Casso N. Wary

Age
Physical - 200
Mental - 21

Species
Human

Personality
Rattle off the usual descriptions. Gentle giant. Country bumkin. Space case. Mama's boy. Because they are all right, in some aspect or another. The boy who wears a sleeve sewn from his heart, honest to a fault and all because he doesn't know how else to be. Over expressive in every direction, a boy who is quick to become lost in his own emotions, but wouldn't dare wish to be found. One may find it strange, to witness him in love with the rush of being impulsive. Rushing without thinking, and being ruled by emotions is a good way to get killed. And yet, that danger was never something to curse Casso with sleepless nights. Headstrong and body-strong alike, such is a boy who throws himself into fervor. Such is the boy who has climbed the Tower to this point. Such is the boy who bared a solitary climb. Dumb as he may be, and reckless in kind; that recklessness, for the longest time, has been left unobserved by others. The reason being quite purposeful. One could call it care, compassion.

For all besides the self.

Position
Spear Bearer

Abilities and skills
[Sea Splitting Spear]
"Where I'm from, it takes a lotta oomph to catch dinner."
Casso's specialty, and the reason he's chosen to bear the spear. He sends his spears heaven-ward with every throw, with the raw power to challenge those who sit within the thrones of the very place his spears may reach. In distance, power, speed, his throws are unmatched. Achieving a level one might very well hail as, monstrous. At least they would if they hit. Casso's style of spear throwing, cultivated over his lifetime, sacrifices the notion of aim for all of its raw power. Which was perfect, when his only targets were goliath Shinheuh. Big targets.

"Gotta keep your tools nice and fed, they're just like us. Kinda."
Drink from the well, and know power gained from its depths. The act of using Imbibe imbues the power of a Baang into Casso's chosen weapon. Enhancing its might and allowing access to power yet untapped without such a skill. In order to know that power, Casso must first penetrate a Baang with his chosen tool. The weapon only needs a moment to drink from the Baang, and from there, Imbibe is active. Drinking from another's Baang does not take away their ability to summon another to life, however, drinking from his own Baang causes Casso to lose the ability to make it so long Imbibe is active. Additionally, to drink from a Baang of special quality is to take on that very same quality.
Slow Moving Current
"Learned this one watching low tide affect the steams with Pa."
Strike as flowing water, and leave the current at a standstill. Using this skill causes the weapon to leave a trail when used, that trail is made of a slow to dissipate Shinsu. Coming into contact with the trail will not impede one's movements, but will harm their body. One can force the trail to disperse using Reverse Flow Control.
Rock Crushing Wave
"It's scary, how water laps on bluffs during high tide."
Expel the force, and let your power break a path. This skill causes a massive Shinsu explosion to form from the tip of the weapon, flowing outwards and away from it. The explosion is a powerful one, and using it forces the effects of Imbibe to cease. Such a skill does not require Casso to be holding the weapon to activate.
[Baang Creation]
He has one. Almost two. Maybe someday.

Weapons
Gallant - A spear of sparkling silver and gold embellish. With a mighty pointed head and an internationally long shaft, the spear lives up to its namesake. Though, all of its glamors end at asceticism.

Pikes - Spears that are less so spear and more massive metal spike. Meant to be thrown without much ceremony.

History
Casso was always something of a step ahead of his peers. Always the tallest, always the strongest, not always the smartest, but always the kindest. His name was commonly known in the households of his small village. A name that started as the village murmur, and grew into the village fervor once he picked up the spear. His village was one of hunters, men and woman who took to the road to sly the sky-bound fish, so that they may eat, subsist, survive. So when it came time for Casso to prove his worth on the trail, he'd do so in spades. His spears flew true, and his prey always fell. Celebrated, confident, a swelling ego, Casso felt atop the small world that he called home.

It wasn't long then, that whispers of the Tower would arise in the village. Casso should go, Casso should climb, Casso should come back a Ranker. The whispers of such expectations did not fall on deaf ears, nor did the wishes fall on weak shoulders. Casso devoted himself to days of hunting, wherein through the grueling and grind of facing bigger and bigger creatures, he would find the strength to earn pride. The days seemed endless, days of waiting, of slaying, of dreaming.

Dream no longer. Be welcomed into the Tower. And learn just how small your prior world was.

