforehand Noah was a fan of sashimi Letizia learned which does not keep well in the fridge so that often is made when Noah comes for lunch. Shrimp, Kael’s favorite, is another one that doesn’t stay well fresh, however, there is always a stash of frozen shrimp and various sauces and dipping sauces as well. However t, things like tofu when stored correctly can last a bit longer, cooked and uncooked which makes it easy to prepare ahead of time, of course, make sure there is bread, deli meats, cheeses, and other sorts of food that can be thrown together is also very nice. However, the last thing that was made more for Letizia and their presence: was more pasta.

They often make their dough, shape each pasta as needed, and make LARGE batches at that. By midday and into the late evening, pasta could be found everywhere in the kitchen area, but those who have been on the ship for even a month would know that this was normal, pasta made Letizia feel more at home which leads into the final day.

Day three and the final day, one where Letizia spent the morning testing pasta and packing all the pasta away leaving for an afternoon of writing out meal plans for the new few weeks, hoping to have supplies last a bit longer than they did before and hopefully not have the crew become sick of pasta yet - thought it was a sustainable and easy thing to prepare. And maybe when they leave tonight, Letizia might make a wonderful dessert, though unsure of what kind to make at the moment. Either way, they had a calm afternoon by as evening came found themselves bored, no one was really on the ship, so, taking up one of their langes messer just for safety they changed into a baggy shirt with a simple floral pattern, big earrings, black dress pants to tuck in the shirt and a statement belt, nothing too out there but nice enough for them to feel like they could go out, and that they did. Letizia wandered around the small port as it got darker into the night and they found a tavern at long last. As they approached they would see two figures at the door and one she knew right away: Fumiko. The current first mate figured this could mean more of the crew did end up in this tavern and being taller than the first mate would step behind her, Letizia putting a gentle hand on the other's shoulder as they looked down slightly to the shorter woman, having caught a bit of what the two were arguing about as they approached.

“Hey! I’m so glad you found the tavern, I sure hope it wasn’t too hard to find,”
Immediately lying through their teeth and looked up at the bouncer with a bright smile.
“If you could excuse us, I’m sure you wouldn’t want me to do anything to this lovely establishment, would be hard to find another job if this place just so happened to go up in flames,”
they added in, the bouncer who looked already pissed off, was getting even more pissed off, thought distracted by Letizia enough for them to start pushing Fumiko through the door, and quickly continued to talk - not giving the bouncer even a second to try and say anything - Letizia did enjoy to talk a lot.

“Business is business however, and honestly don’t think starting a fight right now would be a good idea so, we will enjoy our drinks, no thanks to you of course. Not very good at your job if you can’t tell someone's age or if they are telling the truth or not, might want to look into a job that only requires brute force, just some advice for free, most people would pay me for my advice believe it or not. I've helped many on various topics but jobs, I can tell very well that this does not fit you socially. Well, I hope you have a good evening, I will go enjoy mine with my friend. I hope we never have to see each other again!”
They said, and practically dashed inside, making sure to keep Fumiko close by as they walked in and quickly closed the door behind them, or the man could even think of saying anything else and let out a sigh of relief.

“Fumiko, we really shouldn’t risk starting fights right now, we’re lucky no authorities have found us yet,”
they said.
“Thank god I decided to come out for a drink or who knows what you would have done, as fun as it might be to watch, we are going to be leaving so soon,”
they added in and started to make their way towards the bar.
“Oh, and you’re welcome~”
they said in a slightly teasing tone, knowing fully well Fumiko COULD have taken care of the man but it was fun to swoop in and pretend to ‘save the day’.
