What would it be like for someone to wake up day in and day out, without ever seeing color? That was the reality for Mika, she had never seen color ever which was more significant than one would think. In this world everyone who had a soulmate saw in color, if that soulmate died than all they would see was black-and-white. Mika was born seeing black and white, meaning that her soulmate had died pretty young and before she was born. Her parents were hoping it was some mistake, but it didnโ€™t seem to be a mistake and the girl would go on without seeing the color.

Mikaโ€™s mom died when she was pretty young, after that she was left alone with her father who really didnโ€™t seem like he cared much. Maybe it was because of the fact that she was pretty much an outcast, it was very rare for one to be born not seen color. Because of that, she had been an outcast and people looked at her weird. Still, Mika managed to be rather happy child and happy throughout her life. She was charming, as well as just a precious girl who needed more protection than anyone had ever given her.

Now, at 18 she would be starting college on this particular day, this day that would be of extreme importance. For the first time in her life, she woke up to the colors of the world and for someone who had only seen black-and-white, it was incredible. The sun was shining through, causing things through the room to shine and it made Mika want to cry. But what did this mean? How could she possibly see color? Did that mean that her soulmate was out there? That was impossible, people couldnโ€™t just come back to life once they were dead.

She hopped out of bed, going to look at herself in the mirror as she touched her hair and looked at the color of her eyes. She grabbed her puppy, Momo and began to dance around as her happiness for the first time changed.

After focusing on her newfound vision, she began to get ready for the first day of college. She quickly gathered up her items, she lived in her own apartment that she managed to save up for working at the local flower shop she worked at. She quickly made her way outside, people probably thought she was weird for enjoying everything that she was. This was the first day of what she hoped would be the rest of her lifeโ€ฆ..

The headmaster, Gabriel, cleared his throat before projecting across the audience.
"Thank you everyone for coming to celebrate the graduating class of 2024!" he paused briefly letting the gravity set in and the hall filled with applause and whooping cheers.
"With the ever increasing population on Earth, there is an increasing need for guardian angels. For the first time ever, we have extended the guardian angel academia to human souls. These brave and kind people underwent intensive curriculum, ranging from grueling martial arts training to an in-depth review of the divine doctrines. Many failed, but these few persevered. Tomorrow, they will leave for Earth and walk amongst humans again to serve hands on!"
The auditorium filled with cheers yet again. A few family members could be heard tearing up as well.

The background noise faded as Connor, a 21 year old graduate, became lost in thought. Tomorrow would be the big day. After 18 years, he would finally return to Earth. He didn't remember anything from his time there before. His entire family died in a car accident when he was three, and he'd grown up in Heaven. It was wonderful, but it's hard to appreciate the nice things when you haven't known anything else.
Yes, he wanted to help other humans, but he also wanted to experience life. The heartbreak, the tribulation, the road rage! There was so much to experience!

Everything passed in a blur. Receiving his wings. Shaking hands with Gabriel. Saying goodbye to friends and family. Promises to call via Spirit Sprint. A restless dreamless sleep like a kid before going to Disneyland.

Then it was the day, Connor waved one last time. Took a deep breath and stepped through the portal.

He blinked rapidly. It was so bright... and colorful? Was it colorful the last time he was here?

He was in the middle of a bustling college campus quad. He watched students shuffling to and from classes. Laughing with peers, studying, and one guy with a guitar playing glancing at all the girls that giggled as he passed.

He was here!

He opened the dossier and found his protectee's name.

"...Mika..." he said softly. Somehow her name left a sweet taste in his mouth as he walked to get started on his new life.

The walk from small apartment to the school was actually not that far, but right now Mika was enjoying the colors of the world that she had never gotten to see before. It was going to take her time to match all the names with the colors, but it still didnโ€™t make any sense how she could possibly see the colors. Was there a chance that maybe she had a soulmate out there? That maybe she would not be alone forever? The thought was too good to be true, as she had always expected that the person who she was supposed to spend the rest of her life with, just wasnโ€™t alive. She was not counting on the fact, more so because right now she was simply happy about colors.

Mika definitely needed someone watching out for her, she could be clumsy and a little aloof sometimes. Even though she was extremely smart, she had a good head on her shoulders and was expected to get good grades. Often times, she wouldnโ€™t focus on what was right in front of her, which often times caused her a lot of grief and pain. Still, her upbeat attitude and never-ending smile, seem to get through anything that came her way.

She was walking into the school building, her usual upbeat and smiling self. She saw a boy standing there, he didnโ€™t seem to be with anybody and she figured he was a person to ask where she was going. He looked really handsome, causing Mika to stand back a little bit and be a little hesitant to talk to him. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to be brave this time and start her life anew. She could finally see color, this was the first day of the rest of her life and she was going to use that to her advantage.

โ€œExcuse meโ€ฆ. My name is Mika, I was wondering if you might know where the science classes are?โ€ She gave him a sweet smile, as she looked pretty innocent and naรฏve, but there was something about her smile that usually drew people in.