Within the Tower, Casso became nobody, and nothing. Those of stronger blood trounced him, those of better mind surpassed him. No longer did he stand on any pinnacle. As a Spear Bearer, his strength was impressive, but that didn't help him succeed. Not when his first task was to strike a target. Not far enough to hit, but small enough to evade every attempt. A target that became nothing but a small stepping stone for another within his batch. A talented Regular, a strong Spear Bearer. And a painful inspiration for Casso in his years to come. In every test, and every task, he was outdone by leagues. Again and again, outdone and outdone by each and every day. Gritting with a smile, Casso accepted the gap and vowed to push himself further. To bridge that gap. But that vow did nothing to stop Casso from failing, and being unable to proceed to the next floor. He had to watch the gap widen.

The time came again, another chance to enter the Tower. And this time Casso managed to pass, by the smallest possible margin. But still, that was a success. Welcomed into the Tower, he would begin the climb in honest. And learned that Evankhell's Hell wasn't the only one out there. Thrust into the fires, with little more than a fool's pride to keep him climbing.

Very cool. Accepted.

Nam Kyong-min
Eu6cpFkVkAUnXqo.jpeg

Age:
Physical: 190
Mental: 18

Species:
Human(?)

Appearance:
A blonde lady that stands at 5’11 feet exactly or 180 cm with long, straight hair and ice-blue eyes. She is quite slim but lean. Her appearance doesn’t suggest much strength, but if one has ever witnessed her carving through other Rankers with her sword, that notion is almost quickly thrown out of the window. She has strange, gruesome burn marks underneath her eyes, and she has admitted to the fact that they were self-inflicted. The very same scars are decorated with red sutures in the shape of Xs. She is commonly dressed in a black tank top and a red checkered skirt with a pair of belts for her utility pouches. She tops her outfit off with a crimson trenchcoat that she wears off her shoulders. She has a pair of headphones on her neck, but they don’t actually do anything, and appear to be only around as an accessory of sorts.

Personality:
Callous, brutish, merciless, and bloodthirsty, Nam Kyong-min is a monster of immense proportions who aggressively and actively goes hard and all-in in any confrontation that requires brute force. Backed with an overflowing amount of determination to see a job done, she powers through injuries and overwhelming odds just to land even one blow. She does not seem to care if the one she is facing is a member of one of those vaunted Families, a High Ranker, or even Zahard himself. She throws herself into a fight purely because she wants to draw blood. Whether it will be hers or her opponent’s, she doesn't care. So long as one of them is still standing at the end of it, she would have had her fun, and that was all that mattered to her.

She lacks any idea of subtlety, and her problem-solving skills start and end at ‘hit it as hard as she can’. If that fails, then she loses all interest, and lets someone else do the brainwork for her. This has, more often than not, landed her in bigger problems than the original one, though, given her disposition towards violence, this usually works out in her favour to some extent. Despite how she moves and carries herself in a battle, she actually has no concept of strategy, moving only out of muscle memory and reflexes. She has no forward thinking, and simply charges ahead, everything else be damned. She has come out on top of a fair amount of fights purely because she is a ‘pure idiot’, unable to grasp concepts like traps being laid for her or strategies banking on specific movements that she would use. More often than not, she would do something completely out of the left field because she didn’t think enough.

Kyong-min, despite her brute force approach, is...able to be human during off hours. She’s direct and shoots her mouth off at a moment’s notice, but she’s honest and actually pretty nice and rather caring of teammates. She has difficulty lying, or to be more exact, lacks the imagination to actually think ahead to formulate a complex lie. Kyong-min also has some problem parsing between truths and lies for the same reason. She doesn’t like to think too much, and just goes with what her body is telling her to do at the time. She doesn’t have many skills outside of swinging her weapons around, though, and her concept of pain is warped, to say the least, so her advice never seems to work for many others.

Position:
Fisherman

Abilities and skills:
IMPACT: The primary reason why Kyong-min seems to operate so well with a sword in high Shinsoo concentration, IMPACT is a two-step process of drawing Shinsoo into the blade of her sword not unlike a magnet, and ‘detonating’ it right at the moment of impact of her attacks. The higher she climbs, the higher the Shinsoo concentration, the more powerful her IMPACTs become, making this particular skill of hers an ever-scaling, ever-growing, and ever-more powerful one. The more Shinsoo IMPACT Step One draws in, however, the heavier her sword becomes, and Kyong-min has to always improve herself more so than the technique if she intends on climbing ever further up the tower. IMPACT is extremely destructive, capable of blowing away most, if not all opposition if it hits them at full power, and has many applications up Kyong-min’s sleeves. Striking the ground to send a shockwave, or slashing the air to send a slicing wave, are the most common ones that Kyong-min utilises.

Reel Manipulation: Despite being a painfully average swordswoman, Kyong-min lives up to her Fisherman position by being quite skilled at using a Reel, sometimes using it in tandem with a Needle in a manner similar to how one uses a rope dart. She utilises her Reel with much more precision and ability than she does with her sword, and uses it to its full potential, whether to draw herself towards a more advantageous position, lock an opponent into a disadvantageous position where they have no other option than to receive a fully charged IMPACT, or to simply rid her opponent of the use of their limbs or their weapons.

Baang Creation: One. She doesn’t bother.

Shinsoo Resistance:
High

Weapons (if any) +their capabilities:
Nisemono Shinryu: A katana with a circular gold-coated guard. While otherwise a poor choice of a weapon in the Tower, Kyong-min uses it purely because of its wider surface area, allowing her to collect more Shinsoo as she swings it around. It is extremely sturdy for a sword, and throughout her journey through the Tower, it has yet to show even signs of wear and tear.

Needles: She has two or three stored in her Arms Inventory. She occasionally whips them out to dual-wield one of them with her katana or to execute specific IMPACT techniques. They aren’t anything interesting.

Reel: Attached to her Arms Inventory, par the course.

History:
She burned off the marks on her face when she was young, and discarded her heritage as early as she could. Called names, spurned, and made fun of, it was the least she could do. She could not fix who she was, so she fixed the one thing that displayed that. Taking fire to her face, she seared off the...things that marked her misfortunes, and sew the crimson Xs in their place. The sheer horrifying act of watching or just imagining someone doing that to herself was enough to scare off some of her tormentors. She didn't cry at all, she brushed away the pain like it was nothing, and those that stayed, thinking it was all just an act, she beat them within an inch of their lives. Nam Kyong-min never asked to be a monster that her small town knew her to be today, but they were the ones who created it. Stones and sticks never broke her bones, but she felt every single blow nonetheless. She heard every word, she saw every grimace on their faces. If that was what they wanted, then so be it. She would become what they wanted. No, she would become their worst nightmare.

She never had friends, nor did she have any family. Abandoned like dirt on the ground, she never found any solace in the arms of anyone. She, instead, only had someone who more or less tolerated her presence. He was a but a simple smith, and he accepted her hanging around his workshop, or chose to hide there whenever things got a little too spicy for her own good. He was the one who inspired her, sort of, to climb the Tower. Perhaps out of exasperation, he had told her that there was nothing else for her here, in a home that treated her like the plague. She was strong, she was brutal, the Tower accepted those kinds of people. There, in the Tower's many tests, she would become ever stronger, and if she ever returned here, for whatever reason, none of them would ever go against her- she would just as easily crush any of them. Unless, of course, she was...scared to face even stronger foes, and she was happy just terrorizing the weak?

Of course, this taunt was enough to get her going. No one cared that she was going. If anything, they were all relieved that the problem child was actually going to leave them in peace. Her one and only friend was the only one who came to see her off, giving her the katana that she still wields today. It was one of his best works, but he did remark that it would grow to become less and less useful during her journey. It was sturdy enough to survive her wild slashings, but he raised the issue of the growing concentrations of Shinsoo. Seeing that as another challenge, despite the smith insisting that it wasn't, she pledged that she would make it to the top with his sword, even if it was going to cost her all the time in the world. With a laugh that would be more befitting of an evil overlord, she started her journey.

As early as her initial test, she already made waves amongst some of the Regulars, thinning their numbers greatly by herself 'for the hell of it'. Time would only show if she could continue to do so.

Name: Nabi Lim
Age: 170, Mental age 18
Species: Human
Position: Scout

Personality:

Never hold back and be who you were always meant to be and screw anyone else who says otherwise: These are words that Nabi tries to live by everyday. Outspoken about her beliefs, Nabi isn't one to let her opinion on things go unknown. She's often the first to speak up and try to get things going, and if she wants to do something ad enough she'll do it anyways whether anyone is going along with her or not. This isn't to say she's reckless, however. Quite the contrary, Nabi is quite a careful person who is risk averse. She's been burned too hard by her bad decisions in the past to continue making them so she'd rather take the safe route than risk everything, though if the risk is low enough she doesn't mind taking a chance just for fun. As far as fights go though she'd rather take the path of least resistance if it means surviving to see another day.

On her off time, Nabi is quite the jokester and enjoys teasing and being sarcastic with others. She'll try to push every button a person has for the hell of it, and enjoys the back and forth of a heated argument. The girl is quite relaxed and chill herself and isn't one to take things seriously, and it's hard for her to relate to people on an emotional level and see that not everyone feels the same way. Those who complain about her jokes or teasing are often told to 'lighten up' and their words are rarely considered. Still, this doesn't mean Nabi is completely without empathy. In fact, Nabi craves friends and companionship and wants to understand, but due to her upbringing finds it tricky. She'll try to help others and be nice in her own weird ways that can come across as condescending, but under no circumstance will she open up herself. It's just not who she is or how she wants to be seen, and unless someone digs really deep it's unlikely her true emotions will stay buried.

Abilities and skills:

Snake Skin - Using a fine layer of Shinsoo to cloak her entire body, Nabi can use Snake Skin to turn herself completely invisible to the naked eye. As a scout such a skill has many utilizations, allowing her to hide in plain site and either fall back during combat or harass an opponent even further. Her main use for it, however, takes place before a battle even begins. Nabi is exceptional at gathering intel and scoping out an area without being seen, and furthermore she is able to pull severely hamper a teams ability to perform by pulling off a sneak attack or even assassination before the first strike is even thrown. Unfortunately Snake Skin does not conceal her sounds, and thus a careful ear can easily sniff her out if she is not using the utmost of care to conceal her movements.

Assassin's Dagger - Further playing into her role as a tricky fighter, Assassin's Dagger is a skill that can allow Nabi to turn the tides of battle against an opponent that far outclasses her. Concentrating her Shinsoo, Nabi can form a fine blade that fits around her hand like a glove that extends from her wrist past her fingers for a total length of 12 inches. This concentrated Shinsoo can allow her to cut past defenses she otherwise normally wouldn't be able to get past easily, and while it certainly isn't a guaranteed kill, if it manages to break skin the Shinsoo will immediately enter the foes body, Once inside, it painlessly hinders the flow of Shinsoo throughout for around half and hour, making it harder for the inflicted to use their skills or set up their defenses again. This skill is also extremely good Combined with Snake Skin, as it allows for Nabi to go for her signature one shot assassinations, though there is a caveat. Assassin's Dagger cannot be cloaked like herself, and thus attempting to use the two skills in tandem will make a clearly visible floating blade. Still, this doesn't make the two unusable as a pair, as one simply needs to be facing away from her to take advantage and score the kill.

Weapons and their capabilities:

While not possessing any weapons, Nabi does employ a modified version of Mantis Style martial arts, passed down from her teacher and modified to it her street fighting background. While faster and seemingly more brutal than true Mantis Style, Nabi's variation loses out on some of the nuance and finer points of the fighting style, losing a good amount of power and the one shot capabilities. The core stays alive though, as Nabi focuses on joints and uses momentum to carry out her attacks to disable her oponents.

Shinsoo resistance: Medium

History:

Being born into an a rich and influential family definitely has its perks: Everyone knows you, you can have nearly anything you want, and if you screw up somewhere down the line you always have a safety net to fall back on. However, despite these surface level benefits that may make others green with envy, things aren't always sunshine and rainbows. Privileged or not everyone faces their own sets of challenges which can test ones mettle and internal beliefs.

Nabi knows this quite well.

Daughter to the richest family in the city who practically ran the place, many assumed she would be living the best life one possibly could. However, despite having access to any material thing she could ever ask for she never felt like she had her own identity or place of belonging. Her parents barely paid attention to her due to their busy lives, only giving her a spotlight to chastise or scold her for breaking one of their many strict rulings, and being an only child she never had anyone at home to confide in. Outside of her family life she was treated like a delicate princess, with jealousy abound and people wanting to know her simply for her status. With all of this taken into account, despite having everything, one could say Nabi had nothing to her name besides just that: her name.

Nabi Suffered silently for much of her early life, bottling up her emotions as she had no one to rely on and simply put on a smile. However, one can only put on a facade for so long, and in her early teens after constantly being ignored and sucked up to she started to rebel and fell into a rough crowd. She'd constantly be getting into fights and causing trouble, and for the first time in her life she felt like she was having fun. The girl became much more outspoken and crass, saying whatever was on her mind and not caring what anybody thought of her or her actions. Nobody truly cared about her anyways, so why should she care about them? Whenever her parents would scold her she'd act flippantly, and if they punished her she'd simply find a way to weasel out of it. Nothing they could do could hold her down anymore now that she finally found herself. She was free.

At least, that's what she had thought.

With the talk of the city being the Lim families troublemaking daughter, eventually her parents had had enough of their daughter disgracing the family name and bringing even more unneeded stress upon them. So, for her 18th birthday, they disowned her. She was told she was no longer welcome to use the Lim family name and to get out of their house and never return. Nabi was shocked at first, but just as always seemingly took it in stride and moved in with some of her newfound friends. However, despite her outwardly appearance she was still putting up a facade. At the end of the day all she wanted was to be accepted, so losing the acceptance of her parents even though she was actively spiting them...well paradoxically it hurt. It gave her a brief crisis of belonging once again, but this time someone was watching. Someone who would take advantage of her emotional weakness, and after a brief conversation Nabi would find herself climbing the tower looking for herself once again.

At first, Nabi thought she'd finally found her place. Somewhere that tested your character and challenged your very core? It was perfect and exactly what she was looking for. No longer would she need to worry about an overly strict family or a name that would only bring her misfortune. Here, the only thing that mattered was surviving. The first few floors of the tower went great for Nabi, as she managed to clear the challenges and make friends along the way. However, as the tower does, a wrench was thrown in her way In the form of Bubo. Bubo was a singular an with a bit of extra weight on him, and as her team went up against him they were absolutely and systematically demolished. Every single one of her friends were killed right in front of her, and just as it was her turn to face her end she broke down in tears pleading for her life and cursing her decision to climb the tower. Maybe the man took pity on her, maybe he was simply bored. Whatever the case, Nabi's words would not fall on deaf ears as Bubo would spare her life, but with one stipulation: She would join him on his climb up the tower and become his pupil. Of course, feeling as if she had no choice, she accepted.

At first Nabi despised the man she was paired with, understandably so considering he killed all her friends, but as the two continued to climb and she learned from him she started to grow a small bit of respect for him. Bubo was a rather relaxed and reflective individual, and despite the absolute dominance he showed again and again he had no love for the killing he did. Death was a part of the tower, and whether he wanted to or not he'd have to kill others, so in the end he chose to go along with the flow. It was a philosophy that Nabi could appreciate, so when suddenly one day she woke up with Bubo gone and not a word explaining why, she couldn't help but chuckle.

All she could do was go along with the flow, and unlike every other crossroads she was presented in her life, she simply shrugged and moved on.

Name: Wynnevyre Tramor
Age: 112, 21
Species: Cave Elf
Position: Light Bearer
Shinsoo Resistance: Low

Appearance:
A diminutive woman who is ghostly in every sense of the word. Generations of underground living have robbed her race of any pigmentation they once had, leaving them pale to the point of near translucence. Most telling of all is her eyes, which resemble bloodstained milk in their plaid murkiness, gleaning as little about the world as you can about their owner by peering into them. A pair of long, pointed ears adorn the sides of Wynnevyre's head, which occasionally twitch and adjust themselves to perceive the local soundscape. Her manner of dress is surprisingly ornamental, as fashion as it was in her hometown, was mainly defined by features that could be touched and felt, resulting in complex networks of silken embroideries and chitinous accessories.

Personality:
A quiet woman, unused to the constant assault on the senses that is the outside world. Wynnevyre is a passionate spirit by nature, fascinated by the world's wonders and driven by a ravenous desire to learn and see more. But, she's also a very sheltered soul in the most literal of senses. Until she entered the Tower, she'd not spoken to a single person to whom she was not somehow related, or as good as related, and so she finds the myriad natures of the Tower's inhabitants as overwhelming as she does fascinating.

Wynnevyre herself is a bit of a mystery, though it's by no effort of her own. Having lived her life in blinding darkness, emoting and other physical displays are foreign to her. She gestures little, and her face hardly stirs with emotion even when her spirit is burning bright. Conversely, she's aught to poke and prod away at some that's captured her fascination, compensating for her poor vision through the sensations of touch and sound and smell.

Weapon(s):
  • Obscura - A custom lighthouse that is specialized to capture information that Wynnevyre is able to more readily use than the standard model. Wynnevyre's enhanced spatial understanding allows her to use it as a more active support tool than the norm, making adjustments to her allies' attacks to ensure they hit true, or stymying the opponent's advances to ensure her allies remain safe and sound.
Abilities and Skills:
  • Shinsoo Sense - In place of seeing with their eyes, Wynnevyre's race primary perceives the world with touch, sound, smell, and Shinsoo. Wynnevyre is able to detect the ebb and flow of Shinsoo to a much greater degree than would normally be possible, allowing her to map out her environment quickly and effectively, as well as to more easily detect any abnormal shifts in the local Shinsoo that might be caused by either friend or foe. As a consequence of her body's adaptation to better sense Shinsoo, it is also more sensitive to it, making her more vulnerable to Shinsoo-based attacks.
  • Remote Flow Control - By using her Lighthouse as a nexus, Wynnevyre is able to extend the reach of her Shinsoo manipulation. She's able to manipulate any Shinsoo within her Observers' perception, but it takes a much greater level of focus thanks to the degree of separation. Her offensive techniques are sluggish and ineffective because of this, so she instead focuses on aiding her allies, whom she has a more familiar understanding of. She's able to empower their techniques with her own Baangs, as well as accelerate their physical movements.
  • Baang Control - Wynnevyre can generate and control up to two Baangs of reasonable size and density. She mostly uses them to defend her Lighthouse, or aid her allies.
History:
The town of Basement was a dingy, sad little thing; The residence of outcasts long forgotten, it was isolated and separate from the Tower at large, cut off from the light of the surface, and the hope of the climb. The Floor it was carved into hardly mattered, as darkness was all that those who dwelled within it were allowed to know. Basement was but a blip in a vast, unchanging network of caverns that infested the Tower's structure, and it was all that Wynnevyre knew.

She was born as the only daughter of Basement's local growth-tenders, who toiled away in the cavern's deepest and dankest depths to ensure a healthy harvest of edible mushrooms year in and out. Her upbringing was a modest one, deprived of much of what she'd have taken for granted should she have been born on the surface, but in the same breath, bereft of the conflict and turmoil that haunted the Tower proper.

Even the Shinheuh that called Basement's cavern's their home seemed content to live their lives in the shadows. While her parents farmed mushrooms, her aunts and uncles would herd vast swarms of insect shinheuh throughout the depths, cultivating and culling their numbers and the town's stomach grumbled and filled.

It was in the faint bioluminescence of her parents' crops that Wynnevyre's curiosity bloomed. Her world, which was normally rifle with nought but darkness, would be bathed in a fuzzy, shapeless blue. She could make out faint blobs and shadows within, which she understood to be her parents, but her eyes, underdeveloped after generations of neglect, could glean little more. But it was enough to make her wonder if there was anything more to the world than the infinite blackness she called home.

The oral traditions of Basement were, naturally, quite rich, so when Wynnevyre went asking, it wasn't hard for her to get the elderly residents of the village to get talking. They spoke of a time before time, and a year before years when their people walked not in darkness, but in blinding, scathing light. They were fantastically tall tales of caverns without walls, mushrooms that blossomed higher than even the loftiest of ceilings, and air that stirred with more life than the most voracious of insect swarms. They were more than enough to set Wynnevyre's ambitions alight. With those stories in her heart, she'd forge a path forward through caverns unmapped, slowly but surely mapping out the bowels of Basement that had long since been left unplumbed.

It was years before she stumbled upon her first crack of progress. The air in Basement had always been stagnant, stirred only by the movements of its residents, but for the first time in her life, she felt it brushing against her skin. It was nothing like the violent, skin-splitting gales which her elders had described, but rather a gentle, cool embrace, unlike anything she'd felt before. The air it carried smelled not of dank, spore-heavy mud, but instead, it rang with a crispness she'd never experienced before.

It pulled her forwards like an invisible, intoxicating thread, into depths of the cavern which she was confident none of her people had ever walked before. So far her journey took her, that she eventually stopped looking back. Her journey changed from one of back and forths to a mighty pilgrimage. She lived on the proverbial road, putting to use the skills that her life in Basement had taught her, while simultaneously training a set of entirely new ones. She ventured for well over two years, chasing after phantasmal wafts of fresh air until she unveiled her greatest find yet.

A crack of golden light streamed through a cave wall, illuminating its surroundings with a brightness that she'd have never imagined in her wildest dreams. It was almost enough to blind her, but nowhere close to enough to turn her away. She spent the next year chipping and scraping away at that wall, gradually carving that crack that had been no bigger than a figure into a portal that would whisk her away into another world.

When the day came that she squirmed through her hole to freedom, she was greeted with a canvas of golden hues and innumerable sensations. Not only light, but grass and wind and wood and wildlife, and amongst it all, a single, cordial voice had seen fit to greet her. One that spoke of even wider vistas, more vivid colours, and most teasingly of all, truths which even her elders had nary the slightest whiff of, and, plainly put, it just wasn't in her nature to do anything-

-Anything other than take his hand.
